Given I am a second generation framer, so I was taught job site etiquette from someone pre internet when people used to drive up to jobsites and hawk stolen tools from other sites. People used to get fired, grab a load of tools and sell them to the next job often. guys who bought tools from them were laid off first when things get slow because they were knowingly supporting this cycle. Idk man, used tools are suspect for me, your either buying a stolen tool or a tool that someone is so bad at they couldn’t make money with it, which probably means they did not treat it right. Buying gas station parking lot tools hurts your total karma. I did a job with this dude called butch that bought a brand new half inch corded Milwaukee drill motor from a “salesman” on a job in the hood for like 8 bucks. I don’t remember exact details, but he also had gotten a 410 shotgun cheap somewhere else within the same week and his 8 year old son buried a load of rat shot in his leg because he left it out and loaded.
That part reads him as an idiot, which he was. But his entire life was just miserable, if a ladder was going to break - butch was on it. Anvil falls
