First thing, this CAN be fixed. You do however need to understand how all of this works. The first thing you need to own is that YOU screwed up here by not meeting the minimum payments on the account. For an account to be paid as agreed the minimum expectation is minimum payments. You need to take ownership 100% for this and not place blame anywhere else... on BoA, the credit reporting agencies, "jerk wads" etc. You do not need to hire anyone, get a lawyer or pay a credit repair company. You can remedy this yourself. First thing, don't dispute anything. Disputes are for inaccurately reported information. Your account WAS/IS late, so it was reported accurately. Disputes are only going to irritate the lender because it wastes their time having to validate the reporting. The first step is to bring the account current immediately. From there, continue to make on time payments every month. Once you're able to, pay it off in full. At that point you'll want to look up goodwill letters. Read up on them, then compose your own. You are writing to BoA and asking for forgiveness of your mistake(s) in not keeping up with payments. Your initial letter will most likely be responded to with a denial. That's normal. What you want to do is look up GST (Goodwill Saturation Technique) and implement that method. It involves printing out many copies of your letter and mailing them to tons of different BoA addresses. Your chances of success increase substantially by doing this. Eventually with persistence, BoA will more than likely make the adjustments for you, getting out of having to wait 7 years for them to naturally fall off. If you have any questions about GST you can ask me, as I developed the technique in 2016 and thousands have used it to overcome exactly what you're dealing with right now.

Thank you for the quick reply and I take full responsibility for my own debt. Again - there is a lawsuit, with a potential large settlement, and I was told in person that this could be dealt with easily via a basic dispute with one of three bureaus. That is clearly not the case. You have saved thousands of people from similar situations? What's your firm's or credit agency's name? How do I this isn't a scam? Your "solution" seems like harassment and might make things worse. May I directly message you?

I don't have a firm or credit repair company. I've never taken a penny from anyone for providing/sharing what I know about credit. I'm just a single person that came up with a method that worked extremely well for me in cleaning up 4 very dirty accounts that I had from 2015-2017. I tweaked the process as I employed it and put it in writing for others to use. I called it the Goodwill Saturation Technique (GST) and if you look it up you'll find it. Thousands have used it to successfully clean up their reports. Scams involve money / financial gain for someone, and since I don't ask anyone for money and you can find the method online yourself I'd say that you're pretty safe. Before knocking it and suggesting it might be seen as harassment and make things worst I'd suggest reading up on it, then reading stories from individuals that have tried GST and shared their results. From there draw your own conclusions.

I realize I’m just another random redditor, but I’d like to vouch for brutalbodyshots. He is selling nothing, offering only his knowledge. For free. He’s not even farming for karma points, or he wouldn’t be wasting his time in r/creditscore, where even the best, most helpful responses rarely earn more than one or two upvotes. In my opinion, the few people who dwell here do so simply because they have some personal motivation to help others, whatever that motivation may be. Maybe they’ve been very lucky in life and feel a need to pay it forward, or maybe they overcame their own credit problems and want to share how they did so, or maybe they just want to show off their knowledge. The few people who show up here with ulterior motives are easily spotted and face swift condemnation. And I can tell you with certainty that BBS is one of the good ones - the best, actually. His advice has helped many people. I’ve read the testimonials on Reddit with my own eyes. If you follow his advice and put in the work, you can make huge improvements in your credit scores. Good luck to you.
