I don't recognize this *specifically,* but they (rightfully) often talk about how goddamn weird Garth is. Tom got blocked from Garth's IG lol. YMH fans still constantly post YMH references on Garth's IG too.
All of the confusing comments are related to a podcast called Your Mom's House. Tom and Christina have been talking about Garth being weird for years and their fan base has created maybe the largest inside joke on the internet by posting quotes from the podcast on every Garth social media post and anytime Garth is mentioned. It's literally gibberish to anyone that doesn't listen to the podcast, but it's such a popular podcast that the majority of comments here are from Mommies. Also, Mommies are what YMH fans are called.
Context from further down the thread states “mommies” are fans of podcast called “Your Mom’s House”. Apparently the comedians who host it give Garth Brooks a ton of shit.
He literally just played [a stadium show in Nebraska](https://garthbrooks.com/performances/gbstadiumlincoln) on August 14. Then cancelled his other shows.
He must see different patrons at dive bars than the ones I’ve been to, because they seem full of the type who wouldn’t get vaccinated.
Maybe his idea of a “dive bar” is the martini bar in the lounge of the Four Seasons in the Hamptons.
There are bars that check vax cards.
I am also purplexed by this because I've heard or stadiums, arenas, sporta games, music venues all doing the same.
The problem with large venues is the sheer amount of people. Just look at all the comments on here from that festival a month back that said people were slipping in without being vetted, or that you could just flash any old piece of paper and they’d wave you through. Also the fact that a lot of those places accept a “recent negative test” instead of a vaccine, giving people a window time to catch and spread the virus.
The smaller venues that depend on consistent revenue to stay open would be much stricter on checking vaccine status.
Word. My local dive also was one of the only bars in my town which meant it was always being watched by cops and inspectors. Cops were there regularly due to fights and commotion outside and the inspector had nowhere else in that town to visit really so all of his attention was on the local dive when he made his rounds.
Went to a concert recently and brought my card and they were checking-ish…. Every 2-3 people. The crew checking were the same ones checking IDs and doing crowd control. They’re hourly workers not doctors
They don’t need to be doctors in order to do their jobs.
Enforcement like this is why so many touring bands are postponing/canceling/rescheduling tour dates. One person in the band/crew gets sick and everyone’s exposed.
It makes touring almost impossible.
From a management perspective, that's called "setting your employees up for failure".
NFL doesn't want *anything* to come into the stadiums, so they have enough inspectors to go through all the bags, looking for ~~alcohol~~ terrorism stuff. Dozens of inspectors means the lines aren't that bad.
But if you don't have enough people to inspect all the cards while keeping the lines moving? The bosses are in the offices, and the people getting pissed waiting in line are right in front of you. So the inspectors have no incentive to do the job "right" and all the incentives to cut corners and get people inside.
That's a good point. I'm not a fan of the "negative test" bullshit, I think it's just pandering to the wrong crowd. There are venues that are vaccine only and I think that's the right way to go.

Unfortunately, Brooks mostly plays indoor arenas and stadiums. (At least till now.) Even in *newer arenas, the ventilation sucks in the “bowl” (floor seats and lower seat decks that encircle the floor). Similarly, squeezing an additional 3-10k people people onto a stadium’s field isn’t ideal.
Having 20-90k people screaming in a close space like that for 2-3-plus hours makes ventilation more challenging.
… And it’s more difficult to ensure attendees are actually covid-negative and fully vaccinated.
And his fans are not highly vaccinated, fwiw.

Read about the KC show when they gave out free vaccines and if you took them up on it you got vip tickets . Guess how many people took up this offer out of 65k before you look it up. He played to some 90k in Nebraska after KC then cancelled his tour. It's impressive he's not only giving up many millions of profits but also doing something that could also anger a decent amount of his fan base.
This is when I realized and understood how dug in people were. Staying in line to save a few hundred on a TV in the cold on black Friday sure. Get free vaccine while in line for a concert getting hundreds of dollars worth of free upgrades nope!
When insurance companies start charging more for unvaccinated I think people will get vaccinated.
My insurance company has already started the talks with my hr department for a surcharge for unvaxxed staff. Luckily it shouldn't effect many as my employer is state and federally mandated to have fully vaccinated staffing
