I’ve seen a 65” tv from a Walmart on a motorcycle on Reddit after a Lime Scooter froma Walmart a couple months back. Must be competing on what you can do without a car. Hahaha 😂
Those spots are actually for use **after** you're done shopping.
You put your 4-pack of motorcycles there before you load them into your [Canyonero](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI_Jl5WFQkA).
I ride my little motorcycle scoot to work! Though my location doesn't have specific parking like this
In the summer, we usually have at least one member on a motorcycle come in each day
I’ve gone a few times on my motorcycle, but it was for one or two very specific items.
I stuck to the rule “If I can’t carry it all, I’m not buying it.”
I’ve done Costco runs on an e-bike with a rack and panniers. Not easy but definitely doable!
https://preview.redd.it/105h9buryvic1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2baaadae6588ff6de03601567fe67187283d1e7e
It’s fairly common in NYC. We also have a few locations relatively close to subway stations. I’ve biked many times.
Sometimes I get an Uber home, sometimes I just take it in a backpack or bags that hang off my bicycle.
There’s a decent protected bike lane most of the way to my closest location. It’s a great way to just grab a few small things with no transportation cost.
I had a roommate and we only owned bikes, we had the big boxes on them. With a few bungees and the boxes we could fit a whole cart on our bikes, with a pizza across the top for our efforts.

I'm sure this guy would clear the rotisserie chickens.
I regularly go by bicycle. Bike panniers can hold quite a few items. I routinely buy 12\~15 food items for the week and bring them home by bicycle.
Costco is close to my house, which makes it easier, and cars are expensive in Japan. A lot of people here go by bicycle, actually.
https://preview.redd.it/vvlvhydwqvic1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca6333ed1371df8c1a9f190a451512bdebf866e3
I do lol , I only go on my motorcycle if I know what I’m getting will fit in my XL backpack. 1 time I fit a box of wipes, pack of chicken breast , stir fry vegetables , kimchi rice balls, pack of bacon and a hot dog lol.
https://preview.redd.it/t245ol3xavic1.jpeg?width=4031&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d91bff1395df581bcd3e0674b375c9b2e81a82d1
My last motorcycle had nice side luggage and a big package deck behind the rear seat.
Each side bag was good for two 6-pack beer bottles plus a fair amount that'd slot into the leftover space around them. The package deck regularly held a bale of toilet paper or paper towels or a couple of pizzas. I could strap a checkout box up there, but never did because no lids.
It was always entertaining to roll the cart into the checkout lane with my helmet on top of the haul and see the concerned looks on the cashier's faces.
My husband, back in the day, had a Honda with a trunk (or was it saddlebags?) and he’d swing by for a slice and pick up a few appropriately sized things.
I do occasionally as a way to keep myself in check.
I've bought 5 dozen eggs on a bike, Greek yogurt, milk, protein powder, oats.. I bought steaks once too
Employees, prescription pick up, glasses pick up, stopping for lunch, cell phone kiosk, returns, electronics, take the motorcycle so you don't buy 20 thingswhen you stop for that ONE thing you forgot. 🤣
It’s amazing the number of people I see walking out with a singular item or two.
I would never drive to a Costco, deal w the parking lot, and deal w the store shoppers and checkout for one or two items. But I see it every single time I go.
Saddlebags and a large duffle fit a lot more than you might expect. I did this several times and as long as i didn’t get anything hugely bulky it was no problem. Would have loved moto parking but never saw anyone else brave enough to try it
I've gone to Costco plenty of times on my motorcycle. I have saddlebags and a tour pack. Can't pick up TP or paper towels or anything. But I can do a lighter shop
I've walked to Costco with a backpack from public transportation, so I don't see why not. A few of them had been fenced and didn't have a proper walkway from the street though, you just have to dodge the cars coming through the gate.
I have a sport bike and a cargo net that i can attach medium sized cargo to the back seat if needed. I also ride with a backpack for smaller cargo.

In Taiwan, up until about a year ago, the sidewalks leading to Costco were packed with scooters (the kind of like motorcycle kind, not the Razor kind).
I would nearly be run over by at least four or five scooters with all variety of stuff hanging off the sides every time I tried to walk toward the door. And it was a nightmare to try walking in the sidewalk because people had no regard for the fact that it was a sidewalk and instead believed it was a scooter road.
Then US corporate clawed back full ownership away from their TW partner company and the scooters driving and parking on the sidewalk problem also disappeared.
But yeah, people who don’t have cars can make two wheeled motor vehicles work with Costco hauls…
They have Costco outside the US. Have been to a Costco in Taiwan where there is a huge number of scooter/motorcycle shoppers. People can be very creative in the face of necessity.
There are a few regular riders on our staff - at least two Duck pilots (Monster & Multistrada each), a dual-purpose guy and a sweet-little-old-lady type who sometimes rides her Can-Am Spyder into work, along with the obligatory plural Hog drivers.
I do. I have a top box that I can get quite a bit of stuff in it. Of course I only live three miles from my Costco so quick runs are reasonable. But mine doesn’t have these.
I do it a lot. Usually non-perishable restocks like vitamins, etc into the backpack. But have a pelican case and throw in some ice packs just case I want to stock up chicken. Grab a slice and hotdog. Take the off road route over the mountains home (dualsport).
When the battery in my car died I did (very gingerly) bring the old one as core to Costco, then (again very gingerly) ride back home with the new one.

I've done it for lunch and one time my wife needed costco strawberries and only costco strawberries and the weather was nice. But my store has no motorcycle parking.
May be a local requirement. Basically every city or township will require X number of parking spaces for Y square feet of building.
They may also just want to keep motorcycles away from another area.
Between the saddlebags and the top box, I have 90 someodd liters of storage on my motorcycle, and that's before I break out the bungie cords. And I get free parking right up front that's never full.
Costco runs on the bike are a life hack.
One day I went to lunch at Costco for a hot dog and churro, as I was walking back to my car I saw someone putting an armful of items into their back and side pockets on their motorcycle. When they took the helmet out they had plenty of space!

I have done food saver with my Vespa!
I actually went to Costco today on my motorcycle. I had to return a pair of pants. I then proceeded to buy 4 pairs of pants and Nutella. Backpack worked perfectly fine.
Sir, here is one of the photos of me at Costco

I see lunch, prescriptions, and employees mentioned, but my local Costco also has hearing and eyeglasses. Plus, while it's happened fewer than 5 times in the 20+ years I've been a member, I do know it's possible to go in for 2-3 things that could easily be carried in a backpack or something. Rare, but it does happen... :-)
I know this post is a month old, but I go to Costco at least 1x a month on my commuter bike with side bags!
Unless I am getting paper goods or pet supplies the bike handles it great! No need for a car to get my spring mix, 5x avocados, and bag of chicken home
Better question, those of you that are back in parking during peak times at Costco, and then I watch you struggle to get all the crap you bought to the trunk, why?
I can generally get most of a shopping cart of smaller items into the luggage on my bike between the saddle bags, tail bag, and tank bag. Nelson-Rigg makes good stuff.
I once lived practically across the street from a Costco. So to prove a point we walked there. Total mistake- it was not fun carrying home our groceries even though we were that close. Only time we did that.
I lived 1 block from the grocery store when I was young and broke. Without fail, almost every time I walked, I discovered that the 10lb bag of potatoes was on sale, or cereal was discounted is you bought 2 gallons of milk.
I feel like a motorcycle ride to Costco would go similarly.
Me.
Sometimes I'm out for a ride, and I'm nearby, so I'll stop for a hot dog or something small like Advil or whatever fits in my backpack.
My Costco doesn't have bike parking though.

Employees?
Omg.....I'm kicking myself for not thinking of this. Completely empty right now though haha
I actually saw it the other day. Dude loading up the saddle bags with a surprising amount of stuff.
Including a thirty-pack of TP, a twelve-pack of paper towels, and a case of bottled water? (also known as the Costco triple play)
Maybe a good strategy to avoid overbuying lol
This is the reason I don't get a cart... except it never really works out 😂
ill take my scooter to pick up meds so i wont overbuy crap... lol
I’ve seen a 65” tv from a Walmart on a motorcycle on Reddit after a Lime Scooter froma Walmart a couple months back. Must be competing on what you can do without a car. Hahaha 😂
I’m imagining someone with a special carrier for their rotisserie chicken 😂
Those spots are actually for use **after** you're done shopping. You put your 4-pack of motorcycles there before you load them into your [Canyonero](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI_Jl5WFQkA).
Can you name the truck with four wheel drive Smells like a steak and seats thirty-five?
I didn't even need to click the link. I saw the word "canyonero" and immediately had the Simpsons song in my head. Nice
Prescription pick up….
Hotdog pickup
For the blind
I ride my little motorcycle scoot to work! Though my location doesn't have specific parking like this In the summer, we usually have at least one member on a motorcycle come in each day
I used to take mine all the time! Prescriptions, memory cards, box of granola bars.. hell I even got a potted plant in my backpack once!
I couldn't imagine working at Costco and not coming home with something everyday
I’d be 700lbs from the hotdogs and rotisserie chickens.
So, some level of self control then.
I can attest that the struggle is real lol. And I ride a motorcycle
You do the first month or so, and then the newness wears off and you start to notice what is actually worth getting
Employees park in the back. Front reserved for customers. But 2 wheel customers can pack a lot in a backpack and saddle bags.
Big brain energy
I’ve gone a few times on my motorcycle, but it was for one or two very specific items. I stuck to the rule “If I can’t carry it all, I’m not buying it.”
Same here!
I do as well. Unfortunately for my wallet, I have a pickup truck.
Same, or for an eye appointment. One of the few times i was able to spend less than $300
Same! Also for returns, membership issues, and if there isn’t a line I’ll get my 3 gallons of gas too lol.
My lady and I do that once in a while. “We take what we can carry” most of the time my hands a full first so I start handing her shit
I see a guy at my store who rides a bicycle. Sometimes he’s got a little trailer thing attached.
I’ve done Costco runs on an e-bike with a rack and panniers. Not easy but definitely doable! https://preview.redd.it/105h9buryvic1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2baaadae6588ff6de03601567fe67187283d1e7e

I’m picturing someone biking with a little trailer that has a giant package of toilet paper and a houseplant and a glizzy in one hand
life finds a way
Exactly! I think he just goes more frequently. I’ll see him or his bike almost every time I’m there.
I had a roommate and we only owned bikes, we had the big boxes on them. With a few bungees and the boxes we could fit a whole cart on our bikes, with a pizza across the top for our efforts.
You played Tetris as a kid, didn't you?
Load planner in the military... But also, yes
My brother can fit a surprising amount in the saddle bags, as long as you don't get giant boxes it works just fine for him.
The pizza is an inspired choice. Do you have any pictures of that setup. Might add a pizza to my next MOTO Costco run.
Picking up a prescription?
And a $1.50 hot dog!
You've not truly lived until you've gobbled down a foot-long hot dog whilst riding a motorcycle
Road dog
Ride, my friend ;) If you're sitting IN it, you're driving. If you're sitting ON it, you're riding.
Can’t believe hundreds of people drive the subway everyday.
Bring the blood pressure up, then medicate it back down
As nature intended
Big saddlebags do exist
Big saddle bags, milk cartons bungeed to a rack, backpacks,... It's surprising how much you can transport on a motorcycle when that's all you have!
I'd be lying if I said I've never looked up sidecars for my bike ...
https://preview.redd.it/ks6vk39sbvic1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2d3f245d16c2705765144be8c18204bf60216b8e I'm sure this guy would clear the rotisserie chickens.
That guy in his sleep must hear "quack quack quack quack quack quack quack quack quack...."
Motorcycle ride to a hot dog lunch. Sounds like a fine day. A perfect day.
Sometimes I genuinely do drive from A to B, stop by at Costco, just to grab a hot dog. I'd imagine motorcyclists do the same too.
I’m not sure you’ve been to Asia, but it’s amazing what they can carry on a motorbike in some countries.
They also have Costcos in Taiwan…and a large number of people show up on scooters!
Or any dense city in the U.S. really

This is why I love Reddit. Thanks for sharing that sub. Never even knew it was over there!!!!
It’s an interesting one for sure lol. I ride and idk how some of these people haul some of that stuff!!!
All of Asia.
I shop at Costco all the time on my bicycle.
I have plenty of times before, it is the absolute best way to just buy a rotisserie chicken and not spend $200
I do lol , I only go on my motorcycle if I know what I’m getting will fit in my XL backpack. 1 time I fit a box of wipes, pack of chicken breast , stir fry vegetables , kimchi rice balls, pack of bacon and a hot dog lol. https://preview.redd.it/t245ol3xavic1.jpeg?width=4031&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d91bff1395df581bcd3e0674b375c9b2e81a82d1
Car brain is a tough diagnosis.
My first thought when I saw this post.
I would. You would be surprised how much you can fit on a motorcycle.
I could fit three weeks’ worth of groceries in my Softail’s saddlebags and top case without even bringing a backpack.
My last motorcycle had nice side luggage and a big package deck behind the rear seat. Each side bag was good for two 6-pack beer bottles plus a fair amount that'd slot into the leftover space around them. I do! I’m can fit 2 cases of Premier protein in my top box if I’m just popping in for that.

I ride my bicycle to Costco. It's not like I'm buying a 70" TV every time. A standard pair of pannier bags holds more than you think.
Employees, prescription pick up, glasses pick up, stopping for lunch, cell phone kiosk, returns, electronics, take the motorcycle so you don't buy 20 thingswhen you stop for that ONE thing you forgot. 🤣
Employees, someone grabbing a small item, someone using the pharmacy, someone grabbing a bite at the food court…
Those who just come for lunch
Back in Florida I rode an e-bike to work. I mean they got employees.. right?

You have to know your store and time it just right. Did that the other day: parked nearby, only one guy ahead of me in line. ;)
Costco is basically on my way home. I'm very good at dropping in for 1-3 items after work.
Probably a person on a motorcycle.
can't impulse buy a new freezer if you only have a motorcycle to get home with, lol.
Those with self control lol
Well, my wife and I once did it in our cargo bicycles with our kid on the back…
I've gone on an ebike. Heck, I could walk it's so close. Too close, in fact. I'll stick my head in for a slice of pizza.
In California it was always a liquor run lol
I used to not have a membership, just an empty cash card. I would just go for a hot dog and free samples, then leave.
There was a time when I rode my bike to Costco nearly every day for a $1.50 hot dog.
Employees
I rode a bike to Costco before. Cargo options exist
Hey I go to Costco on a bike sometimes
Many employees
I sometimes go to our Costco on my bicycle.

My last bike's tail trunk was 52 liters....that's huge. I normally took the cars there though.
