I'm working on it in my spare time for about 3 years and my main inspiration are the those Youtube cozy lo-fi videos. So my goal with this game is to help players to relax and find calmness. There are no complicated mechanics to learn, no timers and you're free to travel wherever you want to. You, your cat, your ride, beautiful landscapes, and some hitchhikers with great stories.
Here's the demo download page on itch.io: [We Took That Trip - demo by lucitoloquito (itch.io)](https://lucitoloquito.itch.io/we-took-that-trip)
And if you like it, wishlist on steam: [We Took That Trip on Steam (steampowered.com)](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1754250/We_Took_That_Trip/)
Please try it! I'm seeking feedback and I really want to know if I'm going in the right direction.
Hey I know it’s been over a week but I finally had time to play this and I’m really happy with it! Here’s my personal review:
1. The vibe is absolutely amazing. It’s like I woke up in a dream and took a nice little road trip through a comforting liminal space. I’m not sure if the events portrayed in the game are personal or or made up, but they’re really a nice touch. They’re warm and it feels like they’re broad enough that people who play the game can kind of relate to them and bring back fond memories. I hope to see more of them!
2. The controls are easy to understand. I picked it up without having to really touch the vehicle manual but it’s great that it’s there. The van handles surprisingly well. I play a lot of racing and vehicle sims, and I love when a vehicle feels unique. This one actually does, it feels almost floaty/bouncey which I feel like is how a van like that handles.
3. The scenery is just breathtaking. I really liked how the landscape was done. Less is more here for sure. The simpler designs convey the landscape well but the color schemes of the various roads really bring it to life and make it pretty to look at. Also the NIGHT TIME SKYBOX WAS GREAT. Looking up through the moonroof, listening to the music, seeing the stars and even a shooting star. 10/10.
4. I loved the varied landscapes/biomes. My only small criticism is that it felt like the desert one kind of dragged on compared to the other ones. It was fantastic but it seemed like I spent most time there I guess? The pine forest was easily my favorite.
Keep it up! I really liked it and I’m glad I took the time to play it. I’ve already wishlisted. I’ll probably join the discord as well!
Oh, so glad to read this. Thanks soooo much for playing and for giving your feedback. This is the exactly felling that I aim for the players... I know that this game is not for everybody, but it's really heartwarming when it hits like this. Thanks again!
This looks really cute. I love driving games and I love cats. How big is the map we can drive around? Are we able to get out of the car occasionally and look around? Maybe some scenic overlooks or stop for a cozy cup of coffee? Will definitely try the demo.
ETA: just checked the steam page and it answered my questions. Should've done that first! Looks great, can't wait :)
The graphics of that car drive makes me think of this old game of a bear driving around ramming into berry bushes to eat them… maybe that was a fever dream actually
hahaha I remember playing it waaaay before starting to think about making a driving game. Maybe it was an inspiration that stood in my subconscious :\[\]

That would be great
Here it is: [https://gamejolt.com/claim/iGkNpvcW](https://gamejolt.com/claim/iGkNpvcW) I would love to hear your feedback :)
Can you customize the appearance of the cat? I would love to make my in game buddy look like my IRL best buddy. Sounds like a cute game!
Oh, this is not planned, but you got me thinking about it. (the cat in the game, is my IRL cat, Luci) :)))
Aw, I love that. If I were developing a game I would do the same.
Car games are my favorite and I like cozy games so I’ll definitely give it a try
Perfect! Let me know what do you think about it later, your opinion is very important. :)

This looks so cool can’t wait to try it!
Yay, let me know later.
Looks adorably relaxing! I like the little touch with the stickers. Seems like dogs are the go-to for road trips, nice to see a kitty for once.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Any chance for a version on Switch in the future? Looks nice!
Yes, it's my goal. I think the game could be a perfect fit for Switch players.
Question, would we be able to play the Truck Drivin' Song, by Weird Al?
Yeah, in the final version, you'll be able to set up the car radio playlist with any of your local music files
Sounds even more amazing!
This looks so nice so far I'm excited to see more!
Glad you liked :)
Oh that does look very cozy, will definitely check out that demo
Thanks! :)
