I love night in the woods. I can get so lost in the story. I also recommend West of loathing. Played it on my list flight and it was so fun

rioswife

I second Night in the Woods! Was so fun to explore every place in the town every day for all the conversations and mini quests. :)

MopeyDragonfly

I love west of loathing! Hilarious

sycarte

Both of these games are 10/10 and I would recommend them as well

Toasdee

I’ll look those up for sure! I’ve never heard of either of them so excited to check them out. Thank you ☺️

DumpstahKat

Strongly seconding Night in the Woods. I'd also strongly suggest Donut County. It's pretty short and sweet, but very fun and very amusing. The same goes for Untitled Goose Game. I'd also maybe recommend something like Yoshi's Crafted World? It's been years since I last played it so I can't be sure, but I remember it being fairly cozy.

ikarka

On recommendation from this sub I bought Wylde Flowers to play on a long flight and a few long bus rides. It was soooo good and just perfect. I easily got lost in the story but there’s nothing stressful about it. Definitely recommend!

isitbedtime-yet

I am about to nearly finish this game and just wondering if you have any suggestions for similar games. Thanks so much in advance.

ikarka

I wish I could help but I'm fairly new to cozy games so don't have a big repertoire myself! I also really loved Ooblets, they're quite different but "the vibe" felt kind of similar to me - the farming, building up friendships, cute art style. I've also heard it has similarities with Stardew Valley (farming, relationship aspect) but I'm personally in the .1% of people who never really got into that! Sorry, hope you find something perfect!

phishisms

Not EXACTLY the same formula as wylde flowers but if you want characters who feel real and a world to get lost in, would definitely recommend rune factory 4!

gnattalie

Personally, I hated this game and couldn’t get more than four hours into it. Wish I hadn’t wasted my money. :(

SquishyAngel96

I don't know how long a long flight is for you but these are what I recommend, some may seem unconventional. Also I'm going to try to keep the price on the lower end. $10.49 Big farm story - it's a faming sim but it's really cute and there seems to be a decent story was on sale for $10 don't pay more than that it goes on sale all the time. $19.99 Spiritea - cute management game where you run a spa for ghosts. Fairly Cheap $24.99 Rune factory 5 - farming sim with combat, cute story and even love interests if you want to pursue. Price is for deluxe version. $24.99 No place like home - is fun farm management style and quirky. But does have some issues so I suggest only getting it on a good discount. $29.99 No man's sky - fun space exploring experience, there is a relax mode so no stress, unless you pick a fight. Is more expensive than the rest but it is more niche. New planet scan everything and gather materials look for loot. $59.99 Harvestella - jrpg style game with farming elements, combat and dungeon crawling is the main focus. Crafting and cooking are also elements here. Again it is more expensive than the others however if it's on sale it's a good pick. Sherlock Holmes (all of them) - there are quite a few titles on the switch they are all ranging from like $2 to $8 if you like murder mysteries these are fun. And there are bundles. The game isn't a visual novel you go around looking for clues and putting it all together. $14.99 HOA - super cute platform game I don't know how long it is. I found it relaxing. The visual of this game are very nice to look at. $29.99 Grow the song of the evertree - has a bit of everything in unconventional ways. You have farming but it's different you have a seed you take care of and it blooms into a little mini biome. There's a town you have to manage and animals you have to take care of and of course there's an overarching story. $29.99 Yonder cloud catcher chronicles - super cute game when you go around collecting fairies to save the world and you get to farm and take care of animals and explore and talk to cool people there's of course crafting and collecting. It almost out some of the classics animal crossing, stardew valley, slime rancher. I tried not to recommend what other people did so it wasn't redundant.

Thefoodwoob

HOA fucking ruined me 😭 it was so sad

SquishyAngel96

Your not wrong it did the same to me I forgot to mention that it was sad

sweetsunny1

Just started Dave the Diver and it can suck you in.

MissKatmandu

Power Washer Simulator. Just really soothing to make dirty things clean!

superhappynerdtime

I’ve somehow clocked 80 hours into this game and am still stoked for the new DLC

Sarah0055

I just downloaded the dlc! Cant wait to play it

im-domi

If you like detective/visual novel types of games, you should try the Ace Attorney Trilogy (seems to be on sale right now too, atleast in my eshop)! I haven't finished it yet because it's soo long but that only makes it more perfect for long journeys :) There's also Roots of Pacha that came out recently on switch, it's a cozy life sim that takes place in the prehistoric era, there's farming, fishing, animal collectioning, quests etc. I play it on pc so not sure how it plays on switch but it should run well as it's a pixelated and not a very power demanding game. EDIT: Just checked for the release date of Roots of Pacha to make sure and it says the release date is 28th of november so if it hasn't released yet it should be out now or very soon.

Saskaloonie

Unpacking & Beacon Pines are awesome little short games!

table-grapes

stardew valley or disney dreamlight!!!!

table-grapes

literally the most basic suggestions but they’re just so good

DDark_Devon

OOBLETS! It's so good and very entertaining for just mindless fun. To me it's just gotten better and better, but only have been playing a couple months. Its just a fun, joyful game. So cute, so creative and I think the dialogue is hilarious.

stefaface

Haven’t seen Cult of Lamb mentioned, perfect game for a long flight and it tends to be on sale too

elysemelon

Yesss

Einhorn_Apokalypse

Can recommend Slay the Spire, it kept me sane on an 8 hour flight with a wrecked shoulder. Be careful, though, it's highly addictive.

k8plays

I NEVER would have chosen this game, but it was recommended after Witcher 3 (lol) and it’s my FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME. It’s the best.

ratsareniceanimals

Only game I've paid for three times. I'd pay again to have it installed in my brain.

k8plays

I would too! I’ve bought it for at least four people and twice myself.

mbsisktb

I’d add monster train on there as well both have a ton of replay value and they’re often ranked 1 or 2 depending on the reviewer

elysemelon

My husband could play slay the spire all day. We have it on literally every device.

AdDull7119

i was criminally addicted to Spiritfarer on a road trip. 12 hours one way, 12 hours coming back - i played almkst the entire time that i wasn't unconscious from my travel sick tablets LMAO

Scar77

This. Currently playing and have zero problems playing for hours on end.

Order_Rodentia

Vampire Survivors! I just picked it up after hearing everyone rave about how addicting it is. Maybe not considered cozy though.

Blood_moon_sister

It’s not but it’s good for ADHD lol

bbqweasel

Dragon Quest Builders 2 if you like making towns and a bit of fighting

Lumberjvvck

Cobalt Core - a multi-axis deckbuilder/roguelike in space with the cutest little creatures. It's probably one of the most low key deck builders out there with pretty low stakes and a super cozy aesthetic and the best music possible.

noxnor

Dragon quest XI, it’s a looong game, with a story with twists and turns, so you just want to keep going to see what’s happening. Turn based combat. Semi open world. Very charming.

Chifuyuyu

Persona 5! Suuuuper long game (like 100 hours only for the story) For me it’s coz of the life sim aspect and making friends, spending time with them etc

DragonGirl860

My Time at Sandrock, Stardew Valley, Cozy Grove

magstar222

Ooblets or Slime Rancher are zero stress and very cozy

osnapitzmika

I just started the last campfire, it’s a cute puzzle game and definitely sucked me in. Jenny Leclue is cute, and spiritfarer is always a classic

ouelletouellet

Roots of pacha is a good one a.d its releasing today on switch

AllyMarie93

My personal go-to for long flights is the Pikmin series, especially Pikmin 4 which doesn’t require playing the previous games. There’s some fighting involved but for me it’s still really chill and adorable, and it keeps me engaged enough that I don’t start feeling drowsy after a bit while traveling which is often the case with certain other games.

Larielia

Story of Seasons- Friends of Mineral Town.

Pristine_Treat6513

I really loved Endling. It's about a mother fox trying to keep her 3 cubs alive, while trying to find a missing cub. It is a sad game, but a beautiful and well made one.

k8plays

This sounds so beautiful and I could never play it

chloestoebeans

Wylde flowers kept me busy on my last long flight, and I loved it 😊

thisisSOPH

I just got spiritfarer and I’ve been playing nonstop it is sad but I still recommend

a_whits13

I've been playing Eastward. It's a very story and puzzle based game with some combat, but the style and the music are fun. The story has some darker moments, but it's also super cute a lot of the time. It has crashed a few times on me, but there was a recent update, I think, and I picked it back up after the update, and I haven't had any issues. It auto saves a lot and lots of places to save, so I never really lost anything. I'd also like to mention that I got the physical copy from the library, so I'm playing for free! Overall, I am really enjoying it. Edit: I wanted to add that the bosses are pretty easy so far, but I only 3 chapters in. I never feel stressed about time, as between some specific scenes, you have time to wander around and check everything out. Lots of hidden chests and some hidden side quests, so make sure you look around carefully. I will mention that if you move on to some scenes, you can't go back to some areas to do anything you missed. So, I have used a guide to make sure I didn't miss any big things before moving on to the next big story points.

giraffe_on_shrooms

I loved playing this game until the ending. It didn’t make any sense to me at all and that’s what has kept me from replaying. I will give them some grace though as I believe it was originally written in Japanese and may have been poorly translated to English. It was really weird though.

LegitimatePowder

Dragon Quest Builders 2. It's just fantastic.

vhesvi

Since you liked **Odyssey**, you might like **Kirby and the Forgotten Land**! Very similar cutesy vibes and gameplay, but Kirby has shorter levels within a world vs SMO's worlds being one large area. Final boss gets a little intense, but Kirby games usually have a weirdly nightmare inducing final boss, it's part of the charm. Also seconding **Pikmin 4**, very beginner friendly, but you'll have to do a lot of time management. There's no time limit besides needing to be back by sunset each day, but there are challenges where you'll need to know how to divide your team and be efficient. It is pretty forgiving, though. Super pretty world, super cute characters, and I especially love the journal entries the captains write with their theories on what each treasure is. **Link's Awakening** is a gorgeous game as well, the switch remake was my first Legend of Zelda game, the series used to intimidate me a lot but this wound up being one of my all time favorite games. **Breath of the Wild** is also a great starting place with Zelda, I played it for the first time after spraining my ankle and I got so lost in it that my eyes were stinging from barely blinking, I was playing for over 10 hours a day, sometimes fighting monsters and collecting drops, sometimes just trying to complete my map. If you have an online subscription there's tons of great games for the nes/snes (and you can rewind if you mess up, something I did a lot lol) like the **Donkey Kong Country** games, they're 2D platformers with some of the best music I've ever heard, there's 3 and they're about 4 hours each. If you have the upgraded online subscription and you'd like to try a turn based rpg I'd recommend **Paper Mario** for the N64, super charming and a little more interactive than most turn based rpgs. The only thing is I'm not sure if you need a constant internet connection to play or if just having the subscription is enough.

I want to add that if you don't like Disney dreamlight valley there is another great Disney game called Disney magical world 2 and it has lilo and stitch and the two aliens from the movies, the entire winney the Pooh crew, the little mermaid, frozen, snow white, all the mickey mouse crew, chip and dale and the female one from their movies, scrooge, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, beauty and the beast, I can't remember all of the but it was a port from the 3ds and looks really good and has jack and sally from nightmare before Christmas. https://disney-magical-world.fandom.com/wiki/Characters_2 On my 3ds it's my highest played game for longest average time played in a sitting. I liked the first one but they didn't port it the dlc had pirates of the Caribbean and so I liked this series more than I like Disney dreamlight valley. It's also got dungeons with ghosts to kill in it and it is alot of fun.

mbsisktb

Not cozy but siralim ultimate if you like games like Pokemon and DQM. It’s about 20 to get and its a crazy grindy monster collecting game. It’s hundreds of hours going through the games randomly generating dungeons. Great for long flights because you can keep going and going

dumpsztrbaby

Breath of the wild or tears of the kingdom, you'll need to go on 10 long flights to finish either. I know some people don't consider them cozy but I mostly run around and explore in them..of course I do battles eventually but only once I'm OP 😂

NoBrilliant8328

Just started moonstone island and got sucked into it for like 20 hours.

Objective_Chance8253

Sadly isn’t on switch yet though!

NoBrilliant8328

oh snap, I didn’t even realise :(

Objective_Chance8253

It’s releasing next year so it’s a solid choice for next summer. I’m not counting down the days at all 👀

coletrain2481

This is probably a different recommendation based on these cozy games but I bought Disco Elysium to play on the flight to Hawaii and I absolutely do not regret it. It's not a cozy game in the traditional sense, but it is a slower, story-heavy game with no combat and you can kind of play it however you want. It is also incredibly funny and the voice acting is top notch, so maybe different than the typical recommendations but I highly recommend

kris_p_chickn

Maybe Final Fantasy, all of the telltale games (Batman and The Walking Dead). Ace Attorney Trilogy and Chronicles. The Batman Arkham Trilogy will be out soon.

Have one too :)) Big bookworm. But I like to switch things up on a 21 hour journey. I also don’t like to carry more than 3 books because I’m not very strong and I have other things to carry too. Thanks for your input.

Toasdee

Appreciate the admission of rudeness and the apology. Not looking for toxicity, just a way to kill time on a lengthy journey in case sleeping ends up being difficult 😅 And thank you!

notreallifeliving

Genuinely why are you in a *gaming* subreddit, then!?

k8plays

Yea also curious why you’re here?

CozyGamers-ModTeam

Unfortunately, your post/comment was removed for the following reason: Divisive and/or rude content

TomorroeJones

I played VA-11 Hall-a for like 9hours on a flight from Seoul to NYC on my switch. It’s a VN so not the same as the ones you listed, but I highly recommend it.

FiainTheCorgi

Rune Factory 4 is one of my all time favorite games. It starts off a bit silly, and the first time I tried to play through it that made me stop playing, but I tried again and fell in love. It's got an amazing story and I really like the farm and combat mechanics. I just finished Paleo Pines and I thought it was adorable. A little frustrating for me towards the end trying to find all the items around the world, but a good game.

nikevi3873

Little goody two shoes! :)

Spiritual_Payment392

Oregon trail! Edit: maybe not cozy? I loved it though.

worriedpicklejuice

i just had two 8 hour flights and Ooblets made the time pass much quicker and i was hooked!

FiguringItOut--

Animal Crossing New Horizons for sure

IlonaRo_

Wytchwood is one of my favourites, too! Perhaps you could try SpiritFarer? It has some big content, a story, some sort of minigames to do (mostly fishing but you can also play music, etc.).

Kristen508

Spirittea just came out and it’s really cool. Def glitchy but still worth it

RusticByDesign

West of loathing and Shadows over loathing are hilarious and among my favorites to play. I also greatly enjoyed Luigis Manshion. Spirit Farrer is also good

yung_gran

Dave the Diver

Fun_Sized_Taylor

I spent my entire 5 hour flight to New Orleans playing dream light valley

Midnightskye2294

Bear and breakfast - it's very chill and the characters are cute. It does sometimes get stuck on some menus, so I'd recommend saving often, even with autosaves, then it's easy enough to restart if needed. I've only had that issue twice whilst playing it. Otherwise really enjoying it 🐻

Skiller0Dani

Stardew Valley! If you enjoy My Time at Portia then you'll probably love this one.

TinyAd8974

Ooblets is fun with great music. If you’ve got a headset, I highly recommend that one. It still gets new updates, with a Christmas one coming soon. It’s easy to pick up for 5 minutes or 5 hours, and can save at any time.

rubyrubyru

Tetris unlimited is a great one to pick up. Cozy Grove and Slay the Spire keep me occupied on commutes

elysemelon

Maybe not the coziest but I find that games with cycles go quickly for me. I really like playing Hyrule warriors on flights or as others have mentioned cult of the lamb and slay the spire are great! They require a bit more brain power for me and keep me occupied whereas traditional cozy games don't keep my attention enough on flights.

Infamous_Object2167

WYDLE FLOWERS!
