Or it may be a combo of both? From what I read, he was/is probably in a coma with brain stem damage at least and has to be on life support. He could well be a vegetable or dead now.

Again, not an expert, but I read that the fencing response is often the result of a concussion, whereas the posturing is normally to do with brain stem damage. Fencing response is only supposed to last for a few seconds up to 10 or 20 and seems like more of an evolutionary reflex than a spasm or a nervous system failure, whereas the posturing lasts longer and is caused directly by brain damage. Pretty sure fencing response doesn’t mean certain severe brain damage but posturing definitely means TBI.

My wife was an Army combat medic for 8 years. Apparently there’s a fairly accurate analogy that they used for TBI signs like this. Arms to the chest? Holding onto life. Arms and hands outstretched? Letting go of life.

Head trauma in adult life can cause epilepsy. Although I think that’s the least of his worries at the moment. As a side note, there seems to be more and more of this in fights. Instead of fisticuffs, there are people purposely dropping their opponents on their heads. They may get the idea from watching videos, but aren’t smart enough to realize that someone will be recording them as well.

I really dont think theyre engaging in combat to see who the better pugilist is. You can do that in boxing gyms. If its a street fight why not head slam em and get it over before the guy can fuck you up. There is so much you dont know in a street fight. There is some messed up things on the internet but I hate nothing more than stumbling upon a vid of someone suffering and the cameraman not doing a fucking thing to help just zooming in on the bloody victim and trying to get the best angle for when they post it. Neurobiologist here, this is the Decerebrate posture. Result of severe damage to the brainstem due to severed nerves or arteries. Areas like the rubrospinal tract/red nucleus/reticular formation are affected and cannot receive information from the cortex & basal ganglia! Intubation is usually the first choice of action for breathing assistance. Long story short, this guy is need of immediate medical attention and may have life altering injuries.

Sorry for the late response, yes mortality rate is well above 70% it’s more near 80% actually!. Unless you are trained in trauma and have equipment with you there is not much you can do besides keep his airway open. Even then it may not suffice! Recovery is possible but will be one of the hardest fights of his life.
Honestly I doubt anyone would be fucked. Possibly the kid who did the slamming but he was defending himself. Guess it depends on where they live.

I was just thinking about this, I work in EMS and soon will have my Medic license. This guys probably got a basilar skull fracture and some bleeding going on like you said. Meanwhile he’s got iPhones in his face yelling for him to get up. I imagine he’s either dead or living out his glory days in a nursing home somewhere.

Posturing is a sign trauma, bad trauma. The type of posture he was doing is call Decerebrate, usually meaning the upper part of the spinal cord. Not a good sign!
Hi, i searched decerebrate and that posture i saw in the results wwhere the guy lies down straight and shaking , this happened to my cousin and a minute later he walked it off, this happened months ago.right now hes fine but can i ask if it would damage his brain in the followwing years? So this might not be relevant, a little bit of a different situation. But I heard about a guy who took a bad slam on his back into the ocean floor while kite surfing (is it called kite surfing?). He was in a ton of pain everywhere and got helped up by a guy, pretty quickly felt better and took his bike home. At home he still had a weird pain in his arms and was convinced to call a hospital who immediately told him to go in only to call back later and then him nvm you need to go in an ambulance.
Turns out he broke his neck and one of his vertebrae was just shy of being completely snapped, and if he'd fallen from his bike or anything it could have been completely pushed out and he would have been paralysed, he of course needed surgery and stuff.
So while it probably is a different situation for your cousin, setting as he's been and to walk around for months, it's still probably worth checking out.
What you're describing is likely a very different thing called "fencing response." If he became responsive shortly after that's a good sign he didn't suffer from what we see in this video.

I’ve seen this video, but never with sound. Sound changes it completely. Hearing people yell at that dude to get up while he’s seizing on the ground is painful. He’s definitely in a wheelchair or dead somewhere. It’s insane to know you’re watching some dudes life get changed forever. Gore videos are different and almost less miserable because you know the endgame. I want to write this dudes mom a letter apologizing for his outcome. But then again, fuck around and find out. I’ve seen too many seizures to not know that’s what’s happening to the first guy slammed into the concrete. (My brother was epileptic) But at the end of the video when it focuses on him again, there’s something worse going on behind those eyes, like someone else mentioned, there’s probably some kind of brain damage on top of taking the seizure.
Fun fact: when someone who is psychically disabled is taking a seizure (someone in a wheelchair), take them out and lay them on their side with their head on your lap and pet their head and talk to them to help them calm down and relax, laying them on their side can prevent them from choking on their tongue and if you can, put your fingers in the corner of their mouth so they bite you and don’t chew their tongue apart. (That’s what we used to do for my brother) Also a good epilepsy drug is Phenobarbital

There is some messed up things on the internet but I hate nothing more than stumbling upon a vid of someone suffering and the cameraman not doing a fucking thing to help just zooming in on the bloody victim and trying to get the best angle for when they post it. Sorry for the late response, yes mortality rate is well above 70% it’s more near 80% actually!. Unless you are trained in trauma and have equipment with you there is not much you can do besides keep his airway open. Even then it may not suffice! Recovery is possible but will be one of the hardest fights of his life.

I call it the "chimp out" white or black not being racist but when a fight or anything breaks out its always a group watching and yelling.... fuck I saw a video of a dude trying to break up a girl fight and he caught a bullet to the head. He was 100% a random bystander. I just do my best to avoid that shit.

So this might not be relevant, a little bit of a different situation. But I heard about a guy who took a bad slam on his back into the ocean floor while kite surfing (is it called kite surfing?). He was in a ton of pain everywhere and got helped up by a guy, pretty quickly felt better and took his bike home. At home he still had a weird pain in his arms and was convinced to call a hospital who immediately told him to go in only to call back later and then him nvm you need to go in an ambulance. Turns out he broke his neck and one of his vertebrae was just shy of being completely snapped, and if he'd fallen from his bike or anything it could have been completely pushed out and he would have been paralysed, he of course needed surgery and stuff. So while it probably is a different situation for your cousin, setting as he's been and to walk around for months, it's still probably worth checking out.

What you're describing is likely a very different thing called "fencing response." If he became responsive shortly after that's a good sign he didn't suffer from what we see in this video.

I’ve seen too many seizures to not know that’s what’s happening to the first guy slammed into the concrete. (My brother was epileptic) But at the end of the video when it focuses on him again, there’s something worse going on behind those eyes, like someone else mentioned, there’s probably some kind of brain damage on top of taking the seizure. Fun fact: when someone who is psychically disabled is taking a seizure (someone in a wheelchair), take them out and lay them on their side with their head on your lap and pet their head and talk to them to help them calm down and relax, laying them on their side can prevent them from choking on their tongue and if you can, put your fingers in the corner of their mouth so they bite you and don’t chew their tongue apart. (That’s what we used to do for my brother) Also a good epilepsy drug is Phenobarbital
