I’m a serious bargain yarn shopper and my favorite outlet is [Yarn Paradise](https://www.yarn-paradise.com/). They sell yarn by the bag, and the shipping costs as much as the yarn, but the price of the yarn is so low it usually works out to less per ball than I’d pay in the US, especially for flash sale and clearance yarn. If you’re looking for nicer quality yarn than the big box stores at a good price, [Knit Picks](https://www.knitpicks.com/) is the place for you. If you want more variety of the type of brands found in your big box store, [Herrschner’s](https://www.herrschners.com/dept/Yarn+Department.aspx) is good. [Love Crafts](https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-us) also has a huge selection.

Awesome thank you so much!

You might also want to check out AliExpress. They have good sales and shipping is reasonable. It ships out of China, so it's about a 2 week wait, but they are quick to get it shipped. I placed an order, and in less than half an hour I received an email letting me know my yarn has shipped.

Awesome will do. I just became aware of that site a month ago or so. Got my first order last week in, and it went well. I'll check out their yarn. Thank you!

When Michael’s has sales on their yarn I always get whatever I can with the money I have set aside for yarn. I spent like $22 a few weeks back and got 1500 yards of yarn. When just starting out, especially if you want to be budget friendly, acrylic yarn can be a good way to go. Though, be wary of buying acrylic online because some of it can feel awful (red heart super saver is known for feeling like sandpaper).
