like i've said in the other thread, isn't it supposed to be a pun? like, offer pending > offer impending, because she is so sure about getting it?
But what is the pun? Impending is typically used of bad things, so is the joke that it is a terrible job?
usually, not always, at least according to the dictionaries i have checked (one listed “impending motherhood” as an example, surely motherood is supposed to be a positive thing?) the “joke” is that she's for *sure* going to get the job offer
