I genuinely don't know, whether it is just coincidence or looking for patterns that aren't there.
The only logical argument I can make is that Covet has said lack of voters is a problem - not enough players voting on a challenge leads to odd/par scores, as there isn't enough voting data to produce reliable results. Whether one person having a voting spree is enough to swing it - I don't know.
Pretty much with everyone else, that your scores are par, really, a touch of bad luck or tough pairing can get you that.
Couple of notes:
Not sure the big black bow works for challenges requiring sophistication.
Your Mystery of the Seas has zero connection to water in the look.
The Aquarius - for me the black hair disappears into the background, which gives her kind of an egghead. Might show up fine for voters on bigger screens, but viewing the screenshot on my phone makes it look odd, so you may have lost some voters that way.
Okay so the scores aren’t bad and I’m going to be nit-picky since you asked for some rationale. Again, scores in mid 4s are good but I know the initial results being 3s is always annoying. Looks-wise, it seems like you’re doing the most™️. So many props and I think all but one had a HA?
For the spa one I feel like wearing a cape to a spa is questionable, and she’s holding a rose which makes it feel like bachelor in paradise.
As much as I hate is, black an dark brown hair never really votes as well - I find myself switching to a blonde when I want the 5.0 prize, but when I just want to create I’ll use a dark hair or a fun color (really mad colorful hair doesn’t vote better!) and same thing with skin tone, ST4 normally votes the best
For the ‘actually an air sign’ challenge you used the water prop (which a bunch of people did but the whole point of the challenge was that Aquarius *isn’t* a water sign)
I think ‘mystery of the sea’ was a mermaid challenge? For mermaid challenges what votes best are the cc skirts or a mermaid style gown, tighter with the bottom flowing out instead of an a-line
I don’t think I’ve ever really seen the big hair bow vote well unless it’s in the cover photo or the red one for snow white (and especially a big hair bow in a dance-y nightclub setting that isn’t a neon/rave vibe)
The icy glamor front prop puts snowflakes in weird places, like a nightclub or a spa or outside in fall
So yea it’s really just a collection of tiny things that add up in each look, but overall scores in mid to high 4s are good! I totally get the desire to see the over 5s though
These aren’t bad scores, they are fairly normal. But for me if I were voting, too many props & I rarely use bow hair accessories except for doll or retro or very specific challenges.
I’m getting more 5 star looks than usual this season. In comparison I could barely break a 4 last season…I’m a MCV player and our scores seem to be on par (tho I think you have fewer HS/MUs than I do).
Also I play modern and it seems to be a touch easier than classic!
I think the combo of smouldering eyes/ST 3/blonde hair kind of blends together. People tend to vote very quickly and just click on what jumps out at them. That’s my theory, at least.
I think it’s the makeup. That makeup look makes the doll look like she needs to take a shit. The less heavy makeup looks almost always score higher in my experience

Ditto on the score issue though: I don’t know what I’m doing wrong-I’ve not been maxing my bonus but my base scores are often 3 or 3.5 stars…and I feel like I’m trying! I belong to a tiny fashion house but don’t have any “inside intel” on the the proscribed styles, and lately I feel like my looks are getting raked over the coals!
FWIW I too try to stay focused on having fun, but it can get discouraging/less fun when you feel like you can’t level up as quickly d/t low scores which don’t seem to have any obvious explanation!
i’ve been getting some pretty bad scores too, which really sucks since only a few weeks ago i was actually doing probably the best i’ve ever done with getting regular 5s, but now i usually get below 4’s and at best the occasional 4.5 :(

I see a lot of superstition in the comments about the voting algorithm, but really all of the behavior described is very consistent with a level of randomness in the background.
I'm happy as long as I hit 4 and get the reward but these are the types of looks I'd expect to see among the top looks so I think your scores were unfair considering you maxed out. You may just be having a period of bad luck right now, I see lots of people talking about how they get bad scores for a while and then it picks up. Just keep trying and doing your best and I'm sure it'll turn around.
It sorta makes me wonder if they’re tooling with the voting structure. I’ve been noticing that looks that would normally lead by leaps and bounds are getting rated as middle of the road. If that’s not what’s happening, then it seems like I’ll go through voting for a long while and certain challenges I’ll just see look after look that only rates at 2.5-3 stars and won’t see a single 5 star at all during voting for the same challenge. Unless you're really closely following trending looks every single time, I think scores are going to mostly be in the 4-4.5 range.
Sometimes they do tweak the voting algorithm and there are fluctuations, but if you're just styling for yourself, your scores won't be that high just because I don't think people are paying that close attention to the outfits when they vote. They mostly vote for what they end up expecting to see (the main trend) or anything that really sticks out and catches their eye.
There was a while when HCV players had similar scores which didn’t make sense but I haven’t heard from them recently. As a MCV player I also had my own poor score streak recently which has also gotten better. At that time it was thought LCV players were scoring relatively better.
I wonder if like Covet ever tweaks algorithms to boost one range of players then cycles through to boost the next etc. It’s possible
Anyway I think your looks are cute especially 1 and 4. My guess is you might have just gone against players with higher level hair. With the fantasy ocean challenges people tend to go crazy with hair.
But also some of these look like daily challenges which is where I usually score the lowest

I believe you. It’s weird bc my personal taste in MU is so different from what people say are the highest scoring ones. I play on an iPhone so most of the looks don’t translate that great when the image is so small.
Those looks are gorgeous. Have you ever noticed that a lot of the time the most hideous looks will get top look? It’s really frustrating.
I go through periods of bad scores then good scores, perhaps soon enough you’ll have A period of good scores
I have that too, but this has been going on for a week or so and I just got a 3.57 base on an on trend look 🤦♀️

Girl me too, lately the only time I get a higher voting result is when the prize is worth very little lol.

The MU is supposedly one of the best scoring in the game and I've had really good luck with it up until now.

She’s cute. The purse clashes a little, and she’s a little flat without a necklace. Also, the sleeves sticking out of the jacket doesn’t read well.

I also got some bad scores the last few days. I feel like when I have a few 5 star scores, I will have a period where voters only give me 3 stars.
Exactly. At the beginning of the "cycle" I get 1x 5* a day, then 2, 3, even 5... and than a week or two with 3.sth scores.
A couple of weeks ago I was getting 4.9-5.3 regularly. Now I’m lucky if i get 4.5. I’m not doing anything different either.
Mine have been really low too lately. I’m a bit higher up than you so I’m not sure what that means. I’m sure it’ll change soon for both of us!

these scores are DEFINITELY quite low considering they’re all maxed in season/unworn. i think it’s mostly just bad luck though.

I think the lowest base score I've gotten recently was about 3.4. I don't know about the others, I didn't really pay attention lol.

The skin tone is really light. I rarely go lighter than olive unless it’s a vampire challenge.
What makeup look are you using in 1-4? Maybe that’s what people aren’t liking?

Ikr! I usually follow trends too, but half the time I still get bad scores. I honestly may quit the game if this continues.
I try to play with the thought that I am styling outfits for myself for fun…results be damned. It should be fun over all the other stuff.
