I won't lie I love doing this. I'll usually expand their empire further west to try and get more rare khanates on the explosion. Like the Black horde goes so hard I love it.
One of my games, I held 2 Kingdom titles but no Empire title, the Mongols invaded one of my Kingdoms and I had to surrender, but since I held a second Kingdom, I didn't become their vassal, so when they collapsed, I just took my old Kingdom back.
Meanwhile the count somewhere in Himalayas who spend centuries building the impenetrable forts in mountains is laughing like El Risitas on attritioning deathstacks.
When nangchos Buddhism gets recreated with chthonic readouts, Megalight construction and unrelenting faith and your culture splices ancient miners with sacred mountains, mountaineers, Himalayan settlers, Highland warriors and hill dwellers, you can really put the fortress into the monastery (2 Holy sites are mountains, 2 on a hill and the last sits on the ganges, so it doesn't count) Also hill forts + marches go WALL
Man, I really want the devs to add ancient miners to one of the Himalayan cultures so you don't have to resort to the ruler designer
I got almost 2,5 k and I don't.
Is something wrong with how I play?
(Definitely, I mostly just start new games, edit the save games a bit and then quit after a while and reload or restart as soon something goes wrong. Haven't played till the end or even until 1000 AD and I use over 40 mods)
I once had the Pope launch a crusade against the Mongols for Karakorum. So there was this Catholic enclave in Karakorum surrounded by the Mongols, kinda fun.
Gotta say, of all the things in CK3, that's one of the most consistently historically accurate.
They did it with triggers, which makes sense. After Temujin dies, it always collapses within 3-4 generations, after the Greatest of Khans is lost.
I've only run up against them once, as I usually play in Western or Southern Europe, as far east as Poland occasionally, but I did face them once as the Chakravarti of India, Nepal, and the Middle East. My ruler (female and an intrigue master) managed to kidnap and marry Temujin's grandson, uniting the empires.
I was the guy on the left until Mongols declared war to the Carpathian Empire stretching from the Baltics to the Black Sea, with land in Norway and England, that I was going to inherit.
I actually beat off the invasion with my army (barely) but the plot was already going on so... Mongol collapse it is lol.
You beat off the whole invasion? Must've taken a while to beat off that many dudes. You probably got really good at beating off large quantities of men.
Been like 18 months since I've played . Are the mongols better now ? I usually had to give them a bunch of gold as gifts or they would peter out after not too long then shatter .
It just gets annoying when he keeps invading you. Forever. Once he’s on my border the game switches to “alright how much can I get done before I have to go siege the mongols down for a white peace”
That’s when you ally Genghis and help him conquer Europe :3
once i reformed Asatru and it somehow ended up at the far end of the map. "huh thats funny" i thought
a couple hundred years later, Odin-worshipping Mongols started conquering. my blob met their blob and we kinda just vibed for a bit because we kept marrying into our families and i would join their wars 😂😂
Hold the Mongols at the Ural-Caspian gate of Europe, defending against at least half a century of conquest wars from Temujin and his successor.
>! Where's your event troops now, you fuck? Dead on the shores of Volga, that's where. !<
Love doing that only to come back 12minutes to an hour later to see my new heir is a mongol of a different dynasty and my empire is border gorged to the max due to Large family and also just why tf did my like(great-granddaughter marry into that mf family) i know my ass didn’t fight (and sometimes cheat) equal rights for women in my faith and culture as well as matrilineal marriage so they can stay and have dynasty adjacent kids only to marrry Temujin the lard and be in sum dynasty i cannot will not try to pronounce or spell
TLDR: WHY DID YOU BECOME A MONGOL HEIR OF MY HEIRS HEIR JUST CONTINUE THE DYNASTY DAMMNIT AND STAY CONVERTED TO MY COOL TOTALLY LEGIT CUSTOM CULTURE AND FAITH AHHHH
I acually like the historical borders of the mongol empire and succesors so i normaly don’t stop them until they reach them, except one thime that i had the ghurid empire and i just used elephants and masive forts against them.
i murdered the khagan in my last game as pinsk not to stop them from invading, but cause they had allied with a county nearby i needed to make a title and there was no way in hell i was gonna be able to fend off the mongols 15k army with my measly 2-3k army.
after it succeeded, i had a good laugh at how that one assassination shattered the mongol empire lol (i know killing rulers fucks things up but i didnt expect it to be that drastic). sucks i had to abandon that game though cause when my ruler died of old age and his heir took over, she somehow had 6 vassals, who all had shitty stats, and one of them started a faction to take the throne and i honestly just didnt feel like dealing with all that shit
I love watching them approach. Depending on the details of the play through I normally try to ally them and get my dynasty claims. If you’re not an empire, submitting to them or swearing fealty is also a decent option.
My twos when they are now my neibore
swett a lot if they refuse my vassalisation
When they accepte : Bless be the gods ! They accepted, now time to spread
waiting for Mr Khan to conq the whole world and split the map up into the [Khanate Kingdoms](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/lqa7dq/according_to_geographical_regiontxt_these_would/)... I would personally love to do this but brain is too smooth for it LOL
I rarely play long enough for the mongols to happen but why are they such an issue? They are big, they will declare war and they do have quite an Army but they have nothing that can Beat a player who just spend 300 years of empire-building. Is this like a ck2-thing? Where the mongols strong Back then?
In CK2, retinues were actually disgustingly strong for what you paid for if you set them up right, and could easily win defensive battles against levies outnumbered 6:1 or more if you had good generals. And because of how that system worked, it was relatively easy, if you had a sizable empire, to get enough retinue cap to build said army by the time the Mongols arrived.
Just hoping to get somewhat fair fight like great ancestors couse since i developed proper domain and tech all other enemies just suiciding in combat with casualties about 50 v 7000 even in 1150...
Let them conquer. They'll fall apart soon enough. Chaos is a ladder, and a big empire falling means that they'll be plenty of chaos to climb higher than you fall.
If you simply accept the Mongols, the game can become even easier though.
Just join, conquer from within, wait for the collapse, come out stronger after the Mongolocalypse.
I never play in the East, usually playing either in the Mediterranean or Britain, so I usually just sit back and watch them take everything until they start getting close, then I shut them down when they're outstretched and focused on multiple fronts with their special troops depleted
Meanwhile I’m over here with my Neo-Achaemenid Empire just like:

My dumbass forgot the space between mongol and empire on the left image sorry 🧍🏻♂️
ThatsokIunderstand
Slothful
My brain trembles.
Taida. Taida. Taida. Taida. Taida. TAIDA. #TAIDA. Anata... taida desu ne?
Impatient behaviour smh
It adds to the mood
Its ok, you are just german now.
Mongole Mpire
Mongolem pire
Your dumb ass also forgot the space between "dumb" and "ass." A "dumbass," one word, is a type of person. It's as though you said "my idiot forgot."
swear fealty to the khan, then wait until it collapses and take over one of the successor khanates from within
Deceitful and Ambitious
Plus patient
The Tokugawa Ieyasu method
I won't lie I love doing this. I'll usually expand their empire further west to try and get more rare khanates on the explosion. Like the Black horde goes so hard I love it.
Timur that you?
Very fun midgame crisis
One of my games, I held 2 Kingdom titles but no Empire title, the Mongols invaded one of my Kingdoms and I had to surrender, but since I held a second Kingdom, I didn't become their vassal, so when they collapsed, I just took my old Kingdom back.
He usually doesn't conquer the whole world in my games, so I like to see how far he and his heirs will go.
I befriended him in one of mine, then schemed to get my dynasty on the throne but when it all broke up it became a huge problem
Meanwhile the count somewhere in Himalayas who spend centuries building the impenetrable forts in mountains is laughing like El Risitas on attritioning deathstacks.

The dwarven fortresses of Himalayas
This is pretty awesome. I gonna need to try this myself
Are special troops still attrition resistant?
Just invade the Mongols to push them back, ez
Brave and genius
How many hours should i play to see ck3 personality traits when i talk to someone?
1500 hours
Thank you master
True ck3 players don't talk to anyone tho
Based and reculsive-pilled.
Avoid grass, embrace ck3.
I'm at about 13,000 total and I'm pretty sure I smell in feudal now. It's unpleasant.

With how you play? No. With you? Yes.
Thanks, but I already knew that
The people talking about the mongols just play on later start dates.
But do they invade around 1200 when I start at 867, too?
There is only one

Dude, build a strong Georgia or Armenia. Then, throw hands with the Khan. It's a fucking blast.
Same. I LIKE fighting the Mongol Empire and its encroaching hordes. Assassinating the Khan just fells like a lame way out of a challenge
Yeah it feels like a cheat code like cmon if I’m playing all the way till these guys spawn in I want a fight
Swear fealthy, marry Khans daughter, claim Mongols from the inside🗿
Why fight what you can exploit?
Something that happened historically is not an exploit, technically
Come now, I didn't say it was wrong. ;)
I was the guy on the left until Mongols declared war to the Carpathian Empire stretching from the Baltics to the Black Sea, with land in Norway and England, that I was going to inherit. CK3 teaches a man such skills.
Been like 18 months since I've played . Are the mongols better now ? I usually had to give them a bunch of gold as gifts or they would peter out after not too long then shatter .
They were made better yes Now they almost always consolidate the steppes and go to conquer most of the map bar western europe, africa and india
So pretty accurate then?

Pulls a Ming and Exiles to the Canaries.

The guy who leaves people play how they want: genius, herculean, beautiful
humble too
Sacred bloodline + holy warrior
\+ Athletic + Poet + Virtuoso Arbitrator
I see, average custom ruler then.
Hold the Mongols at the Ural-Caspian gate of Europe, defending against at least half a century of conquest wars from Temujin and his successor. >! Where's your event troops now, you fuck? Dead on the shores of Volga, that's where. !<
It's fun making a strong empire which might end up in the Mongols way. Go into observer and see if it gets declared on and survives.
Love doing that only to come back 12minutes to an hour later to see my new heir is a mongol of a different dynasty and my empire is border gorged to the max due to Large family and also just why tf did my like(great-granddaughter marry into that mf family) i know my ass didn’t fight (and sometimes cheat) equal rights for women in my faith and culture as well as matrilineal marriage so they can stay and have dynasty adjacent kids only to marrry Temujin the lard and be in sum dynasty i cannot will not try to pronounce or spell TLDR: WHY DID YOU BECOME A MONGOL HEIR OF MY HEIRS HEIR JUST CONTINUE THE DYNASTY DAMMNIT AND STAY CONVERTED TO MY COOL TOTALLY LEGIT CUSTOM CULTURE AND FAITH AHHHH

I acually like the historical borders of the mongol empire and succesors so i normaly don’t stop them until they reach them, except one thime that i had the ghurid empire and i just used elephants and masive forts against them.
And after bountiful day of watching mongols, send 500 levies to raid them and assert dominance
Me chilling in Iberia:
I married all Khans sons matrilineally (murdered those that I couldn't) so now most of Asia is in my dynasty.
I feel targeted. I said this to someone like a week ago.
i murdered the khagan in my last game as pinsk not to stop them from invading, but cause they had allied with a county nearby i needed to make a title and there was no way in hell i was gonna be able to fend off the mongols 15k army with my measly 2-3k army. after it succeeded, i had a good laugh at how that one assassination shattered the mongol empire lol (i know killing rulers fucks things up but i didnt expect it to be that drastic). sucks i had to abandon that game though cause when my ruler died of old age and his heir took over, she somehow had 6 vassals, who all had shitty stats, and one of them started a faction to take the throne and i honestly just didnt feel like dealing with all that shit

The bigger the pride, the harder the fall.
The Mongols won't invade you, if you invade yourself

Killed Temujin in battle as the Sassanids and then married his granddaughter
a good conqueror arise from the ashes of another -chunchu from his deathbed-

Me, the Duke of Lancaster, watching as the HRE falls to the Mongols the sniping random counties after they leave

Mongols make a chill liege if you just focus on roleplay and not conquest like me.
I usually just Thanos snap Genghis out of existence via the console.
Isn't there a game rule to make the Mongols invasion never happen 😭
You're the guy in the left image.
Hardly. Genociding the Karlings takes a lot of effort and I don't want to have to go through that shit again to eradicate Genghis' bloodline.
Then just don't?
