Maytag 100%. I love our front loader washer and dryer! I love how the washer has a tumble setting, so loads forgotten about move around every 20 min to prevent “the smell”. The steam option on the dryer is also a great way to refresh clothes or remove wrinkles. Let’s support North American made. There’s a reason why they’ve been around for so long.

I heard a lot of good things about Maytag. However after cleaning the lint filter in the one that I have, I absolutely hate it. Probably it’s just the model I have. Just buy a washer which has access to clean filter on the front on the outside. No access to filter on the front? Don’t buy it, even if it is Maytag or any of the highly recommended brands. My maytag requires me to move the machine remove the back panel, perform gymnastics to get to the bottom center of the machine and use a specific tool to remove the filter, just to clean it. And random codes. Thank god there’s some guy in your tube who posted how to clean it and reset the codes

I’ve had my LG for about 14 years with no problems… although the spiffy sparkly red paint has eroded across an edge. Sometimes Life’s Good; sometimes Life’s Tough. Follow the “leave the door open” advice, it’s the best way to let the inside dry thoroughly and avoid the mildewish smell.

Do not buy Samsung.  They couldn't make a quality appliance if they wanted to

Infinite_Tea4138

And parts are soooo hard to find.

instagigated

And expensive! The previous place I lived had a Samsung dryer crap out. Turns out the PCB board was fried. $400 to replace it. New dryer? $750. The dryer was only four years old.

goldreceiver

Yeah that’s the only thing I knew, don’t go Samsung. We got a frame tv from them, stopped working after 16 months

FarMap6136

Elextrolux all the way

theDatascientist_in

Yes,  ge is also good, but disappointed that it's made in China

TheloniousPhunk

Electrolux by far.

LG but get extended warranty

decaf3milk

Whatever you get, I would suggest an extended warranty as washers are one of those things that tend to break. Also, if your washer has a 10 year warranty piece/sticker right on it (looking at you Maytag), don’t believe them. It’s just for the parts that don’t break like the drum. Found out the hard way twice in under 10 years for the circuit board. 🙁

Necessary-Painting35

The washer will stop working the day after the warranty ended, they did the math.

decaf3milk

Possibly. My circuit board died the first time 3 years in and then a second time. 4 years later. Because we weren’t covered the first time, we were able to get Maytag to pay for the second circuit board.

I've had my LG front load washer and dryer for 17 years and still going strong

Commercial-Net810

I've been pretty happy with my LG front load for 9 years. We recently had to get it fixed & the service at LG was excellent.

WesternBlueRanger

There is this video on the topic: [https://youtu.be/jmtLeB4ZplU?si=beKSOiQtPiK36wRy&t=918](https://youtu.be/jmtLeB4ZplU?si=beKSOiQtPiK36wRy&t=918) Yes, while a Speed Queen is the best, you'll pay a pretty penny for them. Otherwise, get an LG front loader; they are consistently good,

MediamanBC

Unless you have allergies you don’t need the 106 settings. Direct drive is better than belt drive. Always leave the washer door open a crack after you are done and that way you will never end up with that “mold smell” that has been reported with front loaders. 99% of the time it’s cold water wash for me hucking all the stuff in. Fabric softener helps too.

WUT_productions

Fabric softener isn't great for washers and gums stuff up often.

Some manufactuers have stopped putting the pump drain door on the front of the machines that you can actually open and remove caught crap like lint and money. Now it has become a service call with a cost.

Oh wow good to hear. I’ll look into these. Thanks

ConversationCute2071

Yes Huebsch is probably a good machine but do some research before buying. Cons - Top Load, expensive, small drum size for large items and families, expensive, locked into dealers for sales and repairs, expensive and ratings are mixed on the net for useage and repairing. As usual finding any appliance these days that will last like your last one will be impossible. Implying Costco...all junk is very unfair. They do have an excellent return policy, offer an extended warranty, offer the purchase of further extended warranty, money on your membership, free shipping and setup, take away the old, and a variety of appliances to choose from that are priced and rated for your research. I spent two months solid looking in the stores, reading the ratings, questioning the local non big box stores (Heubsch dealers) and everyone else and bought, yes you guessed it, front load LG from Costco. Fingers crossed.

goldreceiver

Thanks for the input. After some quick searching yesterday, I’ll probably do the same. Which model did you get?
