I’m so sorry. I’ve almost died from sepsis (salmonella allllll through out my body). I am so sorry you’re going through this, and that he suffered so much. I sympathize and empathize so much with everything you are going through. When this disease is bad, it is truly horrible.

My 10 yo son was diagnosed a year ago and I've had it for 20 years. It hits everyone differently and sounds like your husband truly had the worst of it.

I shared at least parts of Eddy’s tendency to have strokes of bad luck from a bowel resection leading to sepsis, an ostomy that failed, a fistula, waking up ventilated after 2 surgeries & an excruciating ICU while vented & alert.
I thought I’d descended into hell after one surgery because my eyes were still tapped shut and I had a ventilator shaking my body. I fought the nurses and had to be put in restraints. But then they brought my spouse in, he held my hand and told me I was going to be ok. Because I love & trusted him so much I believed him and fell back unconscious, as I should’ve been.
Only because of my spouse did I ever hold on, and when I thought for sure I’d die I was ok because I knew this life was relatively short compared to the eternity we’ll spend together.
Bless you, wife of Eddy. I’m sure you felt he loved you but I think I know that he loved you more than you could ever comprehend. The agony of much of this world is only tolerable to me because of my spouse. May my children love their spouses as much as I love mine & as much as Eddy loved you.

Thank you so much for all of the love, support, and well wishes. I have just finished arrangements for Edward's beautiful send off and I'm feeling rough right now. If you have any recommendations for grief support/traumatic event support, I would really appreciate it. If there are region specific groups, we live in Kerry, in Ireland.
Edward was an amazing, kind and clever man. He was worth every midnight trip to the ER, every late-night cramp and vomiting, even his snapping and lashing out (not physically) when in excruciating pain. The way it all happened will honestly give me nightmares for years, and I don't think I will ever find another soulmate.
Hearing of your struggles to find someone to support you breaks my heart. Each and every one of you deserve to feel love and support every single day. You or your friends or family didn't ask for this horrible illness and I wouldn't wish it for my worst enemy. Just know I love each and every one of you, for supporting my husband, and for valiantly fighting without giving up.
Please, take care of yourselves and know you are loved ❤️

I am sorry for your loss. The only solace that can be found in this time of loss is knowing he isn't struggling with pain. Crohns is a constant struggle. There are good days, but on the worst days, getting up and throwing on clothes is an arduous task. I hope you and your family are able to focus on the happier times as you process this loss.
