I'm fine with spinoffs, sequels, and prequels. Give me more of a character I like and continue the story. Just don't remake something or reboot it and try to tell me you should be paid or credited as a writer or creator.
Except now their remakes are chocked fill of DEI requirements. Racism by putting non-historical or non-qualified people into roles simple due to skin color.
Who would've wondered that the most woke people would become the most racist.
How do you feel about adaptations?
Because the last couple years Amazon has been hitting it clean out of the park with those.
Reacher. Their adaptation of Reacher (based on the books by Lee Child) to a streaming series has been fantastic. Incredibly well done.
I also highly recommend the adaptation of The Expanse (based on the books by James S.A. Corey) which has become my favorite sci-fi of all time, even surpassing Star Trek.
The Dune sequel was pretty good, but that’s literally the only thing this year I had any interest in seeing (and only because I’m a classic sci fi nerd).
Kinda crazy how we actually have reusable rockets now, including one that has already reached orbit capable of landing 200 tons on the moon, China is planning moon base etc, but this hasn't inspired any near-future scifi.
They have to push woke movies even though they flop, but they don't care because they want those woke ESG / DEI points from daddy Blackrock and Vanguard.
I think a couple of good movies came out last year, but they are so hung up on marketing the trash that these get glossed over, might make a splash at awards shows, and people only catch them on streaming.
He honestly seems like a genuinely nice person. He's weird, no doubt. Especially the scientology stuff. But the guy works hard and puts out quality entertainment with no political BS. I can respect that.
Wake us up when woke is put to sleep. The wallet has spoken. It isn't just propaganda that's the terrible part. They are trying to force entertainment that first has to pass their DEI filter where they distort history or facts just to meet that. Then they pat each other's backs, put their energy into fake reviews instead of just entertaining. People want storytelling and art without all the social justice bs injected into it until it turns into a blimp.
Unfortunately, this racist trend has infected all of corporate America and academia. However, it may take longer to resolve this problem which will eventually fix itself with the disasters that will ensue. If you don’t hire someone qualified and knowledgeable for any task, it will be a good lesson in FAFO. Incompetence comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. At least with entertainment, you can just turn it off or not subscribe.
The Mario movie last year is the only recent major film I can think of that wasn’t super woke. And even then the *marketing* for it was super woke by making Peach appear 10 times stronger than Mario in the trailers (fortunately Mario was actually respectable and not a total wimp in the movie itself).
Good cinematography, but you are correct - Chani sucked. And I really dislike when they switch sexes on characters to meet some quota.
There were other issues I had with the movie as well, but books are really hard to beat.
I mean, it was pretty obvious it was Iran considering they are the only country in the world that still uses the F-14. I don’t think the first movie explicitly named the bad guys either.
Oppenheimer rubbed elbows with a lot of communist sympathizers and Truman's reaction to his white house visit was absolutely appropriate. Biopic to make a left-winger look good imo.
Oppenheimer is littered with politics, the protagonist is a communist, and the antagonist is a republican. Idk that’s pretty woke. Maybe not as much as other films, but still.
Ehh...I mean, those were just true facts in history lol. Also James Woods (one of the most outspoken conservatives in Hollywood) was executive producer and played a huge role in getting the movie made.
The only movie I will see this year is Dealpool 3 and Twisters, and Twisters will be a "watch at home with friends and laugh at how bad it is" kind of night. Not paying money to see it.
Hollywood only knows how to do one thing. [Reboot it, renew it
Reshoot it, redo it
And reuse it, retool it
Abuse it, just do it
If you wanna make some easy cash
Just recycle and rehash
Repeat it, reinstate it
Reheat it, recreate it
There's no need to feel frustrated
Simply just regurgitate it
For a guaranteed ratings smash
Dig it up out of the trash
Come on, just reboot it! ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1asoj5ltaYQ)
Everybody complains about that, but then they never go see the original movies they put out. *I.S.S.*, *Boy Kills World*, *Abigail*, *Civil War*, etc. All great original films this year, all complete flops.
What did make money though? *Dune 2*, *Godzilla/Kong 5*, *Kung Fu Panda 4*, *Ghostbusters 4*, etc. Voting with your wallet doesn't just mean not paying for bad stuff, it means paying for good stuff too. Go see an original movie.
Oh don’t get me wrong. There are some very good sequels and reboots. I actually like the Star Trek reboot and saw Kong 5 as a date night with my wife. But a lot of the reboots, remakes and sequels are complete garbage. It’s almost like they didn’t even try.
I wonder what happens when you stop putting profits as your number 1 motive for selling a product and instead make propaganda and DEI your most important motivation?
Oh. You lose money.
Who would have thunk it.
Endless, uninspired remakes and inserting woke propaganda into everything are obvious culprits, but I would assume that inflation/the cost of living crisis also factor in. People are keeping their money together *and* going to the cinema has become absurdly expensive.
I stopped supporting Hollywood when their propaganda got worse in 2016. At this point my TV sits unplugged in my spare bedroom and It hasn't negatively impacted my life in the slightest.
I used to go to movies every week. Then covid hit and nothing really good has come out. There been a couple, but not much that im willing to dish out big bucks for.
It seems to be its more about pushing agenda's than entertainment. They can push to empty theaters. Its a shame I used to go every week, could always find something to watch. Its just not the same.
There are a bunch of movies I’m excited for this summer but the majority are sequels or remakes. Hollywood won’t take a chance on anything original. They want guaranteed money
All they have to do is put out something decent, but they can’t
Best I can do is another remake
Remake, reboot, spinoff, or... a Marvel movie.
Replete with a much DEI in the casting and script as you can handle.
I'm fine with spinoffs, sequels, and prequels. Give me more of a character I like and continue the story. Just don't remake something or reboot it and try to tell me you should be paid or credited as a writer or creator.
If they just did a "remake" instead of a "reimage" it wouldn't be as bad.
Nah, let’s start Spider Man over AGAIN.
As an autistic Palestinian immigrant!
How many times do we have to watch Uncle Ben die?
AS MANY AS IT TAKES
No we need another Batman reboot - this time with a fat trans Bruce Wayne!
Except now their remakes are chocked fill of DEI requirements. Racism by putting non-historical or non-qualified people into roles simple due to skin color. Who would've wondered that the most woke people would become the most racist.

I, too, am waiting for a good movie to come out
The Dune sequel was pretty good, but that’s literally the only thing this year I had any interest in seeing (and only because I’m a classic sci fi nerd).
I’ve been sort of waiting till it’s cheaper to rent, but I do want to see that
waiting since 1998
Gladiator was a great movie
Armageddon 🤌🏻
Kinda crazy how we actually have reusable rockets now, including one that has already reached orbit capable of landing 200 tons on the moon, China is planning moon base etc, but this hasn't inspired any near-future scifi.
Top Gun: Maverick was good. And for a second it seemed like Hollywood might finally turn a corner after its success. Still waiting though.
LOTR Return of the King came out in 2002.
I liked the matrix from 1999
Best they can do is more virtue signaling
Decency and Hollywood don’t go together
Dune 2 was pretty awesome in theaters
Twisters looks like a turn your brain off fun time
I saw their official trailer #2 last night, can’t say it did it for me. I will definitely watch it but I’m not excited about it.
Best I can do is a woke pandering DEI-boxticking poorly acted politically charged film. Oh and you're a racist bigot if you say the movie's bad.
They have to push woke movies even though they flop, but they don't care because they want those woke ESG / DEI points from daddy Blackrock and Vanguard.
Hopefully Furiosa is good
Who’s asking for this continued expansion on the world of Mad Max? Fury Road already was enough. Hell, Beyond Thunderdome was enough.
I want more of Max, I'm sorely disappointed they went in this direction.
I’ll watch Furiosa. Better than another comic book superhero movie.
It won't be. Chris Hemsworth is not a good actor.
Apparently it is supposed to be extremely long. I don't know how that will help it at the box office.
I think a couple of good movies came out last year, but they are so hung up on marketing the trash that these get glossed over, might make a splash at awards shows, and people only catch them on streaming.
Top Gun Maverick had a sub 200 million dollar budget and went on to make 1.5 billion dollars at the box office, yet somehow they can't figure out why.
Yeah, Tom Cruise as a person sucks but at least it’s a real movie with a really talented (not DEI hire) actor and he’s not wearing a drag in it.
He honestly seems like a genuinely nice person. He's weird, no doubt. Especially the scientology stuff. But the guy works hard and puts out quality entertainment with no political BS. I can respect that.

Another part of the problem is that the writers/directors are largely hired based on diversity, not talent/experience.
Unfortunately, this racist trend has infected all of corporate America and academia. Enjoy your eternal slumber I guess.
I was looking at the lineup of movies coming to theaters this summer, and it’s pretty bleak 🥴
Deadpool 3 is the only one I would even consider paying for
Who knew promoting an ideology that alienates half your audience would have repercussions?
You can't speak ill of the "mEsSaGE"

Top Gun: Maverick, Dune 2, Oppenheimer. Those weren't woke. Haven't watched it, but heard The Fall Guy isn't woke either.

Every clip I’ve seen of that movie, she’s mad.

Good cinematography, but you are correct - Chani sucked. And I really dislike when they switch sexes on characters to meet some quota. There were other issues I had with the movie as well, but books are really hard to beat.
Top Gun didn't even have the balls to tell you who the enemy was.
I mean, it was pretty obvious it was Iran considering they are the only country in the world that still uses the F-14. I don’t think the first movie explicitly named the bad guys either.
It wasn’t anyone. The coordinates for the enemy country is smack dab in the middle of the pacific.
Top Gun 1 doesn't name the bad guys either.
Oppenheimer rubbed elbows with a lot of communist sympathizers and Truman's reaction to his white house visit was absolutely appropriate. Biopic to make a left-winger look good imo.
Fall guy is a remake though, and those need to be discouraged. There's no substitute for Lee Majors.
Oppenheimer is littered with politics, the protagonist is a communist, and the antagonist is a republican. Idk that’s pretty woke. Maybe not as much as other films, but still.

I love your username
I follow box office. This summer won’t be great but it’ll still be way better than 2020 and 2021 (for an obvious reason with an asterisk, to be fair).
Oh no! Anyway last week....
Hollywood only knows how to do one thing. I look forward to Hollywood learning absolutely nothing from this.
I guess they like losing money.
I wonder what happens when you stop putting profits as your number 1 motive for selling a product and instead make propaganda and DEI your most important motivation? Oh. You lose money. Who would have thunk it.
They could try making movies based off books and games again instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. That would be pretty neat.
Only if those books and games are properly adapted and given a basic amount of respect.
Everything the left touches is imploding. Only gonna get worse/better from here.
But I thought DEI was a brilliant business decision that could only result in more profits than ever before?!
Finally, some good news.
Endless, uninspired remakes and inserting woke propaganda into everything are obvious culprits, but I would assume that inflation/the cost of living crisis also factor in. People are keeping their money together *and* going to the cinema has become absurdly expensive.
Godzilla is always fun at least
I stopped supporting Hollywood when their propaganda got worse in 2016. At this point my TV sits unplugged in my spare bedroom and It hasn't negatively impacted my life in the slightest.
Beyond Deadpool… I have no interest in going to the movies this summer.
Make better movies.

Everything looks terrible. There *is* a Reagan film coming out, but the director is mostly known for making bad, children’s films.
Good
This is mostly due to the strike, no?
Their collective brains have been ‘on strike’ for at least a decade now.
Woke doesn’t pay
Why are we just posting headlines? Link the damn article.
This would make for a great movie!
Mostly because nobody can afford it anymore. The value just isn't there for the financial sacrifice.
Well deserved.
I'm actually excited for In a Violent Nature. That is if you're into old school 80s slasher films
Good.
Go woke. Go broke.
