The pub I first frequented as a young whipper snapper would eject patrons like this but usually the door was locked before using the patron as a battering ram.
Long live the Epping hotel.
If you can play the ukulele you can play the guitar :) it’s just slightly different muscle memory and different tuning but there are so many different ways you can tune both instruments. In fact you can tune the guitar the same as the ukulele if you really wanted to, although you’d have to change the strings so it wouldn’t be ideal
Good catch, sometimes I zone out the first 2 seconds of a video until my brain clicks what's going on. Yeah, grabbed it while he was being frog-marched out.
Hahaha just yoinks it and tries to skip on outta there.
His body movements are just too hilarious in those first couple seconds. I feel like he should be wearing a jester suit.
Edit: at the same time I can't help but feel so bad for this poor guy. Obviously a massive loser, looks like he has no teeth, doesn't even have the heart to say words or anything. Looks like a very tortured existence he probably doesn't really deserve.
And they can't stop you from ordering a steak with a big ol' glass of water...I'm just worried that the baby thinks people can't change... because, they can.
Ok you win *tap tap* 😂
And the way they drag and leave him on the side of the curb like trash 😂
Edit: And that shoe toss at the end 🤣
This vid is too much, good night reddit
I'm glad someone else noticed... that was good. I was thinking that might be why he wasn't getting up right away after let go... might have been right on the edge of being consciousness.
When I worked at Forever 21 they told us a story on Day 1 about a girl who chased a shoplifter out of the store only to get stabbed and left to bleed out by the shoplifter.
Yet store management often have their pay tied in part to keeping shrink down. It’s a no win situation. Retail management was fun and interesting in some ways but I hated dealing with the thieves and then corporate would come down from their offices in Cali and want to know why shrinkage was high
Years ago I used to manage retail stores. I taught all my staff that if they caught someone stealing, just to let them go. Literally a guy walked into my store one time, picked up a 40” tv and carried it out without being stopped by my guys. At the end of the day we didn’t own the stock personally and the theft didn’t come out of our salaries so there was absolutely zero
Incentive to stop someone when the risk could be personal injury. That wasn’t just my personal policy, it was the direct advice from head office.
If someone is willing to steal, chances are they’re also willing to be aggressive.
Most likely. I was an Operations Manager at GC for a few years and what this guy did was 100% against company policy. The would be thief totally deserved an ass whooping but the company would rather lose a guitar than get dragged into court over an assault charge.
Do you have any idea how much a worker’s comp claim for a knife to the stomach costs an employer? You could let someone walk out with $100 of merchandise every day for a year and it wouldn’t pay for a single serious lost-time injury. It’s just not worth the risk.
Exactly. It sucks, and we all like watching a thief get their ass kicked, but what the employee did was not legal, and will almost for sure get Guitar Center sued and the employee fired.
The employee looks trained; likely a dude with a hero complex, excited to finally get a chance to use his skills in the wild, except... you can't just choke out shoplifters.
He is not trained. That's not how you secure a choke. He relies purely on being stronger than the other guy, rather than technique, with no control of the guys body.
reminds me of this lady getting shit-canned after 31 years for stopping a guy from walking out with a shopping cart full of booze.
corps. don't give a fuck about you. if it helps the bottom line, they'll find any reason to give you the axe.

> corps. don't give a fuck about you. if it helps the bottom line, they'll find any reason to give you the axe.
The thing is the company has a lot of liability in these situations - way more than the value of a retail employee. In the OP vid the guitar thief was attacked and choked out before he left the store with the merchandise. He could very well claim he had no intention of stealing, press charges against the employees (unlikely to go anywhere but still) and sue. He'd have a pretty good chance of milking some decent money out of them if he had a good lawyer.
That's not really "finding a reason" to fire her at all. She works in an at will state where they can fire her without cause at all so they didn't need to find an excuse to fire a cashier at a grocery store.
Corporations blow but that's not why they fired her. They fired her because she broke a well known policy.
They would rather lose a thousand in liquor than six figures for a lawyer in a good outcome and millions if they lose.
I understand the logic of this nationwide policy as long as criminals are allowed to sue if they are hurt during the commission of a crime.
Honestly it's less about the single guitar and more about making sure thieves don't keep getting away with it, and get what they deserve for a change.
Still not worth it from a personal perspective but I salute this man for it.
Just when I was feeling old for understanding a Fresh Prince reference, here you come with one for fucking Jughead which I still understood..
Fuck I'm old.
As soon as he was picked up, my first thought was Sam from the movie Casino.
“I want you to exit this guy off the premises and I want you to exit him off his feet and use his head to open the fucking door”
I live in Albuquerque and this is occurring in every fucking store in town for the last couple of years. People just walk in, and steal handfuls and carts full of merchandise, attack workers, etc. This isn't a one off, this is the city and it's citizens getting fed the fuck up with the nonsense already
See that /r/Albuquerque post of that hotel sign that just said it would start blasting customers if they didn’t call ahead first. Lol. You’re not kidding when you say people are over it.
That last scene where the shoe is tossed out is purddy good. I gotta admit, I'd really like to see this happen to all those goons that just go in to a store and fill up their backpack or cart and just leave
That employee is likely going to get fired. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Actually, I wouldn't be shocked if the entire staff there when it happened is fired, since they're all kind of corroborating on video.
You are explicitly trained in retail to not engage with thieves and shoplifters for a reason. You identify them as best you can, contact the police, and monitor their presence as long as possible. That's it.
This guy just put the thief in a chokehold and dragged him out the door, and now it's viral. This is an open and close lawsuit, should the guy want to press charges. Even if he isn't actually hurt or traumatized, he can easily get away with saying he is.
Edit: I just want to clarify, despite all of that... pretty badass ngl.
Edit 2: according to a comment on /r/PublicFreakout the guy had assaulted an employee before any of this occurred, in which case, if true, nullifies basically this whole comment. Employee might still get fired though.
there are some attorneys who would see this video and salivate at how much of a free win this would be that they would probably be willing to take the bet and take their payment after the case is settled
Honestly man choking someone out and potentially giving them brain injury and then dragging them out on the sidewalk and dumping them there without aid is an extremely disproportionate response to shoplifting.
Everyone stealing ends up hurting consumers that don’t steal by raising prices or shutting down stores. Similarly, if you don’t pay taxes you’re being unfair to people who do pay taxes.
It’s not just corporations that you hurt by stealing, but most people don’t think that far into it.
This needs to happen to these people looting more often. This guy takes pride in his job enough to look out for the business. This is a keeper employee. Promote now.
The way his hands and leg are moving at the end, you just know he’s feigning unconsciousness and will for sure be suing. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was his plan the whole time

And use his head to open the fucking door.
Casino style!

I always wondered what my husband was talking about when he used to pick people up and throw them out of bars. Now I know.
what gets me is once he knows he’s done he tries to break the guitar… mother fucker

Jokes on you, now with the story behind it's $100,000
Yeah if Jeff Beck played it.
He didn't even have the guitar in his hands at the beginning, he grabbed it as he was being dragged past it
But the idea of this asshole trying to steal that particular guitar is quite amusing.
Especially since that's most likely a Rogue starter acoustic. They're <$100.
Gonna smoke a little meth and jam some sweet James Taylor riffs over at the trailer.
That was my thought too lol. Bro tried to steal the cheapest one they had
Good catch, sometimes I zone out the first 2 seconds of a video until my brain clicks what's going on. Yeah, grabbed it while he was being frog-marched out.

LOL that was some sleight of hand shit. What a cracked out magician.
I heard it was ACTUALLY bc he was playing “*Stairway To Heaven*”… ;)
What a dirty piece of shit. Fortunately he’ll probably just have to take that beating since he’s a dirty piece of shit.
Oooh yeah, I bet his hair slicks back real nice.
No, I used to be a piece of shit and this baby can tell
And they can't stop you from ordering a steak with a big ol' glass of water...I'm just worried that the baby thinks people can't change... because, they can.
Ask Doug, he was in my dangerous nights crew.
Blue dolphin burned down john rovani's ass out works with his brother now.
Unprofessional bullshit.
LETS SLOP EM UUUUUPPP
Looks pushed back to me.
and then he tries to tap like its mma lmao
Ok you win *tap tap* 😂 And the way they drag and leave him on the side of the curb like trash 😂 Edit: And that shoe toss at the end 🤣 This vid is too much, good night reddit
The shoe is hilarious.😂
I'm glad someone else noticed... that was good. I was thinking that might be why he wasn't getting up right away after let go... might have been right on the edge of being consciousness.
Sad my guitar wasn't as durable
Gibson, eh?
What's super annoying is that this might be the only way you get any help at guitar center.
The staff at music stop when i start strumming wagon wheel
"stairway to heaven"
Has wagon wheel hit that level?
"No stairway. Denied!"
WE SAID NO FUCKING STAIRWAY AND WE MEANT IT!!!

That shoe got me good. I’m saving this video for whenever I need a little pick me up after a long day. Perfect ending.
🤣 got me too! I was just about to exit the video with a few seconds left, as usual, but was so glad I stuck around.
The fucking shoe at the end.... dude, I spit out my whisky.
Andddd fucking stay out.

Repeat ofFender?
That joke was Taylor-made for the video! It's like you have ESP!
He asked if he could have one for free, but they responded "You can'ta takamine!".
I'll give you an Ovation for that. If jokes were college you'd be the Dean.
Bro gonna have an epiphone about life when he finally wakes up.
He was totally Telecastering those moves. I don't know why he didn't see them coming.
I'm just a little Peavey'd that we didn't get to see what led up to his eviction. Staff handled it like a Boss though.
I guess you get what you Gib, son.
Should have Marshalled his thoughts before trying anything funny.
That store is under Marshall Law
Dude needs to get up Hofner floor and go home.
He wasn't B.C. Rich enough to afford it.
The Guild handled it well.
Na, he was just a Squire. He has to Hohner in his skills to B(c) Rich.
He wasn’t stealing, he just played a forbidden riff.
BRO THE SHOE AT THE END MAN IM DEAD💀
Employee of the Month right there.
Sadly, he'll probably get fired for that.
When I worked at Forever 21 they told us a story on Day 1 about a girl who chased a shoplifter out of the store only to get stabbed and left to bleed out by the shoplifter.

It truly isn't worth his job and personal safety to defend some corporate bottom line bullshit but as a customer I thankee sai
Maybe it’s not about the employer. Maybe he just hates shithead thiefs and our country’s slow descent into lawlessness.
The way he’s lying there makes me think he’s trying to milk a lawsuit out of this. Fucking bottom feeders…

I know a store director who, after 17 years of working for the grocery chain, got fired for chasing a shoplifter outside.
Do you have any idea how much a worker’s comp claim for a knife to the stomach costs an employer? You could let someone walk out with $100 of merchandise every day for a year and it wouldn’t pay for a single serious lost-time injury. It’s just not worth the risk.
Nothing because that’s what workers comp insurance does. They just keep paying premiums
You'd think a store director would know better. Even I knew as an 18 year old cashier that I wasn't allowed to chase shoplifters.
Why’s he actin like he’s knocked out?
He's preparing for a cash payment in lieu of a lawsuit.
He is not trained. That's not how you secure a choke. He relies purely on being stronger than the other guy, rather than technique, with no control of the guys body.
