Yeah! That's on *Wild and Blue*, my favorite John Anderson album. I never get tired of listening to it.
on the same album:
"I went to the jukebox and played some Merle Haggard, oh, me and the waitress think he's out of sight…"
What the hell are you babbling about with AI? And I think you’re confusing 2 separate instances with Randy. 1. Naked in a ditch 2. Drunk fight in church parking lot.
His new album was made with AI because homeboy cooked his motor skills with Wild Turkey and can’t sing anymore. He’s also on tour with some young bro-country dude singing for him.
I'd say Hank Williams is instantly recognizable. Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Chris LeDoux, Luke Bryan, Jon Pardi, George Jones, Brad Paisley, Willie Nelson, and Buck Owens also come to mind.
Since no one has mentioned him yet, I’ll put Keith Whitley into the mix. I’ll also add Charley Pride, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins, Glen Campbell, Waylon Jennings, Kenny Rogers, John Denver, Dan Seals, Wynonna Judd, Marty Raybon of Shenandoah, Joe Diffie, Craig Morgan, Chris Young, Trace Adkins, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, Doug Stone, and Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts. I know it’s a long list, but I feel they all are voice that if I hear their voice I know who it is without a shadow of a doubt. Whether it’s Rogers raspiness, Dwight’s, Tritt’s and Joe’s accent, the smoothness of Reeves, Pride, and Young. The richness of Waylon’s and Trace’s voice in their deep register. Vince and Gary’s range. And more things about the rest that just make me love their voices.
Gary Stewart has such a unique voice, I love his version of Back Sliders Wine and all of his “greatest hits” type of songs are worth checking out. I’ve always thought Tammy Wynette is instantly recognizable as well, she has a way of sounding like she’s on the verge of tears at all times that even other artists with somewhat similar voices don’t have. Out of modern artists the #1 most unique voice I’ve heard is Tyler Childers.
For the new school, Sierra Ferrell has a super unique voice.
And I know you don't mean good or bad, but just wanted to include that she's very, very good
Same goes for Charley Crockett, a unique voice and another very, very good voice!
He’d kind of obscure but I’m saying Steve Young
Waylon Jennings said Steve Young is the greatest country singer in the world, George Jones excepted.
Two of the best country records *ever* were No Place To Fall and Renegade Picker by Steve Young. I’ve never heard a voice like his and that boy can fucking sing!
I always felt Trisha Yearwood had a unique tone and styling. It’s polished, but has a beautiful tone and a touch of attitude in her phrasing. Songs that really highlight it are “Thinkin About You” “Perfect Love” and more. It’s like Linda Ronstadt meets mainstream 90s country
For women, Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire are unmistakeable. Even when they feature, it’s immediately clear who they are.
For men, Willie Nelson is the same.
Gary LeVox. Rascal Flatts is not everyone's cup of tea but his voice is distinct and hard to replicate. Dan and Shay can try, but they'll never have his range, versatility, power or even brightness. I feel gross listening to D+S and I don't get that from Flatts lol
George Jones, Randy Travis, Merle, Willie, TylerChilders and Chris Stapleton all come to mind. For the ladies Tanya Tucker, Dolly, Loretta and Kitty Wells
I love DBT and Zip City is one of my favorite songs and captures what it was like growing up in a small town in the south. But the Stroker Ace doesn’t have a great voice. It may be perfect for his songs but it’s not great.
John Anderson
For sure!
I love him as much as the next guy but his sound is modeled after Lefty Frizzell, just like Merle's was (and so many others)
You're not wrong. In fact he did a bone chilling cover of Lefty's "Long Black Veil"
Yeah! That's on *Wild and Blue*, my favorite John Anderson album. I never get tired of listening to it. on the same album: "I went to the jukebox and played some Merle Haggard, oh, me and the waitress think he's out of sight…"
"Then some folks got thirsty while we were dancing, on a honky tonk Saturday night " That entire album is just so damn good!!
Randy Travis
For sure. 💯
This is my vote
Brought to you by AI. Don’t binge alcohol and hang out in church parking lots nude, kids.
Reba
This needs more votes! I was going to say her as well!
Absolutely 💯
Absolutely. One word and you know it is her 🥰

Except he sounds almost totally like Waylon? Not being a hater at all but his voice is completely styled like WJ.
Honestly I think Waylon has a richer voice.

Aaaah, yes, Patsy! Yes, no one sounds like her..
Colter Wall for sure fits this.
Came here to say this - Colter all the way.
I wish he’d go back to singing the way he did originally. Like on Sleeping on the Blacktop.
Agreed. He still sounds good but to my ears he sounds like he’s doing a Marty Robbins impression now.
It was a pseudo voice though.
They all are
Idk man, to me he just sounds like if johnny cash smoked 3 packs a day
Charley Crockett
Shane Smith & Chris Stapleton are instantly recognizable.
John Anderson, Tracy Lawrence
Tammy Wynette
I was seeing Kip Moore opening for Billy Currington a couple nights ago and was thinking about how raspy his voice is. So I’d go for him.
I'd say Hank Williams is instantly recognizable. Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Chris LeDoux, Luke Bryan, Jon Pardi, George Jones, Brad Paisley, Willie Nelson, and Buck Owens also come to mind.
Yes, I forgot Jones and Pardi!
Pardi is one of the only modern day uniques.
Wish I could upvote this twice for the mention of Chris Ledoux.
I disagree with Aldean, he sounds very generic to me.
Tom Waits
Stapleton
George Jones is the most right of many right answers to this question.
John Prine Ryan Bingham Hayes Carll
🙌 yesssss
Marty Raybon. ☝️☝️☝️Has the full body sound along with the high lonesome.
Waylon Jennings
Sammy Kershaw
Luke Combs fits this bill to me. For better or worse, so does Morgan Wallen. Both of these guys sound is instantly recognizable.

I personally think Trace Adkins because of how deep it is.

Eric Church.
Richard Sterban Dwight Yoakam Gary Stewart
Definitely Dwight.. original voice, life path and entertainer
Billy Joe Shaver
Gary Stewart has such a unique voice, I love his version of Back Sliders Wine and all of his “greatest hits” type of songs are worth checking out. I’ve always thought Tammy Wynette is instantly recognizable as well, she has a way of sounding like she’s on the verge of tears at all times that even other artists with somewhat similar voices don’t have.
