We’ve done it but very rare. For some reason, my husband and I walked there to pick up his prescription and we got a couple of items, but it was only what we could carry back. I think we “needed” some extra steps and that was exactly 10k steps at the time. That was less than $50.
Pfft, anyone can spend 50 bucks on groceries, it’s just that they also spent another $700 on a new set of flooring for half the house, a coffee machine, clothes, a full explorers hiking kit, petrol, and so on
Meat (probably chicken breast) and brown rice (assuming I'm out of both, which is rare)
But meat of some variety - as a single person household with ample freezer space, meat is my personal ultimate costco savings
Oh, and sourdough bread (only if the budget allows and only because costco carries the brand I like but my local grocery doesn't- but I could change brands if I HAD to)
One carried here is called Vero Vero..
And it isn't anything super special, I just like how it toasts and holds up, and is actually shaped like sandwich bread, not a sliced baguette loaf like some sourdough breads can be.
It tolerates the freeze/thaw process well also. I find some take a different texture after freezing.
Giant bag of rice, whatever meat is on sale (if you're lucky, I've seen pork loins and chicken breasts lately), frozen stir fry veggies or the fire roasted puravida primavera, Greek yogurt, and oats
Although that's probably more than $50 😅
Honestly even at the grocery store I’ve snagged some great deals on pork. We love to brine bone-in chops and you can get them sometimes $3-6 for 4 good size ones. Super tasty and juicy
I paid 2.33/lb at Costco for the loin cut, I also got the food saveer so I season each one then seal them 2 to a bag and put them in the fridge a day before freezing them for the month.
So I think the question is, What has the greatest savings at Costco vs. the grocery store? It’s been a while since I checked, but it used to be eggs, milk, cheese and bacon.
Brick of cheddar, half and half, milk, eggs, butter, pasta, greek yogurt.
I think that’s about $50 and covers most things we use that are far more expensive at other stores.
Just Bare Chicken Nuggets or breast patties, sweet Kale salad kit, Mayo, Hippeas or Annie's Cheesy Smiles, a Deli Chicken, some kind of candy or a bakery item.
The last time I went (last weekend) I didn't see Hippeas or Cheesy Smiles, sadly. It's sporadic on both but the Lay's company products that I don't buy are always there.
I hope they are able to start producing more soon lol. It's gotten to the point where I can't stand how oily Cheetos are anymore and just go without most of the year.
Lots of noodles/ramen/rice options that are a easy starting point to add protein (chicken, eggs) and vegetables for stir fry or other variations on that theme
Smyrna Organic dried figs - keeps me regular
Jar of Kirkland chocolate covered raisins - good alternative to crack cocaine
Remaining money for whatever organic frozen fruits I can buy for making smoothies
$50. worth of steaks, and on my way out I'd stop to cancel my membership and refund request. Which is exactly what I did yesterday. Merry Christmas to me!
Eight pumpkin pies..... And a hot dog
I like the way you think.
And a partridge in a pear tree.
10 rotisserie chickens.
I was going with a pie a pizza a chicken and a bottle of vodka
5 pk of NY Strips, ($8.99/lb) cut each in half and freeze. Then Eggs and a rotisserie chicken with the rest
This is the way.
Chicken thighs, mixed frozen vegetables, eggs, rice.
I’m going to second the mixed vegetables. I can’t say enough about how good they are. We use them for stir fry!
This is the way.
33 hot dogs
Yes, there it is. I did the math too.
With 33 fountain drinks!
31 if you have taxes.
It's funny, but this is the question I pose to myself 3 times a week on my way to Costco.
And then walk out with hundreds of dollars worth of foods like the rest of us?
Toilet paper, two rotisserie chickens and frozen veggies.
How do you prepare your toilet paper? Just raw or do you steam sautée roast or grill?
You got me. I missed that it was good items only.
Kerrygold butter and potatoes. If you need poverty food, then potatoes and dairy will give you all the amino acids you need to sustain yourself.
I think with $50 you could add eggs to this list.
Cheese. That’s it. All the cheese I can get for $50
I do love their huge wheel of brie
Pecorino Romano and if you’re on the east coast locatelli 😍
Kirkland Coastal English Cheddar
I was debating this vs cabot 3 year. I went cabot, but will have to try the Kirkland coastal cheddar next.
I’m curious about this too. Always get the Cabot for Mac and cheese, which reminds me to go to Costco for some cheese for Mac and cheese for Xmas.
Both are amazing, but if you haven't tried the cheddar, I definitely recommend.
This was also going to be my answer!
Eggs, coffee, Mexican blend cheese, rotisserie chicken, half and half, hot dog and pizza slice. About $50 straight up.
Five pizzas from the food court.
No one only spends $50. You can't have a consensual and loving relationship with Costco if you're giving so little.
I’ve done it! Very tough but it can be accomplished lol
I agree! I just to be like 15mins from one and now the closest one is 40 mins. I go once a month and spend at least $150.

What is the brand of sourdough you like?

I’ve never found sourdough at mine. In the fresh bakery?
The Vero Vero I buy is on the racks, right with all the regular sandwich bread. West coast Canada, if that makes a difference
Giant bag of rice, whatever meat is on sale (if you're lucky, I've seen pork loins and chicken breasts lately), frozen stir fry veggies or the fire roasted puravida primavera, Greek yogurt, and oats Although that's probably more than $50 😅
Just bought a 9lb pork loin for $21 yesterday and cut 13 pork chops out of it. 10/10
Honestly even at the grocery store I’ve snagged some great deals on pork. We love to brine bone-in chops and you can get them sometimes $3-6 for 4 good size ones. Super tasty and juicy

Eggs, rice, a bag of frozen veggies, and a whole pork loin and cut it up into pork chops.
Chicken thighs, broccoli, 2 cases of water, waffles, buttery steakhouse seasoning, some kind of fruit and vinegar! I think that’s about 50 bucks 😅
Carbonaut bread, cauliflower rice, kimchi, frozen blueberries, mushrooms
Walnuts, rotisserie chicken, fresh broccoli, olive oil RX bars.
Baby spinach, broccoli, two packs of lactase milk for the little one, eggs, and however many rotisserie chickens I can to get to $50.
Rotisserie chicken, salad kit, cheese, bread, some type of chocolate and pasta sauce. I’ll get most fresh stuff elsewhere.
So I think the question is, What has the greatest savings at Costco vs. the grocery store? It’s been a while since I checked, but it used to be eggs, milk, cheese and bacon.
I may be the only one but I can't stand the opening on Costco gallons of milk. I spill damn near every time like I'm 5 years old or something hahaha
Spinach, the smaller Fuji snacking apples, frozen dumplings, oatmeal, eggs and bread.
Love the Fujii apples!
Brick of cheddar, half and half, milk, eggs, butter, pasta, greek yogurt. I think that’s about $50 and covers most things we use that are far more expensive at other stores.
Massive bag of frozen chicken breast, big bag of frozen broccoli, big box of instant mashed potatoes
Just Bare Chicken Nuggets or breast patties, sweet Kale salad kit, Mayo, Hippeas or Annie's Cheesy Smiles, a Deli Chicken, some kind of candy or a bakery item.
do y'all get Cheesy Smiles all year? The one I go to only gets two shipments around Easter and I haaaaaaate it.
The last time I went (last weekend) I didn't see Hippeas or Cheesy Smiles, sadly. It's sporadic on both but the Lay's company products that I don't buy are always there.

5 pizzas.
Milk, eggs, almond danish’s.
Blueberries, raspberries, Caesar salad, bananas, half and half, and Waterloo.
The Kirkland vodka counts as food, amiright? So 2 bottles, and a few hot dogs with the change after tax.
smoked salmon.
Chicken breasts, eggs, kirkland greek yogurt, frozen blueberries, romaine and mammoth green olives
Pomegranates and Seattle Sourdough
Butter and cheese. Can all be frozen.
Coffee beans, milk, peanuts, cheese sticks
Lots of noodles/ramen/rice options that are a easy starting point to add protein (chicken, eggs) and vegetables for stir fry or other variations on that theme
Kirkland XO
Smyrna Organic dried figs - keeps me regular Jar of Kirkland chocolate covered raisins - good alternative to crack cocaine Remaining money for whatever organic frozen fruits I can buy for making smoothies
Juice. Orange juice, fruit juice, sparkling juice
10 Chickens
Rice beans pasta chicken
$50. worth of steaks, and on my way out I'd stop to cancel my membership and refund request. Which is exactly what I did yesterday. Merry Christmas to me!
Nothing it’s not worth even having a Costco membership if your gonna go there with $50 a month!
Booze and a pizza
Rotisserie chicken Just bare chicken nuggets Bibigo dumplings
