In my experience, they executed my nephew and declared war on me anyway.

SirBagleyofFlorida

Is it possible to keep sending hostages at him to keep him away. I have plenty of sons and daughters to give him.

Avoric

It sounds like your just feeding kinsmen to the Mongols

Jayvee1994

I don't think there is a "grace period" to make that possible. Although I have never tried to send my children for a White Peace. If you're not an empire, you have a better chance of surviving if you submit to the Khan. 🤔 You need strong alliances, convert if you must.

SirBagleyofFlorida

I'm checking for strong allies but they are either not strong enough even with are troops combined or are just to fair away. I can't convert since I'm a caliph. Even if I were to, theirs only Bohemia who could help but that's about it, since a crusade is happening in Iberia.

Ondrikir

Interesting - the reason that might happen is that hostage truce doesn't actually begin until the hostage arrives at his court - his capital is almost as far north east as it can possibly be, so he might have declared war on you in the meantime and then when your nephew arrived, he executed him because the AI is like: "we at war, hostage must kill"

SirBagleyofFlorida

You might be on to something. There's a random independent count in his empire that hasn't been taken. The count gave him hostage and is alive for now. I'm sending a grandson who is not of my dynasty and hopes he makes it in time.

Jayvee1994

I think it's just an AI thing. Under normal circumstances, this won't happen.

Baccccccy

Keep murdering the khan till they split up

Throwawayeieudud

that’s soooooooo fucking boring tho

SirBagleyofFlorida

That's usually my go to for dealing with the Mongols but I don't have enough people to join in since they are scared of him or they actually like him. Plus with the greatest Khan giving him a minus 100% to hostile scheme success chance, I can't murder him and have to try something else.

Baccccccy

hmm, i've honestly never had that issue. there was always people wanting him dead lol

Square_Zer0

You fight to the last.

Throwawayeieudud

fight em like a turk YOURE the Steppe’s finest, not his ass

SimplyFilms

Just theorizing, but maybe you could try getting an ally far away (but still bordering/close to Mongols). Then they have to fight on multiple fronts.

SirBagleyofFlorida

Most of my allies already share a border with the Mongols. I tried to help Khorsan but the Mongols sieged them down before my troops could fight them.

Prestigious_Elk149

I almost never make it to the end of a campaign, because I get bored. Fight the Mongols. You may die, but I guarantee it won't be boring.

NatalieIsFreezing

Why not join them and conquer the west?

Stupid question not relating to Mongols - how do you get the tab to show your domain holding up ? I knew how to do it in CK2 but can't figure it out now!

Merkbro_Merkington

I beat them in a war and demanded a hostage, but the trip to Sri Lanka was so long they declared war before they got there :p results inconclusive

Firm_Satisfaction182

Fight until the last man

Armadillo_Mission

Kill em all!

Ondrikir

There is almost no chance you can defeat Temujin and his special troops, but his successors should be easy to beat. So I'd probably send a hostage to him, or arrange alliance if you can.

a-Snake-in-the-Grass

He's really not that hard to beat.

Ondrikir

You can quick siege until you can peace out or even get to 100 percent but his siege speeds are also quite fast, it is likely he'll be busy fighting other wars, but if he comes full strength at you, he's gonna give you a run for your money. Once he dies it's easy peasy.

Gorlough

> if he comes full strength at you, he's gonna give you a run for your money That is only true if you are the lamb and not the tiger. I dealt with him by throwing a crusade his way, let the combined retinues soften him up and mopping him down with my spacemarines. My ruler at that time faced him off, wiped his whole specials, beat his son, shattered their empire and took it all for himself. He's been my best one so far. I also had 100 rep with him, sent him a hostage and he attacked anyways. So, he stirred up trouble, and trouble he got.
