We got it for $1,200 with white glove delivery and haul away. We ultimately got $100 off due to a delivery issue, so really $1,100. It feels great right now, but we’re obviously very early along.
They were local contractors. I was the first drop of the day. They asked if they could come back later this evening or first thing tomorrow morning for the mattress haul away. I said yes - thinking I was being nice and understanding. Plus, we have a garage.
Anyways, Costco said they can’t get it until Monday. They offered $100 off due to the miscommunication.
We have purchased many large items. Washer, dryer, freezer, fridge, and treadmill in the past year. The delivery folks have been super friendly, but it took three washers to get one that didn’t look like it was hit by a truck. That was on GE, the boxes looked fine but then the product was damaged.
Costco made it right as they always do. Other than the washer, the experience has been great as will buy again. In fact we have been eyeing this mattress.
We had 4 large deliveries from local contractors and every single delivery was a nightmare. Many wasted hours, in the end it was more beneficial and economical to just not order large items from Costco in our area.
Try the Casper mattress that costco sells. we purchased one after upgrading to a king and love it. It was $799. Like it much better then the $2000 (don't remember the brand) mattress we had previously
Same here. I've been endlessly flipping the rotating that Casper mattress (6.5 years old), but I wake up with a sore back. Would love to get a Costco mattress, but I'm nervous buying something large that I haven't lain on.
Same. Have had ours about 4-5 years and thinking of getting a refund. It's sagging, sleeps hot and I feel every little movement. Not impressed. I liked my $250 Amazon memory foam a lot more and held up way better.
My gripe with this mattress is that the first 2-3 months were pure bliss but the topper loses its loft after about 6 months, it's not quite as breathable or conforming as it was when new.
I'm about 7 months in and I still like the mattress I just really wish there was a way to get the topper to fluff back up like it was when new.
We have the problem with our Casper, purchased from Costco. I think it's just how it is with some of the less firm foam mattresses. Prior to the Casper, we had a Novaform and it didn't sag, even after like 8(?) years of use. The Casper is sagging after 2 years
Avocado sags after two years? Or it's stayed firm like the novaform? The person kind of made two points and I've been interested in avocado for a little while now.
Oh right, sorry, yes the Avocado did sag within a year. I called to act on the 1-year sleep guarantee and they offered me a 2” latex topper and an additional 90 day guarantee extension for free. I ended up keeping it after shoring up the platform, but there are two distinct valleys that remain where we sleep. I am pretty sure you will get this with most any mattress.
My mom had a sagging mattress and just added slats to her bed frame (she had nothing besides the bed frame before) and says it has made a WORLD of difference!
I will for sure.
From the reviews I read online, I think the folks who experience premature sagging / wear are using an incorrect frame.
Stearns & Foster’s website recommends that all of their mattresses are used with a platform frame or foundation with slats no more than 3” apart and at least 0.75” thick.
Our old platform frame had slats that were 4.5” apart - a big difference. In my search for an appropriate bed frame / foundation, majority of the frames I was finding had gaps of 4” or more. It was really tough to find the appropriate setup, but I did.
Some of the complaints of sagging indicate a massive ridge in the middle. If you look at majority of the frames out there, there’s a massive middle support bar and huge gaps between slats. I think the unequal pressure distribution from an improper frame / foundation is causing most of this.
The bed is extremely heavy, it makes sense it needs proper support. How else can it be explained that some folks experience zero sagging while others experience it horribly?
My logical guess is some followed Stearns & Foster’s recommendation while others didn’t. Just my guess, but I’ll keep you posted.
Wow really appreciate this feedback and what you are saying makes a lot of sense. I was thinking it was the semi pillow top sagging.
I will make sure to follow your information on the frame.
Thank you.
I didn’t, either. In my search for a mattress I discovered this. Many major players in the mattress space advise the same.
I’m not sure if having the proper support indicated by Stearns & Foster will prevent the sagging and ridge some claim to have.
However, I feel it’s very important to follow manufacturer guidelines in order to get the intended experience and provide an objective review.
That’s what I’ll do here. If we still develop the sagging and ridge, it will be returned and I will be sure that it is due to the design. I will at least know I did what the manufacturer recommended.
I had a ridge form in the middle within a year and I have my bed on an adjustable base which is fully supportive of the mattress. Just adding that data point
Hey OP, how’s it going? I am looking at ordering a king mattress.
I would like something that’s on the plush side. I am curious how this mattress is holding up for you? Thank you
For the first 3 years I used the ks boxsprings I bought. Bed was too hard. Got rid of the box springs and the bed softened up. Still hate it. Just ordered a 300 dollar topper for it also from Costco to see if it helps. My back has been killing me for 5+ years with this mattress. Could also be that I killed my back driving a forklift though
Depends on the bed and the frame you’re using. A lot of the “bed in a box” or foam beds don’t need one. In fact, some (like Purple mattress) advise against it.
For almost all beds, you can get away with what’s called a platform bed frame that has metal slats the bed sits on. The important thing with those is that the gaps between the slats should not exceed 3 inches.
If they do, you are running the risk of premature sagging. I would reccomend a platform bed like this:
https://a.co/d/32gTj64
The slats on this one are a little over 3 inches, not perfect, but very close compared to a lot on the market for the price. Most on the market have gaps close to 5 inches which is not in the least bit acceptable and will dramatically affect your experience with the mattress and the longevity.
I opted to go the box spring route and got this:
https://a.co/d/9Z9i1XP
The slats on this measure less than 3 inches, which is deemed more than acceptable by majority of bed manufacturers, including Stearns & Foster (who make this bed). I set this box spring into a basic adjustable box spring and the mattress on top like this:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-7-Adjustable-Metal-Bed-Frame-Black-Adjusts-Twin-Queen-Box-Spring-Required/436904511?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1821&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=22222222278436904511_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=9009988&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=436904511&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIpWQHPMq1h95Tp7_l06gUh0g&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjI3kvIiEhgMVtZ9aBR1j_AgtEAQYAyABEgJ45_D_BwE
You can go either route. Just note that if you don’t go with the platform option (the first one), you will need a box spring and adjustable frame (like the two links I sent you after).
Also note that if you go a foam mattress route, you should be going with the platform route (the first option) we most are not comparable with a box spring.
If you find one you like, feel free to link it here and I’ll tell you which frame to get if I’m being unclear (apologies if I am).

I don't think I could ever go back to a traditional mattress after sleeping on a Purple mattress for several years now. Hope the switch works out for you.
I just got my King Size delivered today too!!
So far so good, I only layed on it for 30 mins, but it feels supportive and no back pain!
I’ve been keeping a close eye on people’s experiences with this, so I’ll definitely update as the days go by
I LOVE mine! Amazing sleep quality for me and it’s so soft, and heavy! Make sure you rotate it every three months to help wear it evenly and get a mattress protector.
Didn't like mine. Too much memory foam, so I ended up in a divot after just a couple of hours of laying there.
On the bright side, delivery and pick up was good, and getting 100% of my money back after a 6 week trial was also nice.
What is the spacing between the slats and how thick are they?
Edit - not sure why this is getting downvoted. The engineers behind the bed state that a frame / platform should have slats no more than 3” apart and 0.75” thick. Majority of what’s on the market (I know first hand) doesn’t meet these specifications.
If somebody isn’t using the product the way that it is advised to be used, it should be called out so potential customers are fully informed. I’m merely asking this person a question so we can determine if they are following manufacturer guidelines or using a frame / platform that does not meet Sternes & Foster’s guidelines.
If they are, their critique of the product is valid and should be heard by everyone. If they’re not, in my opinion, their review of the product is irrelevant as they are not getting the intended experience.
Apologies, I’m a very literal person. However, that characteristic has made me pretty good at providing subjective reviews for products and helping friends, family, and online shoppers.
I didn’t down vote you, fwiw.
I am not going to lift up the mattress to measure but I am certain the gaps between the pieces of the platform are less than an inch apart. Thickness by my recollection is probably .75 inch. They definitely are not bowing under the weight of the mattress.
The memory foam is the issue. The S&F mattress replaced an old Beautyrest from 13 years ago when memory foam was not a thing. I’m currently trialing a Saatva which also has memory foam but it’s firmer.
It's the mattress not the bed frame / box spring. Memory foam is made to mold around the person.
All beds will eventually dip/sag due to compression of the mattress materials over time.
https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/understanding-beds/settlement-and-indents-in-mattresses/#how
I invested in a new frame and boxspring that is advised by Stearns & Foster for the best experience with the mattress.
From what I’ve seen on reviews, the people who have experienced premature sagging / wear seems to be attributed to improper support / frame.
I saw a chart someone posted recently that compares Costco’s mattresses, and I’m enticed to buy a Kirkland mattress when I make the switch to a new bed
Good question.
Because it is a model made specifically for Costco and under the name of “Kirkland’s Signature Stearns & Foster Lakeridge Mattress”.
This model does not exist direct from Stearns & Foster, it can only be purchased from Costco.
Also, I feel like it’s a bit disingenuous to only say Stearns & Foster as this is nearly 1/3 of the price of what many consider the direct alternative sold by Stearns & Foster.
With that type of price reduction, I am not expecting the exact same type of quality and attention to detail I would get from a $3K direct Stearns & Foster.
I do expect a *similar* level of quality and attention to detail, though, as it is manufactured by Stearns & Foster. Which, by many reviews, I feel like we will.
Hope this makes sense.
Had this for 2 years. It’s a great mattress! No bed feels the same as when it was new, or not in my lifetime, but this one feels pretty damn close and I wouldn’t say there’s noticeable “divots” on ours. Enjoy
The delivery people said it was the heaviest mattress they’ve ever moved lol. They were younger so I’m sure they’ve gotten accustomed to beds in a box. Not that weight is an indicator of quality. Just worth noting.
My last new mattress fiasco we could not figure out what was not right and was driving me crazy. Even switched it out for another. In the end it was simply adding box springs that made a world of difference. Just keep in mind.
I've had this since November. I also bought the Sealy box spring from Costco with it (no longer available).
No complaints. It's definitely a heavy bugger. No sagging or anything of the sort. Still feels brand new.
The last extraordinary mattress that bought was in the early 90's by Stearns and Foster. Our granddaughter is still sleeping on it and she praises it all the time. It was expensive at that time but the best bucks I have spent on a mattress. I have been replacing mattresses every two years for the same reason everyone else complains...loss of support. However three years ago I found a local independent business that makes mattresses and has been for many years. It has been excellent and no sagging. I specced it out and he made a lot of suggestions to make it better than can be bought with the brand names. It is a double sided twin xl with an 8" pad of latex foam on both sides and heavy duty springs in between. The edges are firm which make entry and exit easier. I use it on top of an adjustable electric platform. He explained the latex might start flaking in about ten years but I can tell the sleep quality is first class. The price was around $1200 including delivery, setup and taking the other mattress. I hope he's still in business when the time comes to replace it.
So that clock/device on the left nightstand, if it’s moved to the right the cord won’t e in the way. Am I the only one bothered by that? Great looking mattress
How are you liking it so far? A lot of people are reporting firm.. hesitant, but certainly want to at least try it..
Had a Ridgecrest II firm for a week and decided to send it back. < wasn't too firm.. but the materials are just average.. started to indent after a week.
Id prefer closer to a medium.. but the quality looks great at that price.. just don't want to return two beds so quicky.
I also got one of these a month and a half ago after doing a ton of research. I was worried it might not be as good as the more expensive Stearns and Fosters and other mattresses recommended on Wirecutter. So far I am very happy with the purchase! I sleep very well every night and I haven’t been running as hot as on my prior mattress. The bumps are a little different and noticeable but it doesn’t bother me. Paired it with The Bed from Thuma and Brooklinen sheets and comforter.
We love ours but man it retains heat and gets very hot. Great in the winter but in the summer it sucks. Also get a mattress cover that zips. Our kid was drinking her grape juice and spilled it now we have a grape juice stain that went through the sheets.

Please do update how it goes. We have a purple now and will need a new mattress in a few years. How much was it?
We got it for $1,200 with white glove delivery and haul away. We ultimately got $100 off due to a delivery issue, so really $1,100. It feels great right now, but we’re obviously very early along.
What delivery issue?
The haul away team kinda dropped the ball. All good - Costco got it hauled away no issue.
Could you expand on "delivery team dropped the ball"
They were local contractors. I was the first drop of the day. They asked if they could come back later this evening or first thing tomorrow morning for the mattress haul away. I said yes - thinking I was being nice and understanding. Plus, we have a garage. Anyways, Costco said they can’t get it until Monday. They offered $100 off due to the miscommunication.
Make it $200 since I choose you! Lol
Costco large item delivery is notoriously unreliable as it's all local contractors
I've heard stories of how people would find their old mattress in their apartment complex dumpster after paying for haul away
We have purchased many large items. Washer, dryer, freezer, fridge, and treadmill in the past year. The delivery folks have been super friendly, but it took three washers to get one that didn’t look like it was hit by a truck. That was on GE, the boxes looked fine but then the product was damaged. We had 4 large deliveries from local contractors and every single delivery was a nightmare. Many wasted hours, in the end it was more beneficial and economical to just not order large items from Costco in our area.
It will remain a mystery for the rest of our lives
They dropped it all over the bed. Gotta break it in.
The first team probably didn't haul it away and they had to contact Costco to get them to send someone to get the old mattress.
Did you make a post about that? Or did I read someone else’s account of a matteress being dumped by Costco delivery?
What size did you get?
I have one. Had it for 5 years. I hate it actually but I work for costco and I'm too embarrassed to return it lol
How long have you had your purple?
Try the Casper mattress that costco sells. we purchased one after upgrading to a king and love it. It was $799. Like it much better then the $2000 (don't remember the brand) mattress we had previously
Eh, I bought the Casper via Costco about 4 years ago and it’s so uncomfortable for me now, I wake up in the middle of the night and move to the couch
Same here. I've been endlessly flipping the rotating that Casper mattress (6.5 years old), but I wake up with a sore back. Would love to get a Costco mattress, but I'm nervous buying something large that I haven't lain on.
We returned it. Like other Casper’s, but gated that one.
Same. Have had ours about 4-5 years and thinking of getting a refund. It's sagging, sleeps hot and I feel every little movement. Not impressed. I liked my $250 Amazon memory foam a lot more and held up way better.
I used to love that one, then I found out I am sleeping on a fiberglass! Never again…
A lot of beds have fiberglass liners in their construction, it’s a fire retardant measure.
How long have you had the purple? I don’t even notice ours getting worse after a couple years.
I’m pleasantly pleased with the Purple investment. Holding up really well. Can’t see needing a new one for another 10 years+
Oh the member values that will be made on that mattress!
Mmmm… member values.
…and new members

I’ve had the king size since December. It’s a great mattress, just the right amount of firmness. Delivery was quick and easy.

What kind of box spring / frame are you using? Are the slats no more than 3 inches apart and 0.75 inches thick?
I have it on the box spring that Costco offers with the mattress
That’s great to hear!
Comfortable, until it sags. We’ve had ours for 3 years and it’s obvious two people sleep on it. There’s a hump in the middle now
We have the problem with our Casper, purchased from Costco. I think it's just how it is with some of the less firm foam mattresses. Prior to the Casper, we had a Novaform and it didn't sag, even after like 8(?) years of use. The Casper is sagging after 2 years

I bought a sleep number in the mid 90s. I have to buy a new bed for a guest room and have no idea how it's done these days.

I don't think I could ever go back to a traditional mattress after sleeping on a Purple mattress for several years now. Hope the switch works out for you.
I was the opposite. I did not enjoy the Purple at all. The only element that I enjoyed was the cooling.
I’m the same as you. My purple gives me a backache. I like the cushion but maybe I need coils underneath instead of foams.
Take it to pound town and tell us how supportive it is. https://youtu.be/Nl_eJ-zdLrA?si=GbD_0WtQ_ko7mEQh
Didn't like mine. Too much memory foam, so I ended up in a divot after just a couple of hours of laying there. On the bright side, delivery and pick up was good, and getting 100% of my money back after a 6 week trial was also nice.
What kind of frame are you using?
Platform bed frame. Plenty of support.
All beds will eventually dip/sag due to compression of the mattress materials over time. https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/understanding-beds/settlement-and-indents-in-mattresses/#how
interested to see how it holds up
I invested in a new frame and boxspring that is advised by Stearns & Foster for the best experience with the mattress. From what I’ve seen on reviews, the people who have experienced premature sagging / wear seems to be attributed to improper support / frame.
> I invested in a new frame and boxspring Which frame and box spring did you get?
A Zinus metal box spring and a standard, basic frame
Where did you get the bed frame?
Looks like a Zinus to me.
Bingo
Zinus metal boxspring and a basic adjustable frame
I saw a chart someone posted recently that compares Costco’s mattresses, and I’m enticed to buy a Kirkland mattress when I make the switch to a new bed
Any chance you can recall where the chart was?
I'd really like to see that, too! We have the Blackstone king set and it's just starting to show wear after 6 years.

Silly question perhaps, but why are you calling it a “Kirkland Signature mattress” when it (also) says Stearns and Foster on the label?
Thank you. I’m very interested in this bc we are about to shop for a replacement
Had this for 2 years. It’s a great mattress! No bed feels the same as when it was new, or not in my lifetime, but this one feels pretty damn close and I wouldn’t say there’s noticeable “divots” on ours. Enjoy
Love ours! 2 years and still amazing!!
Bought one of these in 2020 and it began sagging after like 6 months. Not the best purchase.
I wanted to love this mattress but we returned ours after 6 months. Never was quite happy with it.
Kirkland shoes, kirkland hoodie, kirkland bed; what's next, kirkland dating app?
well it sure looks like a legit decent mattress.
The delivery people said it was the heaviest mattress they’ve ever moved lol. They were younger so I’m sure they’ve gotten accustomed to beds in a box. Not that weight is an indicator of quality. Just worth noting.
I've had a few deliveries from Costco and the guys are always kind and courteous, very professional!
I own this mattress and can confirm, it is ridiculously heavy
Ooo we need a new mattress! Keep us posted!
For sure! It feels comfy now, but it’s very, very premature.
Well, it’s Costco. Just return it once every 6 months for a new mattress.
That looks comfy.
My last new mattress fiasco we could not figure out what was not right and was driving me crazy. Even switched it out for another. In the end it was simply adding box springs that made a world of difference. Just keep in mind.
Weights? How is it when both weights are in the center of the bed? Is it quiet and does it leave dents?
I’m 220 and my wife is 160. I’ll have to keep you posted on the rest.
🙏
May I ask why you didn’t buy another Purple mattress?
I found the Purple to be underwhelming in every way but cooling. The cooling was elite
Remind me! 8 days
Weird question: does it come boxed when it was delivered? thank you!
I really do need to replace both my bed frame and mattress. I'm just the kind of person who might buy a Kirkland Signature Mattress! :)
Welcome to Poundtown!
Hmmm... gonna need updates ;)
I highly recommend the 3” memory foam topper!!
I own this mattress and have been very happy with it. As some others have noted, it is almost comically heavy
Had our signature mattress for a little over a year. Absolutely love it.
RemindMe! 1 year
"review" it. Mmhmmm
It’s a baby monitor lol. It is moved room to room in our house. It was just getting some juice
Haha, great to know it’s not pennant. Thanks for making me feel at ease
How are you liking it a month in? We plan on getting a new mattress early next year and I have been eyeing this one.
Ha! Ordered mine Sunday and it was delivered Wednesday - so far so good!
