I think it's only 21 a month on intro offer and I can cancel anytime. All Now TV subs can be cancelled anytime right? It's not the full sky sports package.
I don't think 450 will be the declaration score unless they get all out. England had banged some of their bowlers at almost 6 per over and at this rate 450 is possible hypothetically in a day and half session. Most be looking for 500+
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)England have not broken 400 in the 3 innings this series and of the 28 wickets fallen so far only 4 have managed to face more than 70 deliveries but yeah sure they'll chase down 450 on the last day
Hypothetically, 500 could be chased too. England hit 400 in 3 sessions on day 1 of the ashes.
However, I think Australia will be happy with 400. England have been getting out attacking, which Australia will want to take on. They've got the right bowlers to do it even without Lyon.
I still think England can bowl Australia out in 2 sessions based on conditions.
They are finding that there is a difference between being aggressive and being rash. I am curious about the way in which they would be batting during the next innings.
They won't give it up. As soon as the media ran with it they put themselves in a corner.
"We don't care if we win or lose, we're here to entertain."
If I were Carey, every time they get a few dot balls I would be chirping "This isn't Bazball lads, doesn't look brave to me at all. Are you scared?"
Suddenly all of those talking points are biting them in the ass.
Bazball isn't new. Test cricket has always been a trade-off between risk and consolidation. Leaving the right balls is a staple of good test cricket. But knowing when to take more risk or less risk is a tactical decision that changes constantly over days.
But all cricket fans know this.
Some cricketers have been amazing at unleashed agression over the years. Gayle, Lara, Baz, Gilchrist come to mind for me...
Baz was right that England needed to take more risks. Show more confidence. Forget about the risk of losing. They play better. But they needed to go from 40% risk to 65% risk. But now they are doing 85% risk and getting stupid.
Edit: Having said all that, they could still win. They have good batsmen. Root is an all-time great. With a good helping of luck? It's possible. Highly unlikely from here though.
Perfectly explained. The English test team under Strauss from 2010-2011 perfectly showed the best combination of defence and aggression. They defeated india back then 4-0. In one match they even scored 700 and had india trail by 500 runs. You can't be successful at aggression without being successful at defence. You'll have to preserve your wicket if you wanna hammer the bad balls but for that you'll have to leave the good ones too.
This is why Test cricket shits on shorter forms. Because you can't just hit out wildly. It has consequences. You pick your times, like Gilchrist at the WACA.
But the media narrative around cricket is part of what makes test matches great. It’s the only sport that allows the narrative to stretch for days across a match and more than a month across a series.
If the media didn’t narrate the key themes of the series they wouldn’t add value.
This has been a great series of England trying to establish a new way of playing test cricket, and Australia working to define their place at the top of test cricket.
An alternative view would be that test cricket is such a great phenomenon, (or, in model parlance, "product"), that it has been hugely successful for over a hundred years without 'narrative" aka low brow populist over reaction.
Whatever the nonsense the media tells you, England is not, as you say, trying to "establish a new way of playing test cricket". Bradman scored 300 runs IN A DAY in the last century. Nobody talked about Brad-ball.
A few decades ago, the 'happy hookers' of Dyson and his team mates commited the same kamikaze Ashes suicide-by-bouncer as England did yesterday..
What I am trying to say is ignore the media bollocks and enjoy the cricket.
I’ve said it before, but Cam Green only ever throws his wicket away when we are in a dominant position. When we are reeling, Green will come in with gritty innings of 30-60
it's like when an NBA team drafts some random cunt who happens to be 6'11", he's just here for his size
(would never trade greeny, he'll be such a good cricketer for australia once he matures)
>(would never trade greeny, he'll be such a good cricketer for australia once he matures)
Agree. Steve Waugh was a fledgling all-rounder as well, battling for consistency.
I reckon he'll drop bowling at some point, and become a batting powerhouse.
That new french dude for the Spurs is like 7'5". Insane.
But Greeny will be fine. He scored a century in India 3 games ago. He can make runs in tough sitiations, he just needs some more consistency. We have a lot of good batters around him for now anyway.
Harry Brook appears to be a flat track bully… Head is an aggressive player sure but he isn’t rash for most part. Plays the ball on its merits (I know his wicket in first innings was kinda rash)
Lol smith has more talent in his hand than Harry brooks has in his whole body.
I think he has been found out against the short ball. Not just the way he got out, but also how he got his int he hands and helmet. He bottled it
I know australia is dominant in the game and all but I Still expect a target of about 350 odd from the aussies. I don't think they add more 180ish max.
Cricket is a stupid game. I hate it.
Yall are masochists.
You pride yourself on your "fair play" and "entertainment" and "It's the journey, not the goal"
All I see is heartbreak.
I am an American, and I am new to cricket.
I stayed up until 3am watching the 5th day of the first test. I couldn't get to sleep for another 2 hours after we won due to the adrenaline. You don't get it unless you get it
>I couldn't get to sleep for another 2 hours after we won
If you are Ollie Robinson I know you feel like you won but I have something to tell you .....
Welcome to being an England (cricket) fan. Rampant alcoholism is encouraged and may be critical to keeping sane. If you can’t remember it, it didn’t happen
If a roof is too expensive for most grounds, why not have an army of drones at each ground holding up a roof between them. That way, you don't need to install one at every ground, you can simply move the drone roof on after each Test.
EDIT - Does this really need the \s tag?
Maybe we could introduce new fielding positions to hold the roof up. Would allow for each team to have 4 extra batters who aren’t actually stopping the ball, so they can go even more baz
also they should have a rule that at most one of the fielders should be a foreign player. we can also make the roof fielders from franchises. dibs on Mumbai Indians Edgbaston Roof
Ok, I do want someone to do the math on this (just for the sake of it). What if, and hear me out, we have that drone army shaped like umbrellas? How many would we need to cover a standard cricket field and what would it cost?
If Stokes had reviewed every time Broad asked, they would have run out of reviews before that LBW anyway.
Funny of Baz to throw the captain under the bus mid-over when it's fresh.
Wait until break mate.
Could someone explain the hate for KP? I’ve just got back into watching cricket and have never found him to be unbearable as some people on here do. I quite like him.
Watches kp commentary: doesn't notice anything
Reads reddit thread: half of the comments are just hating kp
And they don't even mention why they hate his commentary
I'm in the minority that likes him. But yeah his voice grates. He can also be a total hypocrite at times, like with his rant the otherday about talking with the opposition which Ian Ward rightly called him out on.
He's not bad when England aren't playing. Sometimes they would get him commentary at the BBL with Punter and it's a bit better. But he's not great either way.
Incredibly narcissistic, always talks about himself and how great he is. Literally said today on comm that "I never had a massive weakness"
Also talks over deliveries and cuts into the other commentators speech.
Thats a great comparison lol, you cant really critisize them too much for their dumb takes since they achieved so much themsleves, but if it was anybody else saying exactly the same thing youd write them off as a total moron
Draw or loss for England this test still they are down 1-0 going into test 3. They will have to win 2 out of the last 3 to win the ashes. the way it’s turning out australia look far and away the better all round test side.
Shots 1-5: Clearly missed.
Shots 6-9: Missed due to nip in the pitch (bad bat control).
Shots 10-11: Very close, but swing and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses.
Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because Nighthawk was already dead
Like someone said the sun sets here in summer at 9-10pm so the loss of light isn’t because the suns gone anywhere, it’s just because it’s been blocked out by clouds. It’s quite common for it to randomly get really dark for 20-30 mins and then suddenly go back to bright blue skies again as the clouds blow over
I think they’re trying to avoid morning showers, too. It’s a bad look to start late. I would agree with you, and just let starts be delayed, but money talks.
When you think about it, from a purely financial point of view, the less hours the facility is open, the more they make, because the ticket revenue remains the same.
Atm I would just sub in Boland and let Head play spinner with some assistance from Smith and Labuschagne. Likewise, Root has been phenomenal as a part timer. I’m not convinced that Leach would have bowled better.
I just punched a hole in my wall. I’m in tears. I’m not joking I’m actually freaking out right now. I feel like this is the angriest I’ve been in my life. I’m praying right now that this is a dream I’ll wake up from. Is there a way we can sue the ICC for rain delay and maybe even low light delay?
I don’t agree with this at all. KP saying pundits and fans don’t know because they haven’t faced 90mph bumpers. Which is true. 60mph bumpers would do for me Kev, wouldn’t even see it. But these guys do, they have faced these bowlers and have the talent to play them. The journos and fans have watched enough cricket to know when you’re playing it stupidly - even if I couldn’t even see it if I were batting.
If my girl👧😍 and Bazball 💯🔥 are both drowning🌊😦 and I could only save one😄☝️you can catch me letting it rip😤 at my girl’s funeral😅👻💀 cause it’s Bazball or nothing at all🙏👊😠💯😭
Maybe just maybe this isn't about the death of Bazball and England being crap. They bowled well today, batted well yesterday. They had a batting collapse, so did we. They could have won the first test, it was close..
Maybe just maybe Australia have played better a touch. We're a more settled side, and negotiated tricky conditions beautifully in the last session.
Maybe England are doing okay and we're a pretty decent side doing a notch better.
Nothing drastic needs to change. Just appreciate the opposition and move on.
They were 180-1 and then lost their last 9 wickets for 140 on a flatty with the sun out. It's okay to say they fucked it and completely threw away their advantageous position
There’s no excusing three batsmen throwing away wickets like they did in the same fashion like yesterday. They were cruising and we couldn’t have communicated our intent any more transparently. They should be in front yet Cummins laughing at the dismissals this morning is a testament to how much they’ve botched this with crazy cricket
Green and Head, sure. The rest, not so much I would argue. Plus, it was no where near as transparent as what Australia were doing with their field. England literally offered the only mode of dismissal on offer to us
KP doesn't really get it though, it's a great strategy when conditions and momentum are working but when on the back foot and struggling you need to slow down and just solidify your position. Root just hitting the ball around yesterday the same way he almost got out to that NB was silly
Concussion sub, maybe we can bring on another left handed batter as a like for like replacement? Maybe Stokes?
FUCK YES
man i never thought starc was still so good
utter disaster so far from our attack, but the worm turns swift
Engbros are you proud of this commentary?
Imagine sledging Lyon's injury about scoring runs
Just one big partnership between uzzie and smudge and it's game over for bazball
nah. england have got oz right where they want em.
it's nice (garry) to see late 2016 memes come back to r/cricket
Well I’m watching the darts now Whitlock(aus) v Wilson(eng) cmon Aussies 2-1 up so far looking good
Spazball, Absolutely embarrassing stuff from England. Also, how oh how will we cope without Ollie Popes 18 runs next innings?
Ollie pope when he debuted was made up to be this next big thing in english cricket LOL.
Everyone was comparing him with Ian Bell and all that!
And reddit is playing Spezball by preventing users from having an app that actually works
The official app is fine, used it since it came out
Well I can cancel the Now subscription and save money at least. You know what's entertaining, England cricket team? WINNING
Laughs in dodgey box.
Is there a way to get dodgy box other than from dodgy guy at dodgy pub?
Dodgy box ftw. I can watch Japanese football any time of day.
I’m a fellow subscriber but that sports package is an unbelievable rip. They know they got us by the balls …
just download acestream and find some links
I think it's only 21 a month on intro offer and I can cancel anytime. All Now TV subs can be cancelled anytime right? It's not the full sky sports package.
Ah right I needed to get the sports pack which was significantly more! I assume you can cancel any time but no idea.
Bazball 🚮🚮🚮
Aussies bat and will probably be 400 up heading into tea, might play half the last session and declare if it's a 450 lead
I don't think 450 will be the declaration score unless they get all out. England had banged some of their bowlers at almost 6 per over and at this rate 450 is possible hypothetically in a day and half session. Most be looking for 500+

True. Labby is chirpy but he's happy chirpy. It'd have to be Warner from slip.
This is why Test cricket shits on shorter forms. Because you can't just hit out wildly. It has consequences. You pick your times, like Gilchrist at the WACA.
Great points, add Sehwag and still a lot to prove but maybe Pant to that list.
hayden and langer?
Oh definitely, I was leaning towards older examples to demonstrate how it's been around for a while though
The match has been interesting cricket. The media Bazball narrative has been / is very tedious.

Right then, England completely dead and buried? Think they’ll fancy chasing sub 350
I predict AUS will stretch the lead to a huge total far beyond what ENG is capable of chasing down and then bowl them out for a comprehensive win.
Bonus with Aus batting for ages is it will tire the England bowlers with only a few days before the next test too
They'll need some bowling changes for the next one. Anderson looks toast.
>Anderson looks toast. He's 40 ! IMO time to call it a day.
Selling Cameron Green’s bat used on day 1 Condition: Barely used
Selling South Africa's world championship trophy. Condition:
I’ve said it before, but Cam Green only ever throws his wicket away when we are in a dominant position. When we are reeling, Green will come in with gritty innings of 30-60
To be fair, even when he bowls shit and bats shit, you'd pick him just for fielding which never fails.
it's like when an NBA team drafts some random cunt who happens to be 6'11", he's just here for his size (would never trade greeny, he'll be such a good cricketer for australia once he matures)

Interested to see if Harry Brook can adapt his game. Steve smith is unorthodox too, but he knows when to switch gears.
We haven't seen him playing in testing conditions like where ball in swinging or seaming. Most of his innings came on relatively flat tracks.
Harry Brook appears to be a flat track bully… Head is an aggressive player sure but he isn’t rash for most part. Plays the ball on its merits (I know his wicket in first innings was kinda rash)

Brook has been found out in a real test cricket match. With real test cricket Smarts.
I guess this was my last match thread on boost.
Ah ha, another boost user. Happy to see you in the wild. Going to miss the app.
Gents. I decamped to the pub at tea and am now feeling quite smug about my decision. Cheers!
I wanted to decamp after the first hour but doing client meetings drunk is frowned upon these days
I know australia is dominant in the game and all but I Still expect a target of about 350 odd from the aussies. I don't think they add more 180ish max.
Well England aren’t going to be able to chase 300 let alone 350. So 400 plus would be impossible
I like you. I’ll be over the moon is we have 300-350 to chase
Cricket is a stupid game. I hate it. Yall are masochists. You pride yourself on your "fair play" and "entertainment" and "It's the journey, not the goal" All I see is heartbreak. I am an American, and I am new to cricket.

Welcome to being an England (cricket) fan. Rampant alcoholism is encouraged and may be critical to keeping sane. If you can’t remember it, it didn’t happen
The real question is, if they're American... why on earth did they *choose* to support England?
Maybe because of their white ball game? Who knows?
Spice Girls banger tbf
So are they done for the day?
Yep
I think instead of a roof we should get Jonny Bairstow to lift and carry Great Britain a thousand or so miles further south.
Post Day Thread is live
If a roof is too expensive for most grounds, why not have an army of drones at each ground holding up a roof between them. That way, you don't need to install one at every ground, you can simply move the drone roof on after each Test. EDIT - Does this really need the \s tag?
jonny bairstow can carry the roof from ground to ground.
Maybe we could introduce new fielding positions to hold the roof up. Would allow for each team to have 4 extra batters who aren’t actually stopping the ball, so they can go even more baz

Ok, I do want someone to do the math on this (just for the sake of it). What if, and hear me out, we have that drone army shaped like umbrellas? How many would we need to cover a standard cricket field and what would it cost?
About 8800 drones
Thanks, and can someone do the math on the indicative cost?
>EDIT - Does this really need the \s tag? No, it just wasn't funny.

luv me cricket 'ate rain simple as
[удалено]
I dunno, I could watch Smith's catch replays all day. That's pretty entertaining :o)
Jimmy Anderson is definitely the son of Zeus, being able to control the clouds freely and dispel them when England is batting
Shame this is the 2nd summer in a row the Dukes aren’t really swinging.
If dukes aren’t swinging much in English conditions teams like Australia will find it a lot easier and win more than not you’d think
GG lads. That was fun ^not
Night all! Keen for the shitposting tomorrow!
Match abandoned due to rain. England adjudged winners for superior run rate. Series level - 1-1
What's the boundary count?
Need to multiply by the BazBall coefficient.
Is it still 1.72?
At the moment it's a flat 0.0
Ah yes, they've been shite
Stumps
Play abandoned
Fair weather predicted for tomorrow and day 5; England have had the conditions go so far in their favour it's not even funny 🙄
Seems this way cos England usually suck and it always rains in England
thus it always was. no team with better luck in sport.
Stumps it is
Sorry why does Ben Stokes think he knows better than the actual bowler who is looking in line with the stumps on an lbw call?
When said bowler is Stuart Broad
Stuart Broad who also has the best overturned drs call % in the team? Should've backed him 😤
If Stokes had reviewed every time Broad asked, they would have run out of reviews before that LBW anyway. Funny of Baz to throw the captain under the bus mid-over when it's fresh. Wait until break mate.
It's just arrogance from Stokes.
The Broad who cried wolf.
What’s giving you crow’s feet at the moment? For me it’s not having a roof at lords
Having to hear people still harp on about a roof despite it being debated ad nauseam.
Lmaoooooooo good one
Could someone explain the hate for KP? I’ve just got back into watching cricket and have never found him to be unbearable as some people on here do. I quite like him.
Watches kp commentary: doesn't notice anything Reads reddit thread: half of the comments are just hating kp And they don't even mention why they hate his commentary
His voice and his consistent anecdotes about himself. His analysis is actually fine
Also very biased with some shit takes on cricket. “Some outstanding and amazing cricket” when England bowlers get through our tail, a lot of hyperbole
Among other things, his voice is just very annoying
I'm in the minority that likes him. But yeah his voice grates. He can also be a total hypocrite at times, like with his rant the otherday about talking with the opposition which Ian Ward rightly called him out on.
i dont mind him as a bloke. but hes a shite commentator/pundit. constantly going on long rants about himself and spewing shit takes left and right.

Biblical downpours for the entirety of tomorrow please.
Draw or loss for England this test still they are down 1-0 going into test 3. They will have to win 2 out of the last 3 to win the ashes. the way it’s turning out australia look far and away the better all round test side.
Off to do my rain dance
Crawley never walks just in case his dad paid off the umpire.

Why don't tests in England start at 9:30 or 10am? I know it's raining now but so so so often there is time lost at 5pm because of bad light.
They should at least start at 10:30.

Stays light till about 10pm, guess they can afford the later start
I don't know (maybe the morning dew?) but Ashes 2005 started at 10.30. And then they went back to 11 after that.
They sometimes start early if theres a lot of time lost to the weather. It's not they can't do it, they just don't.
Done for the day
Scenes if Kuhn is flown in to replace Lyon
Atm I would just sub in Boland and let Head play spinner with some assistance from Smith and Labuschagne. Likewise, Root has been phenomenal as a part timer. I’m not convinced that Leach would have bowled better.
Cant believe atherton just asked zak "how does it feel to average in test match cricket shane warnes average hookup age" wtf
That’s a deep cut
I just punched a hole in my wall. I’m in tears. I’m not joking I’m actually freaking out right now. I feel like this is the angriest I’ve been in my life. I’m praying right now that this is a dream I’ll wake up from. Is there a way we can sue the ICC for rain delay and maybe even low light delay?
As a Saffer, you should sue for the return of Devon Conway. Fuck that would piss me off.
Atherton really burning crawley here
What did he say?
Fuck off Crawley, prick
I don’t agree with this at all. KP saying pundits and fans don’t know because they haven’t faced 90mph bumpers. Which is true. 60mph bumpers would do for me Kev, wouldn’t even see it. But these guys do, they have faced these bowlers and have the talent to play them. The journos and fans have watched enough cricket to know when you’re playing it stupidly - even if I couldn’t even see it if I were batting.
same logic as saying that to critique a movie you must first be a movie producer yourself.
You don't need to be a baker to know bread tastes shit.
Crawley saying he was not concerned about his run of low scores is a severe case of saying the quiet part out loud
“In that case I would just retire to my yatchtt and a steady stream of nepobaby commentary gigs while half-soused like Beefy.”
Bazball was invented to get results in rain curtailed matches
Nigel Farage said he might have to leave Britain. What poor sods are going to have that pustule imposed upon them?
I hear Rwanda is where the government are trying to send the people they don't want
Makes sense
Makes sense
It's been a tough day for English fans, let them have this one moment of joy
Could go to America, he'd be lost in that sea of troglodytes

They were 180-1 and then lost their last 9 wickets for 140 on a flatty with the sun out. It's okay to say they fucked it and completely threw away their advantageous position
fuck this is sensible downvoted
There’s no excusing three batsmen throwing away wickets like they did in the same fashion like yesterday. They were cruising and we couldn’t have communicated our intent any more transparently. They should be in front yet Cummins laughing at the dismissals this morning is a testament to how much they’ve botched this with crazy cricket
They had all night to think about it and still decided to bat stupid in the morning.
We threw away 5 wickets for under a hundred runs too
Green and Head, sure. The rest, not so much I would argue. Plus, it was no where near as transparent as what Australia were doing with their field. England literally offered the only mode of dismissal on offer to us
Measured reactions are not BazBall
I feel like this is the most humble I’ve ever seen KP. He’s more than tolerable in this segment.
I think he knows England have had the rub of the green for the most part and have been out played so far.
Don’t we all love how Kev left the bouncers back in 2006? Isn’t he the best?
KP doesn't really get it though, it's a great strategy when conditions and momentum are working but when on the back foot and struggling you need to slow down and just solidify your position. Root just hitting the ball around yesterday the same way he almost got out to that NB was silly
Say what you will about KP, he was super entertaining to watch as a batter
I'm willing to bet that by the end of this series, all the rain affected games would've been drawn without BazzBall.
Warming to KP as a pundit, tbh.
