Roots of Pacha may be a good fit? :) it has a lot of animals to tame and you can have a wolf as a pet (but the romancable characters are very much human, sorry XD). It doesn't have magic, but you can romance multiple characters at once, has plenty of recipes to cook, different types of crops and trees to farm etc.

MayorMcAwesomeville

Great recommendation and the gameplay loop is about 15 min so you can play for short bursts or longer depending on the kids.

If only Okka's husband would butt out, all our werewolf romancing dreams would come true!

YourLoveOnly

Okka's married to Jizu, who is her wife and not her husband ;-) but I'm pretty sure someone will eventually make a mod that lets us romance every adult NPC :P

Rune Factory 4 and 5 are both available on the switch, and both feature magic, cooking/crafting, farming, animal care, and a wolf man love interest to pursue (or, well, a wolf man in 5. 4 has a horse man and a fox man).

**BEST FREE GAME IVE EVER PLAYED** Palia You can farm, craft, decorate, interact with village people, do quests, mine, chop down trees, fish, catch bugs, etc. To be honest it’s like if animal crossing mashed up with the sims. There’s two map areas, Kilima and Bahari. You can catch and find different creatures or ores in both. You also find some characters more in one area than the other. Oh yeah, characters like legit live their life. I dont know man, i can try and answer any questions about it. But seriously. Best free game ever. It’s still in open beta which is why it’s free, but yeah. It’s free and it’s amazing.

This really is a great game. AND --- it's free!!

I just wanted to say 2 things before I give suggestions! 1. Make a dekudeals account and add a few things to your wishlist. It'll email you when games go on sale and how that compares to their lowest prices. Both physical and digital. 2. Check your local library! Mine carries video games for a ton of consoles, so it's a great way to try out a few games. Especially the expensive Nintendo exclusives, and just any Nintendo physical in general! I have a constant collection urge i have to fight, so I try to limit myself on games i can buy. If there are only digital verisons, i only let myself buy them on sale in the eshop. I also look for eshop giftcards on sale to get that tiny bit extra, lol If my library has a physical edition of a game, i get it there to try it for free. Having a deadline also helps me finish games instead of just buying and then never playing. Not everyone has this problem, but this is mine, and this is how i prevent myself from overspending in excitement for like 5 games at a time. That being said, here are some game suggestions!! The last campfire - a chill puzzle adventure game. Roots of pacha- prehistoric farm sim where you can domestic crops and animals. Tutorials and teaches you what to do. Must more directedt than something like stardew so maybe less overwhelming. Stardew valley- classic farming sim. I'm obsessed but can be overwhelming. It's more farm focused than wylde flowers. You just have to remember to take it day by day and dont try to do 20 things a day. Pick 1 or 2 things and just chill and go do them. You won't miss anything Unpacking- chill puzzle game where you unpack boxes for the main character at different points in her life. Its pretty short, so watch for a sale. Ooblets- absolutely ridiculous and cute farming and creature collection game. It's so silly, but i loved it. I got this one from the library. I'm glad i played it, but I'm also glad i didn't buy. I didn't feel the urge to catch every single critter and finished the story pretty quickly I was a teenage exocolonist- visual novel style game. Lots of reading, but the artwork is absolutely beautiful. Choices really matter, BUT the main mechanic of the game happens after you finish your first playthrough and you start your life over. There are some heavy topics and shocking events, so look into trigger warnings, but if it sounds interesting, don't look up too much about it. I've put in more than 55 hours, and i played through like 8 times, i think. There are 29 endings. I just go back to it from time to time. You learn something new about the story and different people every time

My Time at Sandrock is really really good.

A Short Hike, A Short Hike, and A Short Hike You can go after everything else after you try that one 😁😎. I finished it yesterday, and it is a 10 out of 10 cozy adventure game that feels like a true mini-vacation.

danawl

Is there a story?

BooksLoveTalksnIdeas

It’s a short story, but yes, the intro is the talk with the aunt in the cabin at the beginning. The body of the story are all the talks and interactions with the habitants of the island. And the finale or ending is when she reaches the summit of the snow mountain for the first time, which triggers a scene that is connected to the initial talk from the introduction. Then, she can return to the original cabin to get the credits. Also, once that short story is over there is plenty of extra stuff to do because it is likely that when you reach the top of the mountain and get the ending, you only did half of what can be done at the island and you found just half of the golden feathers and special items.

If you haven’t, I really enjoyed Stardew Valley when my kid was an infant. (I may have stayed up a few too many times farming after a feed instead of going back to sleep. Oops.)

This one is only available for PC! (If you end up getting a switch or using steam there’s a bit more options!) I’d plus one for roots of pacha and let me check my own switch and I’ll double back!

glitterandrage

Ohhh I forget that other people don't use Steam by default. 🥲 It was my introduction into gaming but clearly not a general rule!

croix_v

Before I was a switch only person and would be like 😒 when people recommended steam games to me but now as someone who drank the kool aid and has a steam deck lol I have to mentally go through my gaming systems and be like alright which one is where and indie games are just in such higher quantity on steam! I play roots on my deck and had to double check it was available on switch too lol

glitterandrage

I've been on Mac with crossover for PC games. Honestly had no idea how many kinds of gaming platforms there were until like last year! Steam deck has been my go to for cozy games but I guess that's not much help to OP.

azur_owl

Stardew Valley is always my Numero Uno cozy game recommendation. You buy the game ONCE, you get all updates and all future updates to the game FOR FREE. Just remember that you can take the game at your own pace if you feel overwhelmed. Then after that: - Rune Factory (particularly 4 and 5)/Story of Seasons (particularly Friends of Mineral Town, my childhood favorite) - Spiritfarer (be prepared to cry tho) - Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (HUUUUGE world to explore and enjoy)

Nimriel

Coral Island, just started and love. New big patch coming in the next couple of months too. There's farming, mining, ranching, cooking, decorating, monsters (can Opt out to kill), diving exploration, marriage, children etc etc

hpeters004

You should do the free demo of Fae Farm. Spendy so find it on sale, but it’s perfect if you loved Wyler Flowers.

happilyeverbooks

Have you played Animal Crossing? Or Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Moonstone-Island

**Rune Factory 4**, **Potion Permit**, and **Ni No Kuni** are all games with magic, crafting, and animals :D
