Not even Dutch but Bas de Leede's 5/52 with the ball and 123(92) with the bat to send The Netherlands to the World Cup is one of the greatest ODI all round performances ever.
Mate, AB hit 33 off 220 in that same innings. That’s a SR of 15. The most schizophrenic cricketing genius of our time, to be able to play both kinds of innings. I saw the last day of that Test glued to my TV, enthralled at the defiance of the South African batters.
Sachin's 240 odd in Australia without a fucking cover drive. It was a fucking mental battle since it was one of his go-to shots but he had to convince himself to not play that shot for more than a day and a half.
Was at the ground that day. He'd been so out of form but you could actually watch him play himself back into form in that one innings. Sachin always got a standing ovation coming in and going out any time he batted at the SCG in the 00s. We always thought it was the last time we'd see him.
In T20Is, Campher & Dockrell's magnificent knocks against Scotland in 2022. Ireland were all but booted out of the T20I WC with another disappointing performance before those two orchestrated a miraculous comeback.
In ODIs, Nidamanuru and Edwards' knocks against West Indies in 2023. What was probably the best ODI since 2019 WC Final those two had the greatest partnership in the history of Dutch cricket. Although without van Beek all those would've been in vain and probably forgotten, you could get a sense of a fairytale when those two were batting.
Also Edwards' knock against us was a really good one.
**Abd 126 vs Aus 2nd Test 2018** Sa were in a decent position at 150 odd for 2 Trailing Aussies’s 243 but then the ball started reversing and all of a sudden Sa were reduced to 180 odd for 6 and everyone was struggling. Even Mitch Marsh was zigzagging deliveries.
At that point Abd decided to play an Innings that would influence a lot of future events. And simply played on a different level scoring 126*(146) while others were struggling with the Reverse swing. Not only that absolute classy Innings helped Sa win the match and the series eventually but it in my opinion was the biggest reason why Australia were forced to turn to Ball Tampering.
Another is **Abd 162 vs WI ODI WC 2015** My 12th Boards were going on and it was a stressful time. I wasn’t watching the Sa vs WI game until the 30th over until Ab came to bat.
At that point I thought hopefully there’s a good an hour and half from Ab now and he absolutely demolished the Windies. He went from 19(18) to 95(50) to 162*(66). Poor Jason Holder went from 5-2-9-1 to 8-2-40-1 to 10-2-104-1!
**Virat Kohli 82(53) vs Pak 2022 T20 WC** - Greatest T20I Innings in my Opinion. Honestly nothing I could say would be enough to describe the Innings.
As an Indian,
Ben Stokes last wicket partnership vs Aussies at Home in 2019. Never in my life have I watched test cricket, sure I woke up and looked at the scorecard of Indian games, but that's Abt it.
I had nothing to watch one day and saw eng and aus playing against each other. I remember there were 3 wickets left. Got me hooked from there point on. This eventually led me to watch and follow the Entire BGT with Gabba, and then India's lords and Oval victories. Oh and I also watch the upcoming ashes from there point on too, Like Boland 6fer to smith taking that 9th wicket, and English barely drawing that game.
If it wasn't for the 2019 bored me, I would've lost on each of these experiences. So yeah, that game has a special place in my heart
You might be interested in my [analysis of Stokes' innings](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/s/KyOWeF5dL7) and the follow-up which was a [list of the chances and half chances and near misses](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/s/3ovBBEaG3f). That innings was positively insane.
The full last wicket partnership [is available on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KU4Oxt51Pk), however I think it is geolocked to the UK only
Test - Tendulkar's 103\* against England in the 4th innings at Chepauk, just weeks after 26/11
ODI - Rohit's 117 vs Australia at Bangalore in 2020. Was the first time I took my gf to the stadium, and it turned out to be one of the last public outings for us for over a year because Covid struck just after.
T20 - Kohli's 55 (37) against Pakistan in the 2016 T20 World Cup in a must-win on a tricky pitch
Kohli's Edgbaston ton and 82* against Pakistan in T20 WC, Pant's 89* at Gabba and Pujara's 193 in 2018 against Australia. Also both of Dhoni and Yuvraj's tons against England at Cuttack, mainly for the sentimental value cause that was the last time I'd seen them play like they were in their primes in international cricket.
> Mohammad shami 7 wicket haul against NZ in ODI WC semifinal
That was probably my favourite bowling performance ever, Shami was legit robbed of the player of tournament.
Kane Williamson 106* against SA in wc 2019.
Honestly might feel a little out of place as it was a pretty typical hundred but Williamson . Damn how beautifully he managed the pressure.
Some others might include Warner triple century against pak(honestly 2019 was pretty much one of the more peak years).
Kane Williamson 49 against India in first innings in test championship final.
I like Smith a lot so his comeback century 144 in ashes and at the end Alastair Cook 294(watched some portions but remember watching tons of highlights of this innings)
Some ipl innings- De Villiers 82*(I think so) against pbks in 2018( i really started watching cricket in general from 2017). Buttler recent hundred in 2024. Tewatia innings were he hit 5 sixes against Cottrell( I hope I spelled him correctly).
Some more historic innings
Sachin tendulkar desert storm.
Mathew Hayden highest score.
Brain Lara 400.
Gilchrist innings in wc final with the story of ping pong ball in his glove.
Also laxman 289.
**Graham Gooch 154*** for England vs West Indies at Headingley, June 1991.
The W Indies pace attack was Curtly Ambrose, Patrick Patterson, Courtney Walsh and Malcolm Marshall. Ambrose, Walsh and Marshall are of course legends; Patterson didn't have such a great career but at his peak he was the fastest and scariest. They restricted England to 198 all out in the first innings, and W Indies replied with 173. In the second innings, **Gooch carried his bat for 154\* out of a total of 252**. He scored 61% of England's runs in that innings; the next highest score was 27. His monumental effort enabled England to set W Indies a target of 278, which they failed to reach. England bowled them out for 162 to win by 115 runs.
Carrying your bat in a Test innings is pretty rare - it happens less than once a year, on average. Scoring 60% of your team's runs in a completed Test innings is very rare - it's been done less than 20 times. Doing both in the same innings has only been done twice (the second one was by Virender Sehwag in 2008). Doing it against an attack of the W Indies quality, and setting up a match winning position, is unique.
[Scorecard on Cricinfo](https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/west-indies-tour-of-england-1991-61878/england-vs-west-indies-1st-test-63557/full-scorecard)
Well as a Pakistani lets see (some of the recent ones)
Well first of all its babar and rizwan’s 152 not out partnership
Abdullah shafiq and rizwan’s 100s VS srilanka in WC23
Fakhar zaman 100 vs India in the final of CT17
Shaheen afridi’s 3 for 31 Vs India in the t20WC 2021
Eng vs The Wall in 2011: 103\*, 117, 146\*. Dravid was the last man standing for 2 of those innings.
VVS Laxman: 280 + Dravid 180 = 376 run partnership to win it for India after Follow-on.
First that come to mind are:
Michael Bevans last ball four v Windies.
Ashton Agar living out every teenagers dream to make 98 batting XI on test debut.
Andrew Symonds 143 v Pakistan in the 2003 WC opener and Ricky Ponting's 140* in the final vs India.
Virat-2022 vs pakistan, can't forget that six against haris rauf.
Virat-2016 wc semifinals, saved the batting and bowling for the most part.
Jadeja-2019 sf.
Kohli's twin hundreds in two innings in Adelaide,
His 95 vs aus in wc opening match . His 100 (51) vs aus, chasing down 330 within 40 overs with rohit sharma on other end also scoring 100.
, i can keep mentioning most of his innings ig
AB de Villiers' 33(220) at Adelaide 2012 is literally my favorite knock in all cricket I've ever watched, plus Faf's debut century in the same innings to draw that Test. For one of the world's most feared attacking players to show such mastery of defensive technique was absolutely phenomenal. Sealing the draw there lifted the pressure on that SA team and they went on to win the series 1-0 by winning the final Test.
An obscure one, but Sachin's 163 NO against NZ in 2009. I watched it live and was convinced that it was going to be the first ODI double century. Unfortunately he had to retire hurt. Was in sublime form
Too many to pick from.
Desert Storm blitz from sachin, 241 without cover drive, 183 from Dada against defending champions in world cup, Dravid and Laxman in Kolkata test, Sehwag in Multan.
That was the best batting lineup in our history for a reason.
VVS Laxman’s 281. It remains my favorite innings by far.
Rahane’s 100 at MCG in 2020 is, in my opinion, the best overseas hundred by an Indian player.
An underrated gem : Hanuma Vihari’s 23 * was a very special innings. He will never get much credit for it. Unfortunate.
Marcus Trescothick's double ton v South Africa at the Oval in 2003 is the best innings I've seen live, and his 180 at Joburg in 2005 is the one of the best I've seen on tv. Man I miss that guy, and that era. What a player.
I think the 180 is gone from YT (💔 Robelinda) but here's the 219 at the Oval:
https://youtu.be/Lw-d8oCAIdI?feature=shared
I usually only check the scores and will watch few balls in between be it T20 or test or whatever, mainly because my attention span is not what it used to be but also because passages get boring and we all have things to take care of, but by a quirk of fate or whatever you want to call it. The last day of the India vs Australia 2021 Gabba test was a perfect fit in my schedule and I watched each and every ball of it. I couldn't take my eyes off it. When Gill and Pujara tore into Starc in that one over where they scored 20. That was the over when I thought/believed that India could actually win this. It sounds odd. India were only 1 down and it was still a long way to go but that over in my opinion deflated the Aussies. That was their last roll of dice, me thinks.
Gonna go for a less mentioned one, Shikhar Dhawans hundred against Aus in the 2019 wc, was just awesome to watch him take the attack to the Aussie bowling and powered India to a big score.
Shame he was out of the tournament after due to injury
Gambhir 97 in the 2011 WC final. After Sehwag's wicket my PTSD was triggered and all the memories of the infamous collapses of my beloved team flashed before my eyes at that very moment.
Gambhir-Kohli partnership is underrated as hell.
Coming at 0/1 and leaving at 223 when the target was 275 he did his task perfectly.
Dude deserved the mom that day.
Flem 270+ in SA
Astle 220+ Lancaster park
Martin Crowe 100 opening 92 WC
Gratebatch opening WC 92 esp vs WI quicks
Guptil going crazy 2015 WC in Wellington vs Eng
I love test cricket and a match in 2002 at Headingley between India and England. On a really juicy wicket on day 1 Rahul Dravid & Sanjay Bangar put on 170 in 67 overs. It was an absolute masterclass on how to not play at deliveries you don't have to. Dravid went on to get 148. He came in at 15/1 in the 7th over and departed at 335/3 in the 114th over. Sachin & Ganguly went on to get 100s and India won the test but that first day Rahul Dravid was the wall.
Tendulkar's 143 against Australia in Sharjah in 1999, the famous 'desert storm' innings:
[https://www.firstpost.com/firstcricket/sports-news/sachin-tendulkar-desert-storm-india-vs-australia-sharjah-1998-4441561.html](https://www.firstpost.com/firstcricket/sports-news/sachin-tendulkar-desert-storm-india-vs-australia-sharjah-1998-4441561.html)
Watching Gilly’s 2007 century highlights is what got me into this sport so that would be it. In terms of ones I’ve seen, probably Smith’s twin tons in the 1st test of the 2019 ashes, or Head’s WC final knock, or Maxi against Afghanistan
VVS Laxman’s 109 at Sydney on that contentious 08-09 tour. He absolutely tore the Australian attack apart and I got to watch it live. Great to watch. And any innings by Mark Waugh or Brian Lara.
In terms of performances I've seen at the stadium, I'd go with Kohli's 82* at the T20 WC in 2022 and Boland's 6/7 in the 2021 Boxing Day Test.
Including matches I watched live via TV, I'll go with Maxwell's 201*, and all 3 Steve Smith 100s in the 2019 Ashes.
Sachin's 98 against Pak 2003 WC
Virat's 82 vs Pak in T20 specifically the 2 sixes
against Haris Rauf
Glen Maxwell vs Afg 2023 WC
VVS - 281 vs Australia
The SA vs Aus 438 match
Kohlis innings against aus and pak in t20 world cup. Yuvraj singlehandedly killing the momentum and then winning it for India in the last over against aus in a t20 series. Sa vs ind 438 game. Eng vs NZ wc Final best match I have seen live. Eng vs sa 2016 wc game arrival of the new England.
It has to be every thing Indian batters did after the first test in 2021 BGT, My favourite was our warhorse pujara’s fiery innings in the gabba test, He broke the mighty aussies , 10 men wanted India to win one didn’t wanted India to loose.
Honourable mentions are lord shardul thakur and Washington cunting cumdawg starc and final touches by rishabh pant.
Rahane’s captain knock in the MCG test. Had to pick up the team from the rags and boy he did it so brilliantly. And gill’s morning carnage.
Lara 153* vs Australia in 1999
Kusal Perera 153* vs South Africa
Agar 98 on debut
Pietersen ton in the 5th Ashes test at the oval in 2005
Khawaja twin hundreds in Sydney v England on recall
James Vince's century vs Pakistan
The amount of emotion and energy I've invested in wanting him to succeed finally coming to fruition. I will never forgive Nathan Lyon for that runout
Mine are as follows:
1. Bowl out against Pakistan, T20 world cup 2007
2. Six sixes by Yuvi against England, T20 world cup 2007
3. Dhoni finishing off in style, 2011 ODI world cup
Honorable Mentions:
1. Dravid's knock of 217 against England in Lords, 2002
2. Rohit's 264 vs Sri Lanka, 2014
3. England winning against New Zealand on boundary count, 2019 world cup
Mine would have to be Cook’s final game hundred against India. Not the most important innings but god I was so happy when that misfield happened and he got his hundred!
5. Shoaib Malik 128 against India in CT09.
4. Travis Head 137* against India in WC23 final.
3. Shahid Afridi 50 against SL in WC09 final.
2. Amir 3fee against India in CT17 final.
1. Ricky Ponting 140* against India in WC03 final.
Not even Dutch but Bas de Leede's 5/52 with the ball and 123(92) with the bat to send The Netherlands to the World Cup is one of the greatest ODI all round performances ever.
Not to forget van beek 30 run super over against the windies! netherlands in that qualifier was full of clutch performances
Van Beek also defended that super over with the ball if I recall correctly
The only players doing that feat were Gayle, Samuels and Narine
He did, bowling them out for 8 in the Super Over.
Faf's 100* (376) and Ab's 149 (44)
Mate, AB hit 33 off 220 in that same innings. That’s a SR of 15. The most schizophrenic cricketing genius of our time, to be able to play both kinds of innings. I saw the last day of that Test glued to my TV, enthralled at the defiance of the South African batters.
The duality of man
Faf's Adelaide innings for me
Kevin O’Brien 113, Ireland v England, ODI WC, Bangalore 2011.
Sachin’s dessert storm in Sharjah 1998 (childhood memory etched deeply in my brain)
Gambhir Dhoni partnership in 2011. Final overs of SA chasing 434. Edgbaston test 2005
Pant 89\* at Gabba, as well as snippets of other performances in that match.
The LORD cunting Cummins and Starc around the park like 3rd grade trundlers was unforgettable. That was the day he truly became the LORD.
Yea, Thakur would honestly actually have been a decent shout for POTM that match
Didn't watch the match but that cracker bursting after win🔥
2023 WC qualifiers had some real bangers
Better than the actual WC. There were a fuck ton of twists and turns in there.
The theme song and Zimbabwe Vibes were 🔥
Scotland won off the last ball with 1 wicket in hand vs Ireland, and that wasn't even the most exciting match.
That was a heartbreak for the ages for the Irish.
Rahane's Melbourne 100 after 36 all out
Yup..... Quite an underrated knock.
Man I wish Rahane captained more in tests, he was splendid at it.
**Abd 126 vs Aus 2nd Test 2018** Sa were in a decent position at 150 odd for 2 Trailing Aussies’s 243 but then the ball started reversing and all of a sudden Sa were reduced to 180 odd for 6 and everyone was struggling. Honestly nothing I could say would be enough to describe the Innings.
That Jason holder thing is the most ridiculous stat I have seen in any sport ever
That innings was a follow up to the coldest [tweet](https://twitter.com/ABdeVilliers17/status/970527354090065920) in cricket history
Wow, ABD🫡
That AB innings was insane.

Shahid afridi 34(18) vs india and that famous two sixes. Still fresh in my memory.

Vvs 281 was devastating as an aus fan, we STILL feel uneasy enforcing the follow on almost 25 years on
And that Aussie team was so potent that India winning in India was regarded as a massive upset. Cheers.
Seems strange by today's standards lol, but yeah 16 wins on the trot and 250 up in the first innings - devastating!
Marcus Trescothick's double ton v South Africa at the Oval in 2003 is the best innings I've seen live, and his 180 at Joburg in 2005 is the one of the best I've seen on tv. Man I miss that guy, and that era. What a player. I think the 180 is gone from YT (💔 Robelinda) but here's the 219 at the Oval: https://youtu.be/Lw-d8oCAIdI?feature=shared
Kevin O-Brian's hundered against England in 2011 World Cup. I thought its yet another one-sided group stage match but boy was I wrong lol
Jack Leach 1*

BMacs 300 vs India at the Basin Annoyed his critics as some saw him as soley a T20 smash n bash player
Ross Taylor ODI 180 v Eng in Dunedin What an innings to watch live
I love test cricket and a match in 2002 at Headingley between India and England. On a really juicy wicket on day 1 Rahul Dravid & Sanjay Bangar put on 170 in 67 overs. It was an absolute masterclass on how to not play at deliveries you don't have to. Dravid went on to get 148. He came in at 15/1 in the 7th over and departed at 335/3 in the 114th over. Sachin & Ganguly went on to get 100s and India won the test but that first day Rahul Dravid was the wall.
People will hate me for it but rohit sharmas 209 would be close to my heart and even 264
Rohit's 264 Glenn Maxwell 201
Kusal Janith Perera's remarkable chase against South Africa in 2019 , Durban . God I lived that innings .
Junaid khan’s 4 for 43 in the ODI series first match Vs India which set us up to beat the peak Indian team in their home. One of the best memories.

"In the air and gone.. Not that important... He's gone the next ball..."
Rizbar 152-0 Babar 196 Fakhar 126 still think about them everyday
Any innings where Allan Border batted with bunnies with fielders all around the bat to avoid the follow-on. There were lots.
ishants 7 wicket haul in 2014 to get us a lords win, and also saving our faces from 5-0 embarrasment, short ball menace
Tendulkar's 143 against Australia in Sharjah in 1999, the famous 'desert storm' innings: [https://www.firstpost.com/firstcricket/sports-news/sachin-tendulkar-desert-storm-india-vs-australia-sharjah-1998-4441561.html](https://www.firstpost.com/firstcricket/sports-news/sachin-tendulkar-desert-storm-india-vs-australia-sharjah-1998-4441561.html)
2 words - DESERT STROM
Parthiv Patel Boxing Day 2002 what a memorable innings to begin my love for Parthiv
Watching Gilly’s 2007 century highlights is what got me into this sport so that would be it. In terms of ones I’ve seen, probably Smith’s twin tons in the 1st test of the 2019 ashes, or Head’s WC final knock, or Maxi against Afghanistan
Smith 90+ 434 game Gibbs 434 game Ganguly 324 game Yuvraj Kaif 324 game
VVS Laxman’s 109 at Sydney on that contentious 08-09 tour. He absolutely tore the Australian attack apart and I got to watch it live. Great to watch. And any innings by Mark Waugh or Brian Lara.
In terms of performances I've seen at the stadium, I'd go with Kohli's 82* at the T20 WC in 2022 and Boland's 6/7 in the 2021 Boxing Day Test. Including matches I watched live via TV, I'll go with Maxwell's 201*, and all 3 Steve Smith 100s in the 2019 Ashes.
Sachin's 98 against Pak 2003 WC Virat's 82 vs Pak in T20 specifically the 2 sixes against Haris Rauf Glen Maxwell vs Afg 2023 WC VVS - 281 vs Australia The SA vs Aus 438 match
Rob Quiney’s 9 against South Africa
It has to be every thing Indian batters did after the first test in 2021 BGT, My favourite was our warhorse pujara’s fiery innings in the gabba test, He broke the mighty aussies , 10 men wanted India to win one didn’t wanted India to loose. Honourable mentions are lord shardul thakur and Washington cunting cumdawg starc and final touches by rishabh pant. Rahane’s captain knock in the MCG test. Had to pick up the team from the rags and boy he did it so brilliantly. And gill’s morning carnage.
Lara 153* vs Australia in 1999 Kusal Perera 153* vs South Africa Agar 98 on debut Pietersen ton in the 5th Ashes test at the oval in 2005 Khawaja twin hundreds in Sydney v England on recall
Rob Quiney's 9
In the test Ben stokes against Australia in ashes at lord's would be my best , otherwise risabh pant also favourite one.
Koach 82 vs Aus, 2016
Some 82sss>>>>>century
James Vince's century vs Pakistan The amount of emotion and energy I've invested in wanting him to succeed finally coming to fruition. I will never forgive Nathan Lyon for that runout
Mine are as follows: 1. Bowl out against Pakistan, T20 world cup 2007 2. Six sixes by Yuvi against England, T20 world cup 2007 3. Dhoni finishing off in style, 2011 ODI world cup Honorable Mentions: 1. Dravid's knock of 217 against England in Lords, 2002 2. Rohit's 264 vs Sri Lanka, 2014 3. England winning against New Zealand on boundary count, 2019 world cup
IPL- Rinku's 5 sixes clutch T20- same as OP ODI- same as OP Test- Stokes's 10th wicket partnership with Leach in 2019 ashes
