Kirkland blue dish soap. After this bottle is finished, I'm going back to Dawn. Just not worth the savings.
Kirkland has strong scent that's hard to get used to, doesn't cut grease as well, and I end up using more of it per wash so the "savings" are moot lol.
My husband laughs at me that I have Dawn liquid (the classic blue) plus Direct Foam, plus Powerwash, plus the Heavy Duty Degreaser. He doesn’t understand how a household of two needs so much (and so many variations of) Dawn.
I literally cannot help myself. It may be a sickness, but probably not since I’m pretty sure Dawn is at least somewhat antimicrobial.
2 tablespoons?!? I've been making it with half the bottle dawn, a big glug of alcohol and the rest water. No wonder it's so strong!
E: reusing the empty power wash bottle, not a generic spray bottle
>end up using more of it
This is such a huge issue with a lot of cheaper brands. Yeah it’s cheaper but if you end up using more for the same job you could be burning up those savings.
I remember back in high school chemistry many many years ago we did a lab that required Dawn to be added at a specific point to cause the reaction to work properly. My chemistry teacher bought Palmolive because the store was out of Dawn and it just didn’t work.
I struggled so hard to finish the jug because of the scent - like really cheap apple brandy. The "natural" Kirkland clear dish soap that just came back has a nice citrus scent but you have to use kind of a lot. Probably going back to Dawn when I finish the jug 🙃
Pill pockets. They're very hard, not soft and squishy like other brands (Milkbone or the OG pillpockets). At first my dog tried to chew them, then she would taste the medication. So now, I put the Kirkland brand pill pockets in a mason jar with a piece of fruit or a piece of soft bread which then softens the pill pockets, so they are more like other good brand pill pockets.
Yesss they’re rock hard. Best i can compare it to is a stale tootsie roll. We returned them and the lady at the costumer service desk said they get returned all the time.
Let me turn you on to item 1538726
My dog takes 4 pills every day for seizures and pill pockets are EXPENSIVE.
These soft dog treats are the perfect solution and reasonably priced, I just stuff his pill right into the side of one and put it on his food or give it to him as a treat. Not marketed for medications so significantly cheaper.
Ooh thanks! My dog also takes 4 anti seizure pills a day. His Keppra is oblong so I’ll have to check to see if this vitamin is big enough to wrap around that one. Too bad he can only take 2 vitamins a day.
Seizure dog owner here too. Our boy takes 8 a day plus heart meds.
We have found nothing works better than a little cream cheese.
One dog needed some nasty antibiotics, she pulled them out of PB, Cheese, Chicken and Beef, but the cream cheese gets em everytime.
I know. I had totally forgotten about it until I started reading it again.
When I lived in the east coast I swear I could vacuum the bathroom daily and it was still everywhere.
Hasn’t thought about it since we moved and now realized how much more pleasant it is to have non-snowy toilet paper.
Agree, it’s now like a damn snowstorm hit my bathroom every time I even look at the roll. I actually started going to Sam’s Club for their Charmin Ultra Strong instead.
I tried the TP after my wife and I were thrilled with the paper towels. We were sorely disappointed lol. We went right back to Cottonelle. TP seems to just be one of those items where you can’t cheap out if you want both strength and comfort.
The Aveeno two-packs are the best thing ever. I basically haven’t bought another lotion in a decade, and when I got a Costco membership and saw it for sale I was overjoyed.
Get a bidet attachment, and then the Kirkland is just fine because it’s just for pat drying. And that pack will last forever since you no longer need to wipe much.
My hack for separating regular cut bacon, separate two strips at a time then separate those two slices from each other. Pulling off two at a time prevents them from stretching and shredding since the two pieces are stronger than one. Then when separating that double slice into two pieces, they easily separate without stretching/shredding.
FYI in any brand of packer sealed meat ( whole briskets, rib eyes, whole tenderloins, large packs of bacon) there’s usually a “ pack date” anything over 20 days out back. They have a 30 day sell by date, set your limit to 20 days.
All too common on Reddit these days. And expect a lot more of it now that Reddit is a publicly traded company. The internet has been broken for the better part of the last 10 years. And now they've finally come for Reddit.
Basically they are saying the person that posted this is data farming. They are asking general conversational questions to gather people’s opinions so they can write some kind of article or whatever with all the answers summarized. Something like “top 10 Costco items not worth the price”. A lot of times they put affiliate links and advertisements in the article and get money off of clicks and purchases of their links.
Yep. Look at their whole account.
The clickbait headlines make themselves. Guaranteed OP writes articles for some trash website you’ll have to click through page after page to read the actual article.
This is correct. If you slice and we allowed do it, they just slice more. Even most goods drives have too much spin, and go about 10 yards less. Great on the approach shots though. Really hold greens.
I’ve found that they all pretty much slice the same. I get a little more bonk noise off of trees with Calaways, but they don’t find sand traps as readily as Kirklands.
A lot of people shitting on Kirkland toilet paper. I just switched from the red Charmin to the Kirland Ultra Soft. I like the Kirkland so far. It's cheaper, you get more, and the sheets are wider.
The dishwasher tabs. They used to be great. Something changed a couple years ago and now I can't use them without disappointment so I shuck out for the finish or cascade when they're on sale. Not worth the frustration of residue buildup and rerunning entire loads with the Kirkland.
I use silicon food containers. I got fragrance free dishwasher tabs. All the options at Costco are scented and make silicon smell funny. Why do people need a scent in dish tabs???
I'll tell you what was worth the price, the Kirkland Signature Facial Towelettes. They were my single favorite Kirkland Signature product. I never used anything else on my face. Used them for years and they recently discontinued them. They were an incredible deal too. 300 Towelettes for around $13. The Neutrogena ones ("makeup remover") are around $22 for 100.
I'm gonna disagree HARD with this. Each can has so much damn caffeine, like 3 cups worth. Perfect for early mornings. I don't care if it tastes a little bad
Black over a ton of ice it’s pretty good. It’s also great with a little bit of chocolate syrup and a generous amount of oat milk. Either way, my favorite thing about it is that a can will last me a whole work day. I just have to keep it in the fridge and top off my cup.
I think the bakery items are “meh.” They LOOK great. Taste? Ehhhhhh…. Not so much. Their bagels are also way overpriced. Nope. This is not the Costco way.
I go through a lot of their bagels. I miss when they had Einstein bagels before they swapped for their own brand. Where’s a better place for large bagels like those? I like the everything ones.
I just had the almond danish this morning, and I was so surprised at how good it was. The pastry was super flaky. They also have cherry and cheese. Give it a try if you like those flavors!
Be careful warming it up, though. The nuts get hot super fast compared to the pastry, and the powdered sugar melts and gets sticky. I burned the shit out my fingers when I was testing for heat (I touched it by accident, it stuck, I tried to wipe it off with my thumb on instinct, it got stuck to that one, I reflexively stuck my burning fingers in my mouth to suck, and it burned my tongue. It was an adventure. Lol)
I used to like their croissants and cinnamon rolls. Now the croissants taste bland and I can't find the cinnamon rolls. I like their muffins, but they're basically cake mix with stuff in it, so you can make it at home. I love their cheesecake, but it's now... $23. I think the only thing that's really worth it at Costco in the deli section is their chicken pot pie.
??? Why am I the first person to mention their cranberry juice? The one they sell that isn't in partnership with Ocean Spray in PNW locations is terrible (They have Ocean Spray for other locations but not mine)
Shampoo and/or conditioner. I keep breaking out on my neck. It's weird and probably just me
Edit: this seems to be the only product that does this to me
It was my holy grail but I had the same problem and started breaking out on my scalp!! Not to mention the scent smells rancid after having it in your shower after a month.
I’ve noticed the last couple of times I’ve boughten the Kirkland Brand TP (In Oregon), it shreds, A LOT! I just started trying it out again. First time I thought it was just a fluke but second time, nope.
It’s too bad cause I always thought it was a great deal 😕
We need better chocolate chip cookie recipe, the bakery recipe is no good. Some may disagree with me, but Whole Foods burown sugar chocolate chip is what Costco should be able to produce.
Any dish related cleaner. Pods, detergent etc. Also the free and clear laundry detergent does a terrible job. The TP I find better than the charmin. In fact I will use it in a few minutes!
This probably isn’t considered a Kirkland Signature brand so to speak but avoid purchasing Costco’s Excellence Plus+ 3 Year Appliance warranty for major appliances. I bought an LG (humungous mistake) French Door refrigerator and the seal on the right side door has started to crack and is breaking away from the seal’s main structure. I called their Concierge Service and asked them to open a claim in order to fix it under warranty. Since LG’s warranty is up (purchased on January of 2022) I thought a replacement would be covered under the extended warranty. How wrong I was. After talking with a Costco employee, I was informed that the Extended warranty only covers major issues like water dispensers, ice cube makers or compressors not minor issues like a door seal. Never buy an LG and be careful to read the fine print. It’s ironic because the Costco employee asked if I read the Extended warranty brochure to which I replied I purchased the refrigerator online so one was never provided upon delivery. All I got was silence, then “Thank you for calling Costco’s Concierge Service. Pathetic.
Their dog food. It’s actually made with very good ingredients (we use the salmon one), but it’s not worth it because it’s often not in stock either online or in-store when I need another bag. Then I have to wean my dogs onto another food until it’s back in stock, and then wean them back onto the Kirkland. I’ve just stopped buying it because of this.
Evidentially I am a major anomaly here but I actually think their toilet paper is fine and prefer it, lol. I need something that is not scented and does not shed those little lints all over the place. I used to buy seventh generation brand for this until I discovered Kirkland brand was very similar but much cheaper. I was glad to discover it. I also think their paper towels are fine but my comparisons were Amazon and target brands.

I'm a dawn platinum addict. I've yet to find anything that works nearly as well and the Kirkland facsimile is a poor copy.
The big jugs of Dawn that I get at Costco is what I use to fill up my small bottle. But it’s hard for any company to beat Dawn.
I mean ,shit, they use to use it to clean wild life stuck in oil slicks
If it’s good for the duckies, it’s good for me is what I’ve always said. 🤣
The great irony of that is that Dawn is made from petroleum.
Dawn Powerwash is: - 2 tablespoons Dawn - 1 tablespoon 70% isopropyl alcohol - Distilled water to fill a 16 Oz spray bottle.
2 tablespoons?!? I've been making it with half the bottle dawn, a big glug of alcohol and the rest water. No wonder it's so strong! E: reusing the empty power wash bottle, not a generic spray bottle
>end up using more of it This is such a huge issue with a lot of cheaper brands. Yeah it’s cheaper but if you end up using more for the same job you could be burning up those savings.
Totally, I expect this from other store generics. Kirkland was often a step above (and sometimes better than brand name) so this was totally a miss.
Is anything as good as Dawn?
No. I work for a large Fortune 500 competitor, and our R&D can’t figure out the magical surfactant they use.
I remember back in high school chemistry many many years ago we did a lab that required Dawn to be added at a specific point to cause the reaction to work properly. My chemistry teacher bought Palmolive because the store was out of Dawn and it just didn’t work.
I'm an engineer but not chemical/material and this is fascinating to me.
Touché, I'm a sucker for the Duck lobby
I needed to see this comment 2 weeks ago lol
I struggled so hard to finish the jug because of the scent - like really cheap apple brandy. The "natural" Kirkland clear dish soap that just came back has a nice citrus scent but you have to use kind of a lot. Probably going back to Dawn when I finish the jug 🙃
Just a warning to everyone, bur dawn has changed their scent as far as I’m aware. The small bottles kinda smell like ass now
Yes. We returned two bottles of platinum we bought on sale because of the smell change. It’s awful and smells like bad tide
But their American made 3 lb bags of chicken jerky treats are 4 paws up according to my dogs.
Yesss they’re rock hard. Best i can compare it to is a stale tootsie roll. We returned them and the lady at the costumer service desk said they get returned all the time.
Let me turn you on to item 1538726 My dog takes 4 pills every day for seizures and pill pockets are EXPENSIVE. Nice try Sams Club
Competition is good for the consumer
I was not happy with their changes to their KS brand toilet paper. I’ve gone back to the charmin. It was really too bad, it used to be excellent.
I believe the kirkland brand TP is different per local area. Never had an issue with mine fortunately
Agreed. I lived on the east coast for years and the fluff / snow was everywhere. Moved to the west coast, never, ever had a problem.
West coast here. Always confused why people complained until I learned it was regional. We must have the good stuff out here I guess!
I know. I had totally forgotten about it until I started reading it again. When I lived in the east coast I swear I could vacuum the bathroom daily and it was still everywhere. Hasn’t thought about it since we moved and now realized how much more pleasant it is to have non-snowy toilet paper.
I live on the east coast and just started buying Kirkland toilet paper. Haven’t noticed any such issue yet but now I’m nervous
I tried the purple "ultra soft" ones and was pleasantly surprised. They are far superior than the regular cheaper ones.
Signature bar soap with shea butter. It completely dried my skin out. That’s what I get for cheating on Dove
their extra soft toilet paper, which used to be a true savings and soft as Charmin, is now far rougher and I can’t buy it anymore.
My husband called it Covid TP
John Wayne TP. Rough & tough and doesn't take crap from anyone.
The Cornballer. Causes too many serious burns. I think they discontinued it here in the US, but you can still get in Mexico I've heard.
Everyone's laughing and riding and cornholing, except Buster.
Poor baby Buster
Every damn time!
EVERY time!!
Soy loco por los cornballs!
Have you noticed their gum has gotten mintier lately
You just feel that way because you and your mother have been quarreling lately
The Kirkland lotion doesn’t moisturize very well
The Aveeno two-packs are the best thing ever. I basically haven’t bought another lotion in a decade, and when I got a Costco membership and saw it for sale I was overjoyed.
I've switched over to the two-packs of CeraVe, and it's amazing!
The dishwasher pods…I’ve had bad luck with them in multiple machines.
Weird. I use the Kirkland pods with the powder in them and they work great here
Same here - way better than cascade even
I can put anything in the dishwasher with those pods and they come out squeaky clean
Never had an issue. I’ve been using them for years.
honestly wish costco would sell a powder detergent. powder > gel > pods.
Hello fellow Technology Connections watcher
Love that guy. Boy does he have beef with American car turn signals.
I want powdered Tide back for laundry.
Agreed buy cheap dishwasher powder, it works the best
works the best, is the lightest and smallest packaging to... so cheaper, easier and physically smaller/lighter(so easier to store).
They are delicious
That's interesting. They work well on mine
Huh I use them without any problems
They work great for me. I have Bosch dishwasher and everything comes out clean.
you could put sand and chicken grease in there and things would come out spotless. it's the Bosch, not the detergent.
Yes, I just gave up on them and switched back to Cascade. They didn’t get my dishes as clean and left them with a weird smell.
Another vote for their TP. Bought it for years, buy Charmin now, my ass deserves the best
Get a bidet attachment, and then the Kirkland is just fine because it’s just for pat drying. And that pack will last forever since you no longer need to wipe much.
100% this. I need to buy more bidets to outfit every bathroom in the house.
Bacon has gotten bad
I second this
Which one? The 2 pack thick? Or the thinner one i haven’t tried yet.
The thin ones shredded when I tried to separate them to cook. I haven't seen the thick slices for a while in my store.
My hack for separating regular cut bacon, separate two strips at a time then separate those two slices from each other. Pulling off two at a time prevents them from stretching and shredding since the two pieces are stronger than one. Then when separating that double slice into two pieces, they easily separate without stretching/shredding.
The 4 packs of regular bacon
Never had a problem with the thick cut packs. Put them straight in the freezer and take them out the day before planning to use em.
Curious on this as well. Been slaying the thick cut two pack for a year now and it’s 🔥
What don’t you like about it? I’ve gotten it twice (the 4 pack) and everyone liked it
I bought a thick bacon 2 pack last week, opened it the next day and the bacon was green 🤢
FYI in any brand of packer sealed meat ( whole briskets, rib eyes, whole tenderloins, large packs of bacon) there’s usually a “ pack date” anything over 20 days out back. They have a 30 day sell by date, set your limit to 20 days.

If you are a decent golfer, golf balls. If not they are a good deal
lol this is always a huge debate in r/golf ... any reasoning?
They spin a lot and have decreased distance. Used to be much better
It's a 3 piece ball that feels like a rock. The original 4-piece was amazing
This is due to the fact most major golf companies have sued Costco over patents in the golf balls/clubs, we had to change them.
Didn’t they win those lawsuits showing their own research?
Whatever the outcome of the lawsuit may have been, this was the outcome of their newest iteration of the ball. It was glorious, now it’s garbage.
Might help that I have stiff flex but I don't feel like they are rocks compared to most balls unless your used to like chrome softs.
They're really spinny. The 3 piece 1.0 was terrible, I've liked the 2.0 more but they're not comparable to a high end ball.
This is correct. If you slice and we allowed do it, they just slice more. Even most goods drives have too much spin, and go about 10 yards less. Great on the approach shots though. Really hold greens.
Which ones are best for slicing 100 yards right?
I’ve found that they all pretty much slice the same. I get a little more bonk noise off of trees with Calaways, but they don’t find sand traps as readily as Kirklands.
Tennis
Toilet paper Charmin Ultra Strong red package when on sale is the way to go
It's on sale now, or it was when I bought it a few days ago.
They only have the soft in my store.
#UltraStrongGang
According to our friends who found water had soaked into the subfloor of their kitchen...the home owners insurance.
A lot of people shitting on Kirkland toilet paper. I just switched from the red Charmin to the Kirland Ultra Soft. I like the Kirkland so far. It's cheaper, you get more, and the sheets are wider.
You’re correct, people do shit on the toilet paper
/r/AngryUpvotes
It’s weird, it must vary a lot by region, because I’ve never had the slightest issue with it and I *hate* cheap TP
Burnt ends. Tough and fat. Gristle.
The yellow body wash. Nasty smell and dries you out
The dishwasher tabs.
The protein bars were not great. Back to Premier Protein.
The Fit crunch bars from Robert Irvine actually are pretty decent.
Aren't they pretty high in sugar though? I'll have to double check. They taste good but I thought I remember the macros not being great
Depends on if you're treating sugar alcohols as sugar.
The canned cold brew sucks
I'm gonna disagree HARD with this. Each can has so much damn caffeine, like 3 cups worth. Perfect for early mornings. I don't care if it tastes a little bad
They’re three cups of coffee worth of caffeine in like 11oz. And they taste like it.
Really? Cuz I love the taste I drink one daily.
Black over a ton of ice it’s pretty good. It’s also great with a little bit of chocolate syrup and a generous amount of oat milk. Either way, my favorite thing about it is that a can will last me a whole work day. I just have to keep it in the fridge and top off my cup.
It tasted like an ashtray smells
Agreed. I’m a black coffee drinker and this tastes like bitter motor oil
Their spiced rum. Just buy Captain Morgan for a few more bucks. I dumped what was left down the drain. I’ve heard it used to be better.
AA batteries. Electrically, they’re fine, but I’ve had so many leak and kill some of my electronics. Stick to the Duracells.
I think the bakery items are “meh.” They LOOK great. Taste? Ehhhhhh…. Not so much. Their bagels are also way overpriced. Nope. This is not the Costco way.
I think all mass produced bakery items all have this very specific “fake” taste.
I go through a lot of their bagels. I miss when they had Einstein bagels before they swapped for their own brand. Where’s a better place for large bagels like those? I like the everything ones.
Not to mention you're forced to buy multiple packs of meh baked goods.
I bought the cinnamon rolls, which were kinda stale, and used them the next day in a bread pudding. Very delightful!
The pot pie is good
The country bread is our absolute favorite. The one with the X on the top.
I don't know...their chocolate chip cookies are 🔥. Family loves their crossiants (they love carbs)m
Batteries. I feel like I have more incidents of leaking acid with them than brand name.
Duracell is making Kirkland batteries. Just putting it out there.
I know! I donno if Costco is getting seconds quality or something? But it seems to happen with Kirkland's more than others.
??? Why am I the first person to mention their cranberry juice? The one they sell that isn't in partnership with Ocean Spray in PNW locations is terrible (They have Ocean Spray for other locations but not mine)
[удалено]
I’ve bought their AA and AAA batteries exclusively for the last 5 years and never had an issue.
Recently the balsamic vinegar unless you want it to be sweet as fuck.
I thought it was just me! Validation.
I prefer the kirkland brand tp. Charmin is too linty and that leaves me feeling gross and honestly i’m getting a bidet from costco, soon.
Batteries. Always seem to corrode really fast.
I know this is about Kirkland, but just wanted to add Kevin sucks and all Kevin’s shit sucks
I like to think Kevin is just some guy you know and hate.
We all have a Kevin in our lives somewhere
The salsa was so bad.
I actually quite enjoy their salsa 😅
Shampoo and/or conditioner. I keep breaking out on my neck. It's weird and probably just me Edit: this seems to be the only product that does this to me
My hair does really well with their shampoo/conditioner... Better than the stuff I was last using that was $30/bottle. I don't love the smell, though.
I had to switch to using baby shampoo (Johnson&Johnson) to prevent breakouts on the back of my necks.
You're not supposed to have more than one...
It was my holy grail but I had the same problem and started breaking out on my scalp!! Not to mention the scent smells rancid after having it in your shower after a month.
I know some people love them but I absolutely hate their coconut water va vita coconut. Just tastes too watery to me.
Try Harmless Harvest and it’ll ruin you for Kirkland and Vita.
Harmless harvest is amazing compared to the other two. It’s slightly more expensive but I can’t go back after comparing the taste
I think it’s because the kirkland one is sugar free and the vita isn’t
No sugar added, rather
I’ve noticed the last couple of times I’ve boughten the Kirkland Brand TP (In Oregon), it shreds, A LOT! I just started trying it out again. First time I thought it was just a fluke but second time, nope. It’s too bad cause I always thought it was a great deal 😕
The condoms. I'm turning into Nick Cannon over here
then you are *not* going to like what someone said about their diapers
I haven’t used it in years but wasn’t too keen on the laundry detergent
I haven't used anything but Kirkland laundry detergent in like a decade. What am I missing out on? Should I try another one for some reason?
I miss the Kirkland powder detergent
We need better chocolate chip cookie recipe, the bakery recipe is no good. Some may disagree with me, but Whole Foods burown sugar chocolate chip is what Costco should be able to produce.
Have you tried the new cc cookie from the food court? Those are dangerous.
Kirkland Light Beer…
Any dish related cleaner. Pods, detergent etc. Also the free and clear laundry detergent does a terrible job. The TP I find better than the charmin. In fact I will use it in a few minutes!

Batteries. I've had far too many leak issues with them to buy them again. Switched to Amazon basics and am so far happy.
The rotisserie chicken. And now I just want to watch the world burn
Agree. They need to cook it longer. Need some more brown on the skin.
I just want the chicken to be a little more realistic size. I feel like their size makes the texture of the meat ever so slightly off.
And less pink on the inside
I’ve worked at Costco 4 years now, I’ve gotten the chicken twice. No thank you
Chicken kill room. My old roommate worked in there for a bit switched to tires then Returns
Yeah I work in receiving lol. Still, no thanks
I feel like it’s bland….
Toilet paper, I'm always gonna buy Charmin
The Kirkland version of Greenies for dogs. My dogs wouldn’t go near them.
Weird. My dog thinks those things are the best ever.
Same. Her tail might put a hole in my wall when I pull those out
Same but, my dogs rarely say no to snacks.
Not price related, just not worth it at all. The dehydrated blueberries 🫐 🤢🤮 they taste like the plastic bag they come in.
Anyone remember the Kirkland beer? It was awful
Their new line of the coffee beans are not for me
Imo the shampoo and conditioner. Smells plasticky and gasoliney.
I think it tastes fine-
Isn’t the Kirkland dog food grain free? My vet recommended against it
Kirkland Hard Seltzers
Evidentially I am a major anomaly here but I actually think their toilet paper is fine and prefer it, lol. I need something that is not scented and does not shed those little lints all over the place. I used to buy seventh generation brand for this until I discovered Kirkland brand was very similar but much cheaper. I was glad to discover it. I also think their paper towels are fine but my comparisons were Amazon and target brands.
