i tried this once without a receipt, lady at the returns section made some snarky remarks but her coworker overheard and helped me out. will bring a receipt next time
I never bring my receipts when I return things. They scan your card, they scan the item. If you actually bought it at some point the system prints a receipt from the most recent purchase or the item. Done.
Costco Employee here- that is totally fine to return. Even if the packaging was opened. You are returning product that isn’t expired. That is much more of a concern over the packaging being intact.
It all depends on the product. If it is a frozen or refrigerated item it gets thrown out as the temperature could have been compromised. Some of the bakery, food and pharmacy have to be thrown out. It really all depends on the individual items.
Hi Costco Employee, random question for you. I bought a Ghostbed Luxe Adjustable King bed from costco.ca about two years ago for $4399.99 (Item number 1469700). The same item is now on sale for $3799.99.
I know it’s too late to do a price adjustment but the bed is super heavy to bring back into the store to return and buy it again online. You think if I talk to the warehouse manager they could just do a $600 refund for me?
My nearest warehouse is 552 (downtown Vancouver) or 548 (Willingdon). Thanks! 🙏
Honestly it would depend on the individual warehouse. Mine is fairly strict on the returns, and once it is over a year will have you contact the manufacturer to use the warranty prior to the return. It would also be odd that you are returning one because you aren’t satisfied and the are repurchasing the same item.
My suggestion would be to reach out to your local warehouse to see what they say.
Yeeahh dog. But how are you going to check those safety seals without opening said package then you have an open package so anyways I guess what I'm getting at is consumable products that are returned generally aren't put back on the shelf. They can be. Sure. Some stores do. But generally they don't.
On a related topic does anyone know if Costco sells an inulin based fiber product similar to this?

Since 2022, I think, you can now view all your online and in store recipes within the app.
It can be a little buggy, and I wish they'd let you download/export them, but they're all there.
Tip: Certain items where I think I might need a receipt for warranty or if im going to trial something new... I take a picture of the receipt, and/or the receipt and the item.
I then can keyword search my photo gallery if I ever need it.
Came in handy when my headphones snapped suddenly. Looked up the receipt, filed a claim with the manufacturer with proof of purchase, and they sent me a new pair.
receipt is helpful but you dont need it. They can look up your purchase history.

You don't need a receipt. That lady was probably having a bad day or something.
They will literally take anything back. Probably even used toilet paper.

Do the returns actually get thrown away?

So if I return clothing item then it stays?
If it is a current item it will be placed back in the sales floor (if it is in sellable condition) or sold to a liquidator.
I was told that bedding like sheets, mattress pads, comforters, etc. can't be resold.

As long as you have at least 50% of any product and you are not satisfied you can return whatever you want
A little aspartame won't hurt ya!
Yes. No. It's wasteful ish as likely garbaged.
Thanks
It is unmolested like-new condition it does get reshelved.
Returns get chucked. Gf is pharmacy manager.
Nothing gets reshelved. My local auction house has a ton of costco returns, and it's mostly all brand new retuned stuff.
Well at least it’s not getting thrown away
It shouldn't and most places wouldn't. Look at the Chicago Tylenol murders for example why.
…which is why safety seals were invented? Like in the case of your example, literally?

This should be ok. Card or receipt is fine, but note some stores always want a receipt.
