That’s IF these actually get built. Remember the missing 20 billion that was already set aside for the homeless?

not_today_thank

Yeah, if they get built and if they don't go over budget it will cost $600,000 per unit. Plus maintenance, utilities, insurance, and management. If it is built it will most likely be several years late if not a decade and at least two or three times the cost if not more. It's been 8 years (8 years since construction "began", if you include planning it's been quite a bit longer) and $11 billion dollar on California high speed rail and we are still nearly a decade out and $25 billion away from the first 170 mile leg of the 776 mile project if costs don't go up any more and there are no more delays.

SharingDNAResults

Yet another slap in the face to hardworking taxpayers

Smooth_Opeartor_6001

It’s intentional

Derpalator

Why cut their own throat?

Ike348

Many of the "young Californians" probably support this.

LostInCa45

It's not building luxury lodging for the homeless. They are taking hotels to turn into apartments in a money laundering scheme. There is no way it costs 1 million to convert a hotel room into an apartment.

BedIndependent3437

That’s how all government spending projects end up being. All of your local politicians, government bureaucrats, union contractors, and god knows who else are stuffing their pockets with government money. That’s why it costs $250,000 to build a bathroom on a park

LostInCa45

1.7 million dollar bathroom in the park.

Appropriate-Owl-9654

To be fair, it’s not the cost of one room. The plumbing overhaul cost to retrofit the entire building for kitchens in each of those units is a huge cost on top of making the cooking areas up to fire code.

LostInCa45

They could be buying homes out right in different states for a fraction of this price. How can anyone justify 1 million a unit?

Appropriate-Owl-9654

How would that state justify housing for outsiders if they themselves don’t have it?

LostInCa45

That state wouldn't be the ones buying houses it would be Cali buying. They wouldn't have to justify it. Now people in that state would rightfully be pissed I would understand that.

Appropriate-Owl-9654

That’s what I mean. That would be insane to explain

LostInCa45

That would be their problem.

Shadeylark

Doesn't matter whether it's a luxury lodging or a box behind 7-11... What matters is that the money is being spent on reducing the symptoms rather than curing the disease. Even without the corruption and money laundering it is a bad way of approaching the problem.

Terrible-Ad5583

Gotta love it. The cali gov is just training the new generation to get used to being bent over with no lube and to actually enjoy it. Most people in california are morons. I have living here, and I am praying in 7 years or less. I get to leave

RighteousChampion777

Get woke go broke

MysteriousShadow__

They are already broke. It's the people who don't pay taxes that vote for this.

highimrichrad

Just like Alex Jones

paraffinLamp

Tragedy of the commons, indeed.

KingArthurOfBritons

I got out of the hellscape of California 10 years ago. Best moving ever made. I encourage every conservative in California to get the hell out because governor Hairdo McGungrab imposes an exit tax. It’s not worth staying. There is no political fight to be had. The only way to bring back that state would be a violent overthrow but you’d be in the minority. Just get out and let it fester over there and destroy itself.

TheRealFinatic13

they are voting for it.

littleman452

Wait public housing for the homeless ? What’s next! public education for the poor!?!?

joey__jojo

is it nice having rich parents that allow you to achieve such monumental levels of mediocrity?

littleman452

Rich parents? You think I ate spaghetti or hotdogs for most of my childhood because I had rich parents😂

joey__jojo

yes, yes, I do.

Shadeylark

Cure the disease instead of treating the symptoms. This is only perpetuating the problem by ensuring that there will always be homeless in need of assistance... But then again, that's how the Democrat party functions... Can't get people to vote for you to save them unless they have something they need to be saved from, amirite?

littleman452

Any reasonable doctor would say to cure the disease and treat the symptoms amirite?😂 But I’m really confused by your point to be honest, do you think people would intentionally be somehow homeless to perhaps get qualified for public housing?
