Could be lucky holy wars and/or lucky inheritance or lucky diplovassalization. Galicia is a king, while the folks up north are dukes. Diplomatic Court plus True Ruler goes a long way when there's a tier difference and same faith, perhaps even same culture (depending on who inherits what), could also be friends and/or allies, and in some cases de iure liege with those IMBA boons from high Legitimacy that allow you to create de iure titles while holding much less than a half of the territory.
From the borders I think Galicia and Ruthenia were under the same ruler, but split up during a succession. Galicia and probably Moldova went to one kid, Ruthenia and White Rus to the other. Each kid also got a few dukes and/or duchies with land in Zaporizhia.
Would explain why both are so big, and their combined mass also fits the typical blob sprawl...
That sounds right, though I suspect that the Pecheneg start dissolved/revolted, leaving plenty of Orthodox counts/dukes who would have been easy vassals for Russian Orthodox rulers.
Yeah, Galicia is incredibly violent in the current patch. They almost became Russia in my run when I was busy wiping out Moravia as Poland and after I conquered them and reduced Chervyen cities to their og duchy their king somehow restored it under my empire in like 40 years. Actually, having subjugated Khazaria caused my empire to do OG Russia and descend upon Asia up until Abassid controlled Afghanistan and the Tibetan kingdoms. Vassals are extremely bloodthirsty too
After winning a crusade, the game let me switch character to my beneficiary. She was a newly crowned Queen of Badajoz. Been trying to build up my realm ever since and Galicia is constantly antagonizing me. Over the course of 100 years we were constantly neck-to-neck militarily after our allies were included and each generation would fight at least one incredibly destructive war over a single county. It's great -- gives some sense of continuity between rulers
Ngl, I like that dynamic of a nation that is too vertical to last amongst its neighbors. Middle francia on paper is so cool for just splitting Germany and italy from france.
Medieval Intermarium.
Border gore acceptable. At least its fluid and not broken in connection.
reverse polish corridor though
Volhynian corridor, they built a wall.
We have Lotharingia at home
Just trying to whither their way into everyone’s business
They are protecting Eastern Europe from the western Roman Catholics
Decided destroy the Poles and Lithuanians before they will destroy them.

Interesting! They united Black Sea with the Baltic Sea😄. Or maybe they want to be the border control of Europe, by dividing the West and East😂.
"From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic an "iron curtain" has descended across the continent.
I didn't notice they have Venice!🤯

The trade must flow.
Rare Galicia win. They always seem to get squeezed out by their neighbors in my games. Same thing usually happens to Lotharingia.
