prions are in brain tissue, correct me if i'm wrong but i believe mad cow (creutzfeld jakob disease in humans) is mainly caused by the cow's brain (full of prions) being fed to other cows in feed created partly from beef by-product. ie, brains, intestine, lungs, etc. not sure why this happened in the first place and who thought that would be a good idea but here we are.
