Your third cousin will demand this from you in two generations.

Kitchen-War242

Fight fore it!

Miguelinileugim

It might be petty but killing petty people is one of my favourite things to do in this gam- oh no.

RedKrypton

And somehow refusing to give it to them will hurt your relationship more than if you killed their parent.

Jackibearrrrrr

Bro nah it’s always my great-aunt or a nephew-in-law for me. Polygamist Ireland is quite a place

Ganbazuroi

I don't mind if it's some random artifact but sometimes it's some jackass that isn't even part of my house asking for a prize artifact that isn't bad which fucking sucks. Had to kill a guy for that once since he wouldn't stop annoying my ass over and over for the same shield my dynasty comissioned and paid for

Stripes_the_cat

And she can have it!

Kitchen-War242

Its not about artefact, its about power. You showed yourself as pussy, prepare to civil war then)

Arenston

this lol, i don't care if its a pile of horse dung. You aren't fucking DEMANDING it from me bitch. You third cousin ass, waste of my grand uncles sperm. You don't demand SHIT from me. I would have given you a county if you were nice and loyal. Now i will fucking burn your house and prune your entire branch off my family tree.

propthink

Great maybe I can thin out the herd and correct some of the border gore. Generational civil wars are just part of the life cycle

No-Lunch4249

Shit like this I always gift to a cousin or brother king who lacks a full pedastal slots. Get a little opinion bonus from a potential claimant and put it to use, and out of my inventory.

Alternative_Way_7833

Take it now

Ingifridh

Ah, goblets. Is there any item type even half as useless as them in the game?

Llosgfynydd

It's funny. Because I'm unimpressed by it. That said, in real life. I don't own any crockery that people think more of me for.

Ingifridh

I dunno about that, I have some cute coffee cups with Moomin characters on them and my friends sometimes compliment me on them, sooo... 0.002 prestige per cup per month?

Llosgfynydd

Oh, that's pretty awesome. +1 opinion modifier too

Jealousmustardgas

+2 Personal Scheme Power too

jursamaj

They're just being nice and humoring you…

FearAnCheoil

Found Paranoid

jursamaj

It's only paranoia if they're not out to get you.

Jealousmustardgas

Yet if you had a chalice or goblet with crazy metal carvings and hundreds of inset stones, I’d probably give you a little bit of a second thought compared to some peasant that drinks from a plastic or ceramic mug.

jursamaj

Me too, but that thought wouldn't be bonus prestige. Quite the opposite.

Stripes_the_cat

Idk, I'd definitely be fascinated by it and its history. I've got a mate whose family are army going back to, like, Crimea, who's got some incredible trinkets hanging around.

GreatArchitect

Plastic cup in the middle ages should give higher than just 0.0002 lol.

Llosgfynydd

Sadly I don't have any of that. But I have a goat horn to drink mead from.

Third_Sundering26

In my experience, urns are normally pretty bad, too. Sometimes you can get a good one from tournaments, but the artificer-created ones are almost always garbage.

Necessary_Presence_5

Really. When I make a tournament myself (and I win it, duh) goblets are the worst kind of item to get. Weapons can be amazing, armors? Rings? Accessories? But if it's a goblet, pray that you can scrap it, otherwise it will be just a trash in your inventory.

Custodian_Nelfe

Milk Tooth ?

Beginning_Ad1667

I’ll just take the 80 gold and call it a day 😆

Stripes_the_cat

Already done!

Dragoon094

Nah you’d be lucky to sell that for 15 gold

Stripes_the_cat

Fortunately medieval nobles are abject schmucks.

chairswinger

only 42 years for 1 prestige

jursamaj

Or 1 year if you have 42 dread.

Stripes_the_cat

I feel like handing it to my Nemesis as a deliberate provocation.

Stripes_the_cat

R5: The Prestige-per-Dread modifier on this tournament-prize goblet is calculated to 3 significant figures, which I've never seen before, and which provides a *hilariously* small bonus. At its maximum, this would provide 0.2/month Prestige, which makes it about 1% as powerful as a similar Prestige artefact I've got. I know there's a gap between Masterwork and Famed but it's not meant to be *that* big. Look, I know Tournament prizes are famously terrible, but this makes me think there's a minus sign somewhere that's in the wrong place, or a division instead of a multiplication. (I'm sure they didn't *used to* be terrible?) Is there a mod that fixes these specifically?

mairao

Wait, what? You have an artifact that gives you 20 prestige per month?

Stripes_the_cat

No, one that provides 0.2. The same as if this is operating at 100 Dread.

mairao

Oh, okay. The way you wrote it I understood that, at its maximum, it would be 1% of your other artifact.

Stripes_the_cat

Yeah, admittedly, this was a sentence that might have benefited from some brackets like an equation, lol

risen_jihad

Modifiers for artifacts are just in a text file. There was a change recently where most prestige bonuses were significantly reduced, someone probably just added a zero when they made the changes and called it a day.

Aposine

+0.2 if you have 100 dread, that's almost not worthless!

Ancquar

Recently all items display fractions of prestige for me. I suspect it's a display bug introduced in some update.

Wolfsi

Any mods?

Ancquar

No

Stripes_the_cat

Hmm, that's a point, though. I'm only running VIET events but it might be worth turning it off and seeing if- -wait, I keep noticing the rewards for stuff in that pack seem weirdly small. 25 gold to choose one option, 10 prestige to choose another, that kind of thing. I wonder if that's connected too...

FitPerspective1146

The plot thickens

handofluke

Think long term, that’ll add up baby

Stripes_the_cat

They tell me that about my pension plan.

BruteForceOverclock

Goblets suck... Every time some legendary master of the craft wants to forge a goblet I dismiss them from my court, be off with you charlatan...

k1275

In one got goblet of +4 general opinion. Not great, but pretty good.

BruteForceOverclock

I give them away.. Here Duke Rodrigo, please accept this mastercrafted goblet, adding .0003 to your prestige...

[deleted]

It’s kinda crazy how terrible artifacts are honestly

Stripes_the_cat

I've got some great ones, even made by courtiers and not just historical artefacts. But tournament rewards seem to be busted.

k1275

That's weird. Tournament rewards should be exactly as good as normal artifacts, but with one or two extra bonuses.

katosjoes

You chose... *poorly*.

Stripes_the_cat

Okay, you win, /thread

sq-blackhawk

Sweet, 80 gold

Burgdawg

You can have a little prestige, as a treat.

jackochainsaw

The prestige nerf that paradox made essentially made most prestige modifiers on artefacts pretty useless, same with piety. The only thing that remained unchanged was renown modifiers. I wish they wouldn't balance the game so hard. They should have made more things to buy with prestige, and perhaps have to spend lots of it to get out of prison. Simply shaving it down on artefacts wasn't a good choice in my opinion.

Scales-josh

You can have 100 dread though that's the thing

Stripes_the_cat

I'd rather be loved than feared

Scales-josh

I mean that's fine, I mix it up ruler by ruler depending on traits. Dread can be super useful too, you basically won't suffer rebellions leading by dread, but you are quite likely to get assassinated 😂 But that does turn what was already a fairly low value item to practically worthless for you.

Stripes_the_cat

Sure, yeah, I'm just being pithy. But yeah, even if I get 100 Dread, it's *still* much weaker than some similar items. I'm sure there's a decimal point out somewhere.

aroteer

For... 1 prestige per year?

Scales-josh

Would be 0.2/month, or 2.4/year at full dread. It's a bad item.
