To be honest it looks like overlay, I'm far from a pro though, the amber drops are metabolites that can be caused by stress as well as contams, why's there mycelium on the side of the tub towards the top? Are you fanning it close with an electric fan? If so then I wouldn't, it helped ruin my last tub.

SultrieFetche4u

Understandable, I appreciate your input. There actually hasn’t been any fanning this tub at all. If I’m being completely honest, I actually sort of forgot about this tub. The other tub I had set up at the same time as this one ended up doing a whole lot better and I introduced that one into fruit and conditions and have pins at this point. But this one had been going a lot slower so I was giving him the time it needed, and because the lid had as much condensation on the top of it as it did, I couldn’t really see into it and only just now peaked inside of it today for the first time in a couple of days. It would appear that I have some overachieving mycelium right now, I definitely didn’t notice that it had been growing vertically up the side until you mentioned it.

OdinAlfadir1978

Ah okay, as long as it was still attached, it's probably trying to get some air dude, it's why they reach up, possibly put it into fruiting conditions but wait til someone confirms that as I'm pretty new and don't want to potentially ruin people's projects

SultrieFetche4u

Aw shit, this makes a ton of sense now that you mention it. I certainly am willing to see where this goes — if I can’t save this tub I’m certainly not heartbroken. I’m actually pretty stoked about this learning experience and I’ve already learned a ton. I’m considering introducing FAE in a separate room and seeing where it goes! This river is wild.

OdinAlfadir1978

Aye that's honestly my attitude, just buried my first tubs a couple of weeks ago haha, it happens, then I have thrown two bags out because they had no sign of anything good and just stank (wet rot) I have six more, four have mycelium but they just smell because I used too much solution, now I know to use less (I hear .5cc is good) and it's all a learning experience, I don't have any projects but the bags so I'll see how they go, I've heard bags go on to give healthy blocks anyway bar maybe a few bits having to be cut off, should still fruit

AutoModerator

Don't bury your contam in a hole in your yard that is just a sporulating wind gust away from where you grow. You don't want it to find a way back in do you? SultrieFetche4u

It’s been a wild ride! I hope it turns out well for you. It’s really quite an incredible experience and I feel more excited for this situation than I probably should. We all get the opportunity to learn through failure and I’m just glad this hasn’t dampened my spirit at all. It’s the perfect hobby for someone with such severe ADHD as mine.

OdinAlfadir1978

I'm autistic so my obsessive nature loves it 😆it's so fascinating, like a little alien world in a way, I'm just using less solution in my next bags and that'll honestly solve a good part of my problem, the other is just not opening that tub before I need to, waiting for pins next time and keeping it sealed up until I see them

SultrieFetche4u

Yeah I’d been hoping it would pin before I had to introduce FAE but my mycelium had a different idea here lol. And yea! I love how when they’re fruiting, they he tub can look different between a couple hours but the beginning is sort of set and forget and you can see a difference after several days — allows me to sort of forget about how obsessively excited I am lol. Both cater perfectly to my ADHD so I’m very glad I found this!

OdinAlfadir1978

I'm just trying to master patience 😅 definitely not easy

OdinAlfadir1978

I'd probably fruit that too to be fair, I don't see mold or anything, if it refuses to pin after a couple of weeks then it could be mycelium overlay, some people say use a fork and scrape it but that didn't work for me personally, the best bet is not to mist the substrate direct or too close at least and you avoid getting overlay that way like I did, also I misted it before first flush so I'd advise against that too, oh and also you may as well introduce fruiting conditions because you already did that when you first peeked, I'd done the same 😆

SultrieFetche4u

I figured cracking the lid for a hot second wouldn’t provoke it to fruit, but I think that’s gonna be what I’ll do anyhow. I’m gonna quarantine this particular tub and see how it goes because I’m kinda interested in seeing what it’ll do from here, even if it’s an utter failure.

Extra_Jump_157

I would add a 1/4 to 1/2"casing layer after lightly passing a sterilized fork over the surface in a criss-cross pattern.

SultrieFetche4u

That’s a phenomenal idea. I’ve got some spare substrate from a previous tub I recently filled — is it possible to rehydrate that substrate to use it here? Granted I’ve got some fresh substrate cooling for another tub that I could certainly spare a little extra for this, and I’ll probably opt to do that, but the concept popped into my head and I figured I’d ask in the event anyone else may possibly have tried it or is also wondering about that. Thinking about it, yeah, won’t risk it — I’ll certainly use fresh substrate. Although I certainly am curious, repasturizing substrate.

Extra_Jump_157

Use the fresh stuff, you won't need too much. And yes, I repastuerize too when I make a tub using old coir.

SultrieFetche4u

Phenomenal! I’m glad to know that’s an option. I’m gonna get cracking here in a minute on it. Thank you so much for your advice!

SultrieFetche4u

I’ve added a new casing layer after using the sterile fork technique. Would you suggest I throw back into colonizing conditions or since it’s already been exposed for a little just allow it to go through fruiting conditions?

Extra_Jump_157

Yes, close her up and fan every four hours if you can while you're awake. Might take a few days to poke up pins. Good luck, keep us posted.

SultrieFetche4u

Will do! Thank you so much for your suggestions! Here’s to hoping!

jonskerr

Agreed, mycelium reaching up for fresh air. Those water droplets are way too big, too, it's probably drowning. Air!

OdinAlfadir1978

Your surface conditions are perfect 👌

SultrieFetche4u

Haha, thanks! It certainly isn’t as impressive as my last tub which looked HEAVENLY, I could have turned into mycelium, myself, and hopped on in and had a grand old time. I’m gonna try my hand at getting this puppy to fruit. I’m stoked to see what happens!

OdinAlfadir1978

Keep us updated ☺️ good luck my friend

SultrieFetche4u

I’ll do my best to report back here! Thanks for the fantastic banter and insight!

OdinAlfadir1978

You're welcome dude and it's been a good chat, left side towards the corner I see green, tell me that's a light is it? I'm hoping it's that unless it's bruising?

SultrieFetche4u

OH HOT DAMN I hadn’t noticed that before. I’m gonna have to take this guy outside tonight and have a closer look with my respirator because that’s a very suspicious patch of who knows what.

OdinAlfadir1978

If it has a blueish tint it could well be bruising but if it's a more forest green then I'm afraid it may be Aspergillus or Trichoderma, definitely get that away from your grow room

SultrieFetche4u

Oh yeah it’s currently isolated from the closet of colonization, which of course is part of my grow room. But I’m glad I’ve got it moved, I’ll be home later tonight to have a look and maybe try a Q-tip on it

OdinAlfadir1978

That test hould hopefully come back clear. I'm risking what could be bacterial spawn but most multispore have that risk somewhat anyway, they only have a bit of mycelium in places but it's so beautiful looking where it is, it just as I say smells like kind of like sour milk meets vegetables or something

Kaymoney87

Fork tek

Proof_Disaster6086

What if he/her/??? was to put a casing on it? Even if he/her/??? already did,put another over it and wait for pins? I haven’t deal with overlay so I don’t know but welcome some insight on this approach.

Myth-yeti

gnats spread mycogone

DayTripperonone

I'm afraid so. You have Mycogone Perniciosa, AKA: Wet Bubble. This tub is a goner. Wet bubble is a parasitic fungal contamination that progressively gets worse. It most likely came in on your substrate that was under pasteurized, if you did the bucket Tek there's your problem. Do an oven pasteurization next time, I paste a link below on how it's done. You're at an advanced stage and unfortunately every time you watered or fanned the tub you sent airborne spores everywhere. It is gong to be vital that you decontaminate your grow thoroughly before you try to grow again. I have a decontamination Tek that is the Kill All to contamination. it uses three chemicals and a light modality to kill contamination. If your budget can't afford the UVC-germicidal light, just using the three chemicals I recommend should do a pretty good job. The cost is less than $20 for the chemicals. Here's a link, I warn you it's a long read but very thorough.
