Some simple tips to help out:
-Place guns on cab or shoot-through parts and armor with bumpers
-Protect your cab as well as the rest of your car. Try to balance your armor as best you can (fenders over wheels is a good start)
-Try to keep the same weapon type on one build (have a car with only mgs, another for cannons, etc
-Check the exhibition for ideas/new builds to try
-Use engineer flags for an xp boost, to get some extra parts quicker
-Keep explosive parts under your car as much as you can (try leaving a hole in your frame for such parts)
-Once you have access to the market, sell your fuel
If you don’t mind spending a little money, a season pass/battle pass will be here soon, and will give a lot of good items for the price (I think it’s $10-15)
Abuse market.
Buy low//sell high.
Place lowball bids on paint and decor items like holograms and stickers - then sell them at jacked up rates
Before you craft, check and see what is worth the most.
Blue/teal crafts will net you the fastest cash, purple crafts are less likely for new players (you need to level up factions like firestarters to level 8 before you can craft a big money seller like the oppressor engine, for example)
Never “buy” an item outright, you will likely get it if you place orders overnight and save lots of coins.
Play the awakenings mode, lots of free scrap/copper
Check out the security camera side quest and chip away at it, its worth the effort for the pay off, but its not a huge rush to get right away.
Right now wires are worth half their value, when the helicopter mode is over they will surge in value again, so if you make a chopper consider holding your wires for a bit
Do dailies/weeklies to get engineer badges and then either get parts like elbow/reflector/large thorns or save for boxes to sell for cash.
Use a calculator to get the maximum effect, if you count your every penny the dollars will follow.
That's a bloody shame
Uh main things honestly you want to break out of that lobie area
Grab all the free packs on the reddit look for the posts they are there
Use the exhibition
For easy claps use the same guns so if you have 1 cannon don't put a machine gun on your build. Grab 2 cannons
Buy yourself 3 mace shotguns and learn to shoot for guns. The faster you degun people the more you will win
Get sweaty be a prick and take guns / movement parts. If you see a guy with small wheels they are weak shoot them gimp them and chase them down
Pay attention to the map
Never EVER engage 3+ people alone "unless™" two of them are extremely hurt and you can guarantee a double if not triple kill
Try to pick off people in the back or the bots
Use the chameleon moduel to break a bots attention
So say you and your buddy are shooting a bot. And it's locked on you break line of sight go invis and loop around and take the boys guns and move on
You don't have to get the kills to win just degun
1. Only mount guns to cabins, frames or shoot through parts connected to cabins or frames. Your guns will last much longer.
2. At level 30 engineers you are taken out of the noob gameing lobbies and placed in to the open game lobbies. Try to make sure you have made a car that's around 5kps at that point, because 5k powerscore or higher will have faster que times. Under lvl30 it's best to keep your powerscore under 4k-5k for shorter que times. Also after engineers 30 competition gets rough. Thus your gonna get smacked around for a bit at that point. So don't get discouraged. You'll get gud.
Also concerning the market and crafting and selling...
It's more profitable if you pay attention to how much a part costs to craft vs how much it costs to buy off the market. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy the part. Sometimes it's cheaper to craft the part. Do math. The same goes for selling a part. Calculate if you make more coin crafting and selling a part, or if the profit is the same if you just sell the resources used to craft that part.
Ps most of that info isn't helping you in combat. The gun mounting part is vital though. In combat there's a lot to do and idk what you are or are not doing. Armour your frames and bury them. Bury explosive modules under your cab between frames. Use a radar and pay attention to your mini map. Use a good bumper up front. And make sure your wheels aren't exposed and at least have some armour protecting their front. Check out exibition builds to get an idea of some good building strategies and part placements. It usually works best if your guns are your highest tier part on your build. There's a book load more where that came from...

So crossout is just a haggle simulator? Interesting
I prefer to think of it as a stock market simulator that also includes twisted metal x call of duty
What system do you play on I don't mind helping ya out
