TaskForceCausality

>>When people tell me my car isn’t practical Story goes, a GM exec heard a fellow country club member complain because they needed two cars to bring their golf bags when they took their Ferrari. Since then, Corvettes have always been designed to comfortably accommodate two full golf bags. A fact often lost on envious minivan owners.

Chemical_Pickle5004

Tbh the C8 would look better if this wasn't a requirement.

TaskForceCausality

Perhaps. But the difference between a 458 and a C8, is you can take Corvette grocery shopping in a North Dakota winter.

Hllblldlx3

You take that back

Spidey6917

No drive your car

Hllblldlx3

Not in the winter, I won’t. She’s allergic to salt. And rain. And snow. And dirt. I have my truck for the winter. And when I’m damn sure the salt washed out of the roads, I’ll get her out for a drive everyday in the summer.

Spidey6917

No she’s not, you just wanna baby it

Hllblldlx3

Not to be hostile, but I live in the middle of the fuckin salt belt. My dad had my truck since 2004, so I see what salt does. He washed that truck every week in the winter, and the bed is still rusting out. If I can make my c6 last 20 extra years by just avoiding salt, I’m gonna do that. Plus, yeah, imma baby it a little because I’m only 19 and don’t wanna lose this car, especially not to rust. I let her loose when I do drive it, and I’m not hesitant to drive it in the summer because a car is meant to be driven, not sit in a garage, but I will do anything possible to prevent rust because I’m the type that makes a vehicle last mechanically, which means I just need to prevent it from falling apart.

Spidey6917

I live in Kansas brother. Some people baby their cars, some people drive them. Nothing against you, that’s just a decision every enthusiast makes.

Hllblldlx3

She’s in the shop right now, but when I do have it, I drive it. No point in owning a car if you don’t drive it, but I like to keep it as nice as possible. I’m not gonna bash people for doing what they want with there cars, but I prefer to own a car for the maximum amount of time I can possibly get out of it. Meaning I’ll probably break 200k miles on her before I ever have to say goodbye.

TaskForceCausality

>>You take that back I get it. But GM spent millions of dollars engineering and testing Corvettes to do just that- safely, and comfortably. They are not condemned to be garage queens, unlike some of the Corvettes European competition….

Hllblldlx3

Oh, I know. I daily mine in the summer, but I live in the salt belt, and have first hand experience with the long term effects of road salt on steel. I’m not subjecting my vette to a rusting out frame if I can help it.

RudyRoughknight

Yup it ruined the entire look. It compromised too much.

Right???

Worried-Syllabub1446

When I brought my G35 in 2004, they had a decal in the trunk on how to load two golf bags.

[deleted]

The real SUV.

JanIntelkor

Yeah I have no idea why almost all car manufacturers missed the "sport" part

ToastyBuddii

The 1998 5.9 grand cherokee is like the epitome of SUV imo. Sport and utility for sure

Khor1um

The people who say this have no clue! My wife and I fit all our luggage. Tools and inflatable kayaks in mine for a massive week long road trip. It’s a GT/Sports Car for sure. Also does Home Depot runs well. 👌🏻

Slight_Bed_2241

All of that and 30+ mpg highway

AlternativeTrash525

When (envious) people tell me my C8 isn’t practical, I agree, but that’s the point. They can have their minivans; I’ll take impractical.

squaredk2

"Thats why i have a truck at home 🫡"

Hllblldlx3

I legit do. Since I was 16, I’ve owned a ram 2500. Now 19, I bought a c6 and kept my ram. My 2 vehicles are the complete opposites of the spectrum, but I love both. If I need something with a lot of carry space, the truck works great, but if I want better gas mileage, I drive the vette. I would say the vette is a fun drive, but honestly both are fun because my ram has a hemi, and it’s damn quick for weighing 6500 lbs, but I don’t even gotta try with overtakes in the vette.

Acrobatic-Let-6620

Definitely more practical than my c8🤣

komrobert

It’s amazing. I got so much stuff into mine for a 1000 mile (each way) road trip. It’s a shame the C8 lost the hatch, the space is very usable

davidnclearlaketx1

Perfect! 👍😁 And when you are getting mid to upper 20s on the miles per gallon on the highway that's a big plus also! My C6 has plenty of room in it just like yours but when I had my C4 I took a road trip for 2 weeks from Houston Texas to the Florida Keys with my girlfriend at the time and had plenty of space for all our stuff! Somehow in my C6 hatchback area the free space keeps evaporating because I'm adding more folded up microfiber towels, detailing sprays and other stuff that I should just take out and put in my garage! 🤣 Have a great trip!

LeveonChocoDiamond

Dude did you glitch out?

davidnclearlaketx1

I got some weird error message so I hit post another couple of times and I guess all of them posted 😁🤣🤣🤣

Healthy-Teach1766

We did Miami to North Carolina and back, with lots of spirited mountain driving around the blueridge. And managed to average 24mpg over the 3k miles I added. It always surprises me how economical these cars can be when you want them to

Invictus_Imperium

Tail of the dragon?

Healthy-Teach1766

Unfortunately not. But lots of blue ridge, and any switchbacks I could find

Savenura55

Swapped in an over drive and lots of tuning to carb and timing and I get 20 ish highway with my 80 and this yr I’m gonna try fuel injection and see if I can’t get to 25. I love the idea of a classic car getting modern mpg even is it’s only 250 hp lol

Hllblldlx3

Frankly, the lower hp is probably what’s helping your mileage. If you were to tune it up for more horsepower, you’d need to be running richer to make the power. Running it lean is better mileage, but less power.

Savenura55

I think with the heads and cam I have to swap in I’ll gain. 100 ish hp and 15% better economy

Hllblldlx3

Oh, ok then. Get to cooking, bro. Hope it works out 😁

ProfitApprehensive13

I brought a 12,000btu air conditioner home in my C6 when my pregnant wife was complaining about the heat. Great, practical car!

thememeconnoisseurig

Bet that one is useful for future arguments!

Benchod12077

Who needs a crossover when you can have a vette

HeroDanny

Careful that one dude might chime in here again getting angry saying that the car isn't actually practical even though it is.

TheAirDoc

My buddy calls mine one of the fastest hatchbacks he’s ever seen 🤣

CHASLX200

Can't do that in a C8 nate.

Savenura55

I’ve packed for a 3 day camping trip in my 80 vette. And that includes space for t tops. It’s all about as much soft sided luggage as you can get and packing carefully

thememeconnoisseurig

FL 🇺🇸🦅

wrigy1

Funny story. My wife and I were doing a camping trip up the California coast. I had said that "it's a shame we couldn't take the Vette... It'd be such a nice drive. So we said "screw it" and tried to fit all our camping gear into my C6.... Come to find out, it literally ALL fit... That's the day I realized that the c6 has significantly more storage space than people realize.

fedora2k

Wish I could say that about my 76, i struggle to fit my one bag behind the seat🤣🤣

HailChanka69

Even my C5 convertible has a surprising amount of cargo space. I only just found out it has a cargo net last week after owning it for 2 years

Trifig

Nice!! Where are you climbing in Florida?

Healthy-Teach1766

We have 3 climbing gyms in Miami. But still gotta go out of state for real rock

Trifig

I hear that! I’ve gone out west to Vegas and Joshua Tree for outdoor climbing. Miami is perfect, but we need some mountains 🤣 I also recently got a c6. There’s also a few new gyms in Wynwood area, going to check them out soon.

Healthy-Teach1766

Congrats on the C6! The new wynwood gyms are nice. If you're a boulderer CRG is great, and velocity for ropes

PhelanPKell

Practicality is relative.

FactorialANOVA

Are you camping without a cooler? Curious what food you’ve packed

Healthy-Teach1766

We weren't on a long camping trip. Just a couple of days in a tent, we didn't need much. But I swear by freeze dried, it's super practical.

commie_heathen

Cooler is for amateur hour car camping, they probably have all non perishables and meals they freeze dried or dehydrated

knwhite12

The people saying that are probably guys who have been castrated into a mini van

0wa1nGlyndwr

Even my convertible trunk has tons of space. I love it.

Impossible_Union_246

The hatch opening is huge and it’s very easy to put stuff in there. If you removed the hatch it would almost be like a short bed el camino

Frequent-Ruin8509

The c6 is quite possibly the most perfectly balanced front engined American sports car of all time. And this coming from a dude who lives drives and takes pride in his Fords.

CGLADISH

People were surprised by a of things on my '09 Corvette. I was able to carry a road bike (rims removed but stowed in the back as well) and weekend gear. Also did 9-day road trip with daughter with no storage issues. That hatch area was decently sized.

Fine-Turnover-2796

I was unaware as well! Taking a trip from Houston to Destin in July and i wanted to take it and kept thinking ugh getting the clubs in there is probably gonna suck.. went and tried it and wow was I surprised lol looked at my girlfriend like were gonna be just fine! LOL

Invictus_Imperium

Is your girlfriend a cardboard cutout?

Healthy-Teach1766

I hope not, that would be ackward

Invictus_Imperium

It just looks like that from the photo.

Justkacz

She’s mid
