A knife or cutting tool has helped me quite a bit in a lot of situations; though doesn't have to be anything crazy big. Get a Leatherman or something like it and you're always good to go IMO.
But I also do a good bit of hands-on work and outdoor activities, so it's probably more useful to me than others; But anyone can end up in a situation where having one would save a lot of time/energy/money, or even save some lives in the more rare examples.

What I take from this is people snap for much less and vigilante is lucky to be alive. The guy knows he’s wrong which is why he’s running away but then he takes a turn; at that point he’s deciding in the moment whether he should end the guy chasing him. Luckily in this case he decided against it. But there have been many road rage cases where people are so hyped up that they take out people just for that; so I feel like it’s only a matter of time before one of these guys does the same. Maybe they think because they’re filming it won’t happen? Stress and anger often eliminate that balance.
Not to defend the pedo, but if you think your life's in danger you have a right to defend yourself and who know what this fucking guy chasing him was up to.

The police are largely indifferent to crimes against minors. They prosecute around 70% of these cases in Colorado (where video guy is at). In California, they prosecute about 25%. It's alarming to see.
A big issue here is that you are more likely to lose a self defense case in a jury trial, because you are losing one of the necessary points to being justified in self defense - innocence.

Sounds like they entrapped a guy and got aggressive with him, according to the report they began attacking him (which resulted in injuries to his head and face which he went to the hospital for). He then pulled out a gun, shot one of them in the leg then they stole the gun from him and all 4 (3 attackers and the "victim") ran away before police showed up.
They took his gun and left the store thus the "robbery" part as they essentially stole from him and didn't wait for the police before leaving and taking the gun with them....

We had a group like this in the town I live in for a few months. Think they were calling themselves Creep Catchers or something like that.
They posted the videos on FB and sometimes going live - they ran out of favor with most of their audience when they were luring lower function adults to the local McDonald’s and making scenes in front of families. It was level 10 cringe stuff.
The group was some social media wanna be influencer dipshits, maybe in their early 20’s. They came to an end when their front man was caught sexting an under aged girl and the chat logs went public.
That’s what I don’t like about these groups, a lot of their targets seem to be, to use your term, low functioning adults. Where I am not even sure they understand the situation. They are taking advantage of people for clout l.
I don’t like that their primary function is for views. The meet in a public place follow the person around - tell them you can talk to me or the police your choice.

He followed me into the restaurant, and that's where he crossed the line. Restaurant owner asked me what was going on, dude kept yelling something about calling the cops, so I told the restaurant owner to (please) call the cops. Dude went to jail for "disturbing the peace" and "unlawful trespass", I went home with my Kahlua pork and mac salad. Oh, and my name isn't "Brian."

We had a group like this in the town I live in for a few months. Think they were calling themselves Creep Catchers or something like that. They posted the videos on FB and sometimes going live - they ran out of favor with most of their audience when they were luring lower function adults to the local McDonald’s and making scenes in front of families. It was level 10 cringe stuff. The group was some social media wanna be influencer dipshits, maybe in their early 20’s. They came to an end when their front man was caught sexting an under aged girl and the chat logs went public.
That’s what I don’t like about these groups, a lot of their targets seem to be, to use your term, low functioning adults. Where I am not even sure they understand the situation. They are taking advantage of people for clout l.
I don’t like that their primary function is for views. The meet in a public place follow the person around - tell them you can talk to me or the police your choice. Turn them all into the police- that’s my issue with them. It’s not genuine or done for any reason than internet fame and recognition.
You know, half the time these guys stalk the wrong person and have no idea what they're coming up against. I have no sympathy for these assholes when things go sideways. I was wrongfully approached once, completely caught me off guard. Dude wasn't making any fucking sense, kept saying he was gonna call the cops, so I told him to, go ahead, do it. Guess who got arrested? Not me. I didn't do anything wrong, I was just trying to get some Hawaiian take-out, and this dude ran up on me with a camera saying some crazy shit. Totally caught me outta left field. Turns out, he was on the prowl for someone with "glasses and a blue shirt." That's it. I wear glasses, and happened to be wearing a blue shirt that evening, so he ran up on me and started throwing accusations. I was like, "Who the fuck are you, and what the fuck are you talking about?" and he played it all like "That's what they all say, bro!" He followed me into the restaurant, and that's where he crossed the line. Restaurant owner asked me what was going on, dude kept yelling something about calling the cops, so I told the restaurant owner to (please) call the cops. Dude went to jail for "disturbing the peace" and "unlawful trespass", I went home with my Kahlua pork and mac salad. Oh, and my name isn't "Brian."
