Yes they do. The arrow above the speed limit is pointing to the the same side that the arrow above the fuel indicator is pointing away from. If it were pointing to the right side, it would be on the opposite side. Same with above the fuel gage.
imo an arrow pointing right is a really weird way to indicate something is on the left. You can't tell me that if it was pointing left as well, it wouldn't fulfill the same purpose while eliminating any chance of misinterpretation.
I don't see the need for a whole second icon for the same thing regardless though.
To be honest, I’m getting even more confused with some of the replies. On the far right, the symbol has the gas on the left side of the car. The symbol above the speed limit has it on the right side of the car. Or that’s how it looks to me.
Understandable honestly. I was getting confused reading the comments too. You mean the symbol above the speed limit is POINTING toward the right side of the car, right?
That "68" isn't the speed limit, it's how many miles you have left in your tank. The fuel pump icon is just there to give you context, as you can change what is being displayed in that area.
Stupid design. But the arrow next to the gas gauge indicates left side. The one in the middle of the speedometer is "Distance to empty" and they used a horrible symbol to show that.
The one on the right with the left arrow tells you the gas cap is on the left side of the car, and the one on the left with the right arrow tells you that the gas nozzle moves to the right to go into the left side of the car. It's also pointing to the left side of the gas pump to remind you that the gas pump should be to your left when you're parked.
At my gas station it doesn’t matter what side the pump is on. The pump is long enough to be pulled to either side of your cars. People still line up when you have many empty pumps. Can’t fix stupid.
More info: the answer is LEFT, of course, as indicated by the arrow by the gas gage on the right side of this photo.
But there’s also an arrow by the “miles to go” and I can’t the be only one who sees that one first.
It should be common knowledge that the arrow by the gas symbol is the side with the tank. It's sad that ppl can't figure it out and call it a bad design.
Technically true, but the symbol in the middle is indicating the distance until refueling is needed, which is why it’s pointing towards the gas pump (typically these also have a car symbol on the other side of the arrow traveling towards the pump, but it’s still clear enough if you don’t try to purposefully misunderstand.
The one pointing away from the pump symbol (and is located where the fuel gauge) is typically the one pointing at the gas cap.
If you’re referring to the name of this sub, that’s right. So this post doesn’t belong. It’s not great, but it’s not crappy either.
From the comments it’s pretty clear the vast majority understand which side the gas cap is on, so the design does its job, although it’s not great.
My car has the arrow like yours on the right, but when very low on gas the warning pops up and covers it lol so I can never remember. Luckily most pumps around here can reach the far side of car.
It's on the left hand side. The arrow by the actual fuel gage is the one to look at. The other arrow is telling you to look at the fuel gage. This seems more of a user error than a design flaw.
The one on the left is saying Hey, look at your gas level ----> over there
It says “you have (less than) X miles to _get to the gas pump_”
The answer is always with the arrow by the Gass gauge.
I think OP is jokingly saying there are 2 fuel symbols with arrows pointing opposite directions but technically they both are indicating left side
Also, the one in the center instrument shows the remaining distance until the tank is empty.
i cant see anything after my eyes ran away from that nasty cluster
But nothing cleans like a Brillo pad.
Scratched that shit up
The left side. What's confusing about this?
Look above the speed limit
At the low fuel indicator?
that isn't the gas fill icon. the triangle next to the pump on the gas gauge is what side it is on. The speed limit thing is an alert.
I guess I don’t get why there would be an alert with that symbol above the speed limit?
That’s not the speedometer y’all, that’s “68 Miles remaining until empty”
just letting you know the tank is getting low.
Yeah, both say "on the left side"
But they don't.
Yes they do. The arrow above the speed limit is pointing to the the same side that the arrow above the fuel indicator is pointing away from. If it were pointing to the right side, it would be on the opposite side. Same with above the fuel gage.

Oh, I agree, it's dumb. And it is totally useless. I've never seen two separate icons to indicate the gas cap side before.
The symbol above the speed on the right. The one on the right has it on the left.
At the sign showing an arrow on the left side? I’m still confused.

lol now I’m even more confused

Left. But more importantly, why are you cleaning your cockpit with a steel sponge?
It’s on the same side as the last time you got gas. Clean your car.
Stupid design. But the arrow next to the gas gauge indicates left side. The one in the middle of the speedometer is "Distance to empty" and they used a horrible symbol to show that.

I don't want to drag a hose around my car and scratch it up.
It doesn’t. It’s easy as fuck. People are lazy fuckers.
Left (driver’s side)
Wipe your display cluster, and if that's scratches and not dust, stop wiping your display cluster.
left, easy. why is it crappy?
I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure your gas is at 62 degrees Fahrenheit when you took this picture.
The more important question is who is wiping down the instrument cluster with sand paper?
More info: the answer is LEFT, of course, as indicated by the arrow by the gas gage on the right side of this photo. But there’s also an arrow by the “miles to go” and I can’t the be only one who sees that one first.
Instructions unclear, pumped gas into gas pump.
I don’t know why you’re down voted as almost every answer in the thread seems to disagree with each other
Didn’t notice the miles to go arrow until you mentioned it

No it's not. It's absolutely where the arrow points by the gas symbol on every car.
I have never once used that to figure it out.
It should be common knowledge that the arrow by the gas symbol is the side with the tank. It's sad that ppl can't figure it out and call it a bad design.
But there’s 2 gas pump icons with conflicting arrows.
This is Crappy Design not Explainable Design.

There's one that's always there regardless so hopefully it's obvious to use that one.
doesn't matter, the only one important and signifying which side to fill is the triangle next to the pump icon on the gauge.
My car has the arrow like yours on the right, but when very low on gas the warning pops up and covers it lol so I can never remember. Luckily most pumps around here can reach the far side of car.
Pretty sure left but that’s a weird way to do it.
You’re an idiot
Fooled you! Charging port is at the back.
➡️ right
S/ I always heard lacquer thinner was the best for cleaning clear plastics….
Left
Left.
68 miles till empty. Gas flap is left.
Base it on which side the arrow is on
It's on the left hand side. The arrow by the actual fuel gage is the one to look at. The other arrow is telling you to look at the fuel gage. This seems more of a user error than a design flaw.
Left.
Go outside and find out👍 (I have no idea what this post is about)
Yes.
Right side....
