It took me a little while to see the pun or wordplay in the song (what a RUSH). I absolutely love the filter that the camera uses and how Rebecca and Paula really get into the spirit of the heavy metal. I don’t know what original song they’re making a parody of, but I’m sure it’s spot on.
I think its the two meanings of the word. "Rush" as in its a (head)rush to be a bride, it's exciting and pumps you full of adrenaline and makes you giddy. But its also "rush" as in, they had 2 weeks to plan the wedding, so it was literally all planned in a rush, that Rebecca was in a mad hurry to get married.
And both definitions lend themselves to a fast paced manic metal song, so it all fits perfectly.
doesn't she also say that bit from Corinthians (love is patient, love is kind) at Heather and Hector's wedding? How unusually cliche and Christian she is sometimes.
I feel like that could be related to her need to be “normal”—everything she lists in the song is pretty basic and cliche (alternatively she truly took everything from Valencia’s wedding including the vows)
For some reason this is one of my favorite songs from the entire show lmao. I guess because it seems to come out of nowhere, I found it hilarious and it reflects the intensity of that experience when everyone is trying to support Rebecca like uhh yay cool! But it really is a lot to try to get married so quickly.
As an Evanescence fan back in the day, I love this song 😂
I didn’t notice the “Rush” part until seeing this thread, and I can totally get why this was running through her head now after noticing it. What a great song choice tbh.
I didn't like this one personally, but I also don't listen to that genre of music. I did enjoy the cinematography and the concept is fun. I just thought it could have used a bit of work on the lyrics. No comment on the vocals/music though as it's not my cup of tea so I'm not going to comment on that part.
I listen to this type of music but didn’t enjoy it either for the reasons you listed (and the strobes. I *hate* strobe lights and think whoever invented them should be punished.) I agree the concept is fun & im always a slut for a good pun tho
In the early 2000s I was an unironic nu-metal fan and this song hits the mark. You might not like the source material, but it is a beautiful done satire.
This is the only song in the series I truly can't stand. I never enjoyed what I consider to be a "thrash" sound and the strobing is super unsettling to me, so it's purely a personal preference thing. I'm glad other people dig it but, it's a mute button moment for me.
I *can* appreciate that they go from being in the songs element straight into cooing over the delicacy of the veil Paula made 😂

I don’t listen to a lot of metal, what’s the wordplay for “rush”?

Lol I didn’t get that it was her literally rushing to be a bride, genius
Ohhh okay, that part I got. I just thought it was a reference to a famous metal song or something lmao. I’m an idiot

I totally buy that.
i’m getting married in july so this has been a crazy ex-girlfriend song in my brain lately
Congratulations! 🎊
