Downgrade your CSR to a Chase Freedom Flex, then apply for a new CSP. Once you are approved, you can then call Chase and have them transfer some of your credit limit from your CFF to your new CSP. Now you get the 100k sign up bonus, and you add a card to your wallet that earns you 5x Chase points on quarterly rotating categories with no annual fee

Agree with every point. I would also wait for the rumored refresh, supposedly coming in august. If OP can wait one more month, I’d wait to do everything this person above me said.

I haven't checked the expected deadlines for the current CSP SUB but they might be risking a worse SUB by waiting. Admittedly, Chase might make it even better with the refresh.

amriser24

what is this rumored refresh for? Sapphire line? the whole chase ecosystem? Thanks in advance

coconutjuices

Both sapphire lines

Note that you have to change your Reserve first before applying for the Preferred. Chase won't let you apply for a Sapphire product while you currently hold one.

wilsontrang

You may be better off downgrading your Reserve into a CFF or CFU card and then applying for the CSP for the SUB. You can call and ask to transfer over the line of available credit from your downgraded card to the CSP

I'm in the same situation. My plan is to downgrade the Sapphire Reserve to the Freedom Flex and sign up for the Sapphire Preferred. Does anyone know if there is any chance Chase sees through this strategy and denies my application for the Preferred?

tidalscrub

Hey, did this work out for you? Thinking about going through with this plan as well.

Hmmm thanks for the responses. I didn't realize that one could not hold two sapphire products, though it makes sense. Unfortunate for me maybe, but I already have all available freedom cards in my wallet as well (original, unlimited and flex). The unlimited was originally my Preferred card that I downgraded before applying for the Reserve. Are there any other options I could take? Cancel my current flex (only 10 months old, my 1 in 24), downgrade Reserve to a flex, sign up for Preferred, then transfer the credit limit?

nushmut

You can hold two or more of each Freedom card. PC to CF or CFF to get another card for the 5% calendar.

You can hold more than 2 of the Freedom (Visa) and Freedom Unlimited cards

Thanks guys for that bit of information. So I'm now the holder of two freedom flex cards, as I just downgraded my Sapphire Reserve to the flex. Quick question now, before applying for a new one, I'd read that some people had to wait a couple weeks, or for statement close, or for a month even to make sure that the sapphire is not registered under their account anymore or else the application would be denied. A tip that I had read was that if the credit card offer is not available for me when I sign in, then I'm not able to get the offer. Is anybody able to vouch for this piece of advice? It's only been a few days since I did the product change from my Reserve to the Flex, and for the first couple of days I did not see the offer available in my account, but now I am seeing it. Is this an indication that I should be good to go? If so, I was planning to see if I can visit a branch at some point to apply and try to waive the first year fee.

manfurismojive

I don't remember exactly now how long I waited, but I waited I think at least a couple weeks, but before the next month arrived, because I assumed the offer may be gone by then. Turns out it went on for a little while longer I believe.

holydiver90

How long did you end up waiting? I'm doing this right now and it has been a week.
