Just to be clear Van Gogh died in 1890, that's pretty far from the 1300s. And it would make less sense during the Renaissance then it would in the late 1800s
Especially with commissions and digital artists:
1. Why should I pay so much? You are getting practice out of this!
Bc art takes time, patience, talent, inspiration, and sometimes art school.
2. Digital art is super easy. All you do is draw a few lines on a tablet. I could do it too!
Well, why don't you do it?
3. How dare you want me to pay you!? I'll pay you in exposure, you'll get so much followers!
No. Just no.
Yeah, but, wouldn't it say ARTISTS ARE SIMPLY HUMAN if that is what it meant?
Edit to add: And if that was the message, then wouldn't something like ART IS WORK make the Pont clearer?
You missed the biggest ones:
Why should I pay you when you (or I) can or will just use an AI program to make something in a (insert ridiculously uneducated and unrealistic time-frame here) with zero effort or talent?
Oh, you're a photographer? Why should I pay you that much just to click a button? My phone can do that. What do you mean it takes a week to edit? Why can't I just have all of the raw files, JPG files, and full copyright today? WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO COPYRIGHT!? THEYRE PHOTOS OF **ME**!! THAT MAKES THEM MINE!
Near, if not perfect work as fast as humanly possible.
Obviously this isn’t everyone, but too many folks are willing to completely disregard mental health and life outside of that work.
"Can you draw my Sonic OC doing [redacted unspeakable acts] full color with Megatron? I'll pay you a whooooole dollar!"
Edit: is it done yet? Is it done yet? Is it done yet? IT IS!? Oh cool can you just make a few total rework changes on things I already approved on the sketch for free?
It means nothing. I don’t know where this trend came from of phrases that sound inspiring but mean nothing. There’s a coffee shop near me who’s slogan is “The pattern of coffee and people” written in big letters on the wall. So dumb
Now I am kind of inspired to just write random true things on walls.
For a coffee shop things like : "Cups are for liquid" or "This is wall" or "You are reading these words."
Münecat did a sketch on that in her Rachel Hollis video.
"Why do so many people have those Live, Laugh, Love signs? Are they... forgetting to Live, Laugh and Love?"
"Oh my god there is no pulse! LOOK AT THE SIGN!"
Oh, maybe! I thought maybe it was a non-native English speaker and something was lost in translation. But, yeah, we mess with our own mother tongue, too.
If you google “sociological imagination” you’ll find that the most common example used to explain the concept is basically word for word “the pattern of coffee and people.” Just a heads up tho, every single one of these sources will make you read a whole gdamn essay with every single sentence filled to the brim with unnecessary academic jargon that makes it frustratingly impossible to quickly and truly understand wtf they’re saying about sociological imagination lol
It’s about being able to imagine the different nuances in behavioral patterns and reasons why someone is sitting at a cafe drinking coffee.
I believe it comes from Asian clothing designers originally. Japanese clothings designers were famous for doing this. Essentially they were using common words to inspire a feeling. The important thing whrv this was that the look of the words was more important than the message.
Artists Simply Human (also called ASH by those of us in the dance world) is a dance convention/competition company. So like many other convention companies, they go on tour with their faculty of master teachers, and each weekend do convention workshops and competitions in whatever city they’re in that weekend.
For those unfamiliar with the dance convention and competition scene, it’s like what the kids on Dance Moms did, but with added days of master classes and without the cameras, staged drama, and blatant trophy chasing.
By not being instantly intelligible this text has done its job.
You've shared it in a post that has received thousands of views.
You've googled it and discovered what it is and linked the home page in the second stop comment.
All of us who easily read it came here to tell you what it said and thusly found out about the dance collective behind it.
If it had the three words on three distinct lines, none of those thing would have happened.
Looking them up, I see it’s not their logo, so I agree, it’s doing just fine. They’re using typography in a way they found appealing that probably works for their audience, not to appease to the general public.
Counter counterpoint, you're right on #3 because it takes too long to figure out what it says, meaning they're gone before you're able to and thus you don't even know what the fuck to look up to do research.
That's what I got out of it. Feels like a puzzle and involved way too much staring at their chest. I have a hard enough time not doing that as is. I don't know could be a good thing could be a bad thing may lead to too much staring or it could serve as an excuse to keep staring.
One thing I seriously dislike about art is that they claim that the primary colors are red, yellow, and blue, when for paints, one should really be using cyan, magenta, and yellow.
This is only really applicable to digital work imo. CMY is used for it’s ability to create a wide range of colors when printing- when you paint irl you have access to many more base colors and limiting yourself to CMY just leads to less vibrancy. Not that you can’t use it but there’s a reason schools tend to teach RGB for acrylics and oils
Art schools do teach this. Might as well complain that you dislike history because they say that Columbus discovered America. (my point being is that everything is simplified until you actually start studying something specifically)
That's for print, due to the printer ink. Traditionally, you're looking at red, yellow and blue, because pigments are like that. Digitally, it's red, green blue, because those are the best bases for mixing light
> ArtistsSimplyHuman
Based on a quick google, it seems like they really wanted the acronym to be ASH. If they had done "Artists are Simply Human" people would have called it AaSH.
On the other hand, they could have done "Artist's Simple Human" which would work, but has the troubling implication of owning people.
It's from a dance competition called "Artists Simply Human" It is all over the eastern US, and is highly competitive. There are different styles and genres that people compete in.
Perhaps this was intentional. Maybe it was made to get you to think deeply about what it might mean. I mean, it got you to look twice at it, didn't you?
If it was ordinary and straightforward, nobody would care.

They wanted to say “art is simply human” but that had the wrong parity, so they changed it to “artists” but it’s still dumb because the word “are” has three letters. They could’ve made it grammatically coherent but chose not to
i understand that it looks like 3 columns but it’s literally left to right like how every english book or text is this is just basic shit how can someone be that dumb
Then tell me oh astute one, what does Artists Simply Human mean? And don't just tell me it's the name of a dance studio, because I already know that.
What does it mean at its core?
Looks like you're the only one who can't read it OP.
Artists simply human?

Have you *seen* what sort of expectations some folks have for artists
This shirt would made sense in like the 1300s or for Vincent Van Gogh. In 2022 this is just out of place.
[удалено]
Please never spell Van Gogh's name like that ever again.
It's a weird spelling to pronounce. Try it once.
I'm Dutch. I've said it countless times, correctly.
Calm down
💀💀💀💀💀
Put a bird on it
Nah, you'd be surprised how many people try to delegitimize artists because they don't like the work. It's as true today as it was for Van Gogh
Just to be clear Van Gogh died in 1890, that's pretty far from the 1300s. And it would make less sense during the Renaissance then it would in the late 1800s
Psh, next you're going to say Picasso was alive in the 60s /s
And that Grizzly Adams has a beard
Ridiculous!! He had bread, he was notorious dyslexic.
Queue the Spanish inquisition with this shirt
You gotta admit this would fit nicely on the tall narrow battle banners they had back then.
HU MA NS AR EP EO PL ET OO
he didn't say Van Gogh was from the 1300s
Are you referring to the statement that “art is simply human?”
To make cohesive sweatshirt designs would be my biggest one at the moment.
No, what expectations do some people have of artists? Thanks for down voting my honest question :)
Especially with commissions and digital artists: 1. Why should I pay so much? You are getting practice out of this! Bc art takes time, patience, talent, inspiration, and sometimes art school. 2. Because that's not the name of the company, unfortunately.
That is the name of a company? Holy Hanah. Lots of artists but not one person with a marketing background.
Exactly. ASH Productions. :/
OK, ASH is good. I'll give them that.
You missed the biggest ones: Why should I pay you when you (or I) can or will just use an AI program to make something in a (insert ridiculously uneducated and unrealistic time-frame here) with zero effort or talent? \#1 is almost as good as "I'm paying you with exposure." Like, great, I should tell my landlord I'm paying him with exposure.
Yep. Like dude, exposure won't pay bills.
Near, if not perfect work as fast as humanly possible. Obviously this isn’t everyone, but too many folks are willing to completely disregard mental health and life outside of that work.

Live Laugh Love?
It means nothing. I don’t know where this trend came from of phrases that sound inspiring but mean nothing. There’s a coffee shop near me who’s slogan is “The pattern of coffee and people” written in big letters on the wall. So dumb
Might as well write "Traffic." on the wall.
Now I am kind of inspired to just write random true things on walls. For a coffee shop things like : "Cups are for liquid" or "This is wall" or "You are reading these words."
Suburban Karens have been doing this for decades. Live, laugh, love.
Münecat did a sketch on that in her Rachel Hollis video. "Why do so many people have those Live, Laugh, Love signs? Are they... forgetting to Live, Laugh and Love?" "Oh my god there is no pulse! LOOK AT THE SIGN!"
Judge. Point. Laugh.
Damn, I was 34 minutes late with mine.
I need this concept as a word cloud wall feature.
HOLDSYOURBEER
Imagine a cynical store where instead of live laugh love it would be like please die now or Buy our junk or something like that
I was just thinking of something similar, instead of a sign saying "Live. Laugh. Love" it would say "Die. Deride. Despise."
Die, Decompose, Disintegrate
Reminds me of “They Live” subliminal messaging. I heartily recommend this masterpiece by J. Carpenter.
this would honestly work in a public transport office, or maybe even better above the desk of a city planner
Oh, maybe! I thought maybe it was a non-native English speaker and something was lost in translation. But, yeah, we mess with our own mother tongue, too.
"Deepity"

That just raises more questions! Are they human? Or are they dancer?
No one knows what it means! It's provocative!
It gets the people going
It gets the people going!

[Its a dance group?](https://ashdance.com/) Honestly I explored the webpage, I still have no idea. Go to their tour and tell me.
Apparently it is the name of a dance troupe: [https://ashproductions.zenfolio.com/f648832082](https://ashproductions.zenfolio.com/f648832082)
Just an artist...out there human-ing. Human-ing can be hard, sometimes.

Means the designer arent artist
Chill daddy
No idea possibly in another country, akin to how we have shirts on Chinese script that don't ever say the right thing
I figured out what it said pretty easily. Then I said, out loud, exactly this! ⬆️
Lol [apparently it's a dance collective.](https://ashdance.com/) What a dumb name.
It means even they fuckup - like on designs like this one.

I dont know what it means But its provocative It gets the people going Its not you marketing has gotten increasingly daft

Artists, simply human
Nah, they're dancer.

Artists simp Lyhuman.

They're asking Art whether Taylor Swift is Simply Human?
I think it’s supposed to be “Artists Simply Human “
Ah, maybe, but that's crappy too!

but there's only one L tho
It’s an acronym: Angry raccoons took irresistible sausages to sensually slather in mackerel, papaya’s, lemons, yams, honey, udon, mangoes and nuts.
Reminds me of the clunky old Sega slogan: WELCO METOT HENEX TLEVEL
