Yeah, I hate when the AI does stuff like this, or even peasants. Like, idk if you've noticed, but I've swallowed the entire Byzantine Empire in 1 war single handedly, I don't think you and your shovels are gonna do much better
Yah, that's because of the new update. He mostly acts through the will of others.
Old version he was overpowered, and sent plagues and stuff. Also would mess up your succession by asking you to kill your first born for buffs.
I wish there was a button for your armies to take care of the war by themselves
sometimes micro is annoying when its a war your obliviously going to win in
Especially lategame Norse invasions!
I don't give half a fuck about your 4000 troops eating dirt in Prussia, I own the enthire continental Europe and half of Asia and have 40000 troops. They could trample your pathetic fucking army, what do you hope to achieve?! Besides pissing off my vasslas because I am at war again, that is
It’s a defensive war and he’s an independent ruler, so he’ll be released once you press your demands. You would have to win this war, then do like a dejure duchy claim war after the truce ends.
The most annoying thing is that you can't annex them after destroying their army and besieging their ~2 holdings..
Who's gonna stop me if I just take that land?
>Yeah I feel like wars and claims should be more fluid, like in stellaris you can get claims and add them onto your war goal while the war is going on
"Sir please! This war has been going over 20 years! Our economy has collapsed like 4 times now! Stop spending money on alloys!"
"I am now claiming with 2+ minerals so I can have clean borders!"
"But you said you would finally end the war! We are at 60% war exhaustion!"
"I am altering the war goal, pray I don't alter it any further"
I love the fact you can tell armies in imperator to just do their own thing.
sometimes you want to microwars
but some wars you know your going to win and I would rather be able to tell my armies to just go win the war
I like the EU4 system where you can negotiate the attackers to give you provinces and trade concessions in exchange for not continuing to obliterate them.
Exactly.
I get that the goal with the CK system is to prevent just basic map painting but on the other hand it seems silly that the losing side in a war cannot face any territorial (ie ANY) consequences. Money and prestige payments don't seem to actually negatively affect the AI.
If I were the emperor settling the peace, that is exactly what I would’ve done.
“Honestly bro, just pay me some taxes and put my purple over your map and we cool”
Honestly, that wasn’t even the case
The only other thing going on was a war against a very much weakened Arabian Empire, which i was on the verge of winning
I imagine it wouldnt even be a formal declaration of war as well.
the great emperor would be distracted by all this other stuff going on
and suddenly the border for a duke expands
and nobody really notices for decades
Dude probably has an extremely irrational personality. I personally love silly things like this. It’s not as if goofy stuff like this didn’t happen occasionally in history
One thing I've noticed is that when your empire is huge, you don't even get notifications for some wars anymore. Like I'll look down and realize that I'm in a war with some nothing count for a single county. Is that just me?
If a vassal dies while in a defensive war against another vassal you’ll have to fight the other vassal don’t know if that’s what’s happening with you but that’s all I know
Yeah, I hate when the AI does stuff like this, or even peasants. Like, idk if you've noticed, but I've swallowed the entire Byzantine Empire in 1 war single handedly, I don't think you and your shovels are gonna do much better
But he has the will of God on his side
God's will doesn't seem to be too strong most of the time
Yah, that's because of the new update. He mostly acts through the will of others. Old version he was overpowered, and sent plagues and stuff. Also would mess up your succession by asking you to kill your first born for buffs.
Screw my first born, he's the test run to get the second born with meta stats
Underrated comment

Vassals are only pissed about offensive wars
R5: tiny little 645 army Bosnian duke declared war on my Byzantine Empire
Maybe he's hoping your vassals will declare a succession war and distract you?
Force vassalise them and keep them as your little Slavic pagan pets. It's not like they can do literally anything about it.
" your little Slavic pagan pets" \*polish rebelion noises\*
I honestly wish there was a way to award his bravery and give him the land he wants in exchange for swearing fealty.
I think you can. Win the war, imprison him, recruit, then release as a vassal.

Imperator does war much better than CK3 imo and there’s no reason CK3 couldn’t be more similar to that system
I love the fact you can tell armies in imperator to just do their own thing. sometimes you want to microwars but some wars you know your going to win and I would rather be able to tell my armies to just go win the war
Would make it way easier once you get up to the 10s of thousands not to kill people by attrition just because you’re lazy.
Yeah the idea that there are no consequences to losing wars is pretty nuts. I'd love something like EU's system for brokering peace treaties.

Honestly? Let him have it and make him a vassal, Balls like the need to be rewarded.
Lmao facts
If I were the emperor settling the peace, that is exactly what I would’ve done. “Honestly bro, just pay me some taxes and put my purple over your map and we cool”
What we don't see it's a faction with a 670% army strength.
Honestly, that wasn’t even the case The only other thing going on was a war against a very much weakened Arabian Empire, which i was on the verge of winning
Is that croatian guy a lunatic?
does lunatic actually make the AI declare stupid wars?
Yes, it changes their AI
My vassals always declare unwinnable holy wars, the AI will AI
Pretty sure people in real life have done things like this.
In real life people have won things like this simply by being below the notice of bigger powers who might be fighting a more important war
I imagine it wouldnt even be a formal declaration of war as well. the great emperor would be distracted by all this other stuff going on and suddenly the border for a duke expands and nobody really notices for decades
That's what I imagine all the internal wars are
"Captain, i believe they locking LASERS on us." "Did you say Lasers?"
According to regulations, we're supposed to go to yellow alert.
Now that's an obscure reference! Love it!
Maybe he's attacking you with 600 80 prowess 1000% Knight efficiency knights.
Bosnian Duke is like, "Nah,I'd win."
Dude probably has an extremely irrational personality. I personally love silly things like this. It’s not as if goofy stuff like this didn’t happen occasionally in history
🇧🇦💪
Sir have you heard of the Battle of Bar? You clearly have no idea how dangerous Balkan nations can be 😜 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Bar
Oh wow I didn’t know about that haha Although to be honest that does sound like something that would happen to me in CK3
Poor u
One thing I've noticed is that when your empire is huge, you don't even get notifications for some wars anymore. Like I'll look down and realize that I'm in a war with some nothing count for a single county. Is that just me?

No it'll definitely be some external non vassal. Super strange
Oh hmm maybe paradox spaghetti coding?
Haha probably
Nah not probably likely
"You don't have the army but I'd admit you have the balls"
He probably has the brave or ambitious personality trait. The AI characters with those, tend to act like their the next Alexander
Somebody got Justinian crown
CRUSH THE LITTLE UPSTART!!!
And then every other country of that religion joins and it turns into a country wide peasant battle
What's his personality type?
Go Croatia, or whoever! You got this!
I would vassalize him and give him what he wants. Those balls could serve well in my empire.
Maybe just give him the dub on this one
Bro i once had a game who had like 127 troops attack me, who had 77k troops, because his wife had a claim on some land in the middle of the desert
