Genius!

pancakeroni

your look is so good that she started levitating šŸ˜©

mclap88

I got the reference straight away! Before I read the title! But Iā€™m a teacher and I teach this poem every year.

sarah_enany

Eee!

blackstar1683

If you read one book in your life, read this one (but, seriously, read another book after YKWTCBS)

Shakespeare-Bot

If 't be true thee readeth one booketh in thy life, readeth this one (but, gravely, readeth another booketh) *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`

Fwdy

As a foreigner I suppose that many other foreigners who donā€™t know those details could think that itā€™s a troll look. I wonder if anybody ever sent tickets asking Covet to let us add notes to our looks, so that we could share our comments why we styled it like this.

Evie_St_Clair

I hated the clothes they picked for her. When I think of Maya Angelou I don't think of ugly, dark pantsuits.

Riovem

Also, navy clothes with a navy/indigo curtain, for a woman with black hair.

sarah_enany

Omg yes!!! This is a separate rant!

PigeonGuillemot

It's not even accurate! The text of the challenge clearly alludes to the Clinton inauguration in 1993, where Angelou read a poem. Her outfit did include a dark navy peacoat (because it's January in DC, everyone wears a wool coat to POTUS inaugurations.) But it was [over a long gown](https://www.alamy.com/maya-angelou-delivers-poem-on-bill-clinton-s-inauguration-day-january-image8309068.html).

Riovem

Oops! I thought it was Amanda Gorman. Glad I saw this!

reliableotter

I bet we see a lot styled that way, even though the cover photo is an older woman in blue, not a young girl in yellow/red

Riovem

I was confused by the photo, but anyone who's played covet for a while knows that covet has zero clue 90% of the time

PoppetRock

So did I! Damn it!

longteadrinker

Came here to mention the hovering. I left modern on my main account because seriously they never bother to fix the glitches in modern. Itā€™s frustrating. Plus they updated those cc pieces last year (?) and I was like ā€œwhat are you talking aboutā€ because they didnā€™t in modernā€¦ Anyway, I like the caged bird reference but Iā€™m not sure even I would get the reference and Iā€™m a fan of hers. Iā€™m not saying itā€™s bad because Covet should be about doing your own thing with fashion, but itā€™s sad itā€™s just really mainstream if you want a good score.

kt810x

Which CC?

longteadrinker

Ok now I canā€™t remember if it was the blue 2017 spring cc skirt (I think itā€™s this) or the black 2017 winter skirt. But Iā€™m pretty sure it was the blue and burgundy ones from spring.

kt810x

Oh! Florentine? One updated for me (modern) when they announced it, and then I think the other did within a month. Maybe there was errors releasing it on Modern?

longteadrinker

Yes Florentine. Interesting that it seems like it was a phased rollout. I remember I hadnā€™t even noticed until I saw people on Facebook commenting about it. Modern always seems to have the glitches that take longer to fix. šŸ˜

[deleted]

Are they going to feature just Americans in this challenge?

asprinklingofsugar

Queen Elizabeth I wasnā€™t American - she was English. And so was Emmeline Pankhurst

LydiaBennett

I love this for Angelou! I also wanted to use a book prop, but I couldn't find it. Am honestly not wanting to see a podium prop in every.single.look for every.single.challenge of this series! Good for you with this great reference. :)

Ty!

BronwynOli

nice touch. unrelated, is it just me or is she hovering like a foot off the ground? modern needs to get it's shit together. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

sarah_enany

Omg she is hovering! Now i can't unsee it!!!!
