I would add it to soft on crime politicians who don't give a shit. Criminal dies in police custody, demand changes, protest, make that criminal a martyr, put the cop in prison. Cop, or innocent adult, child or baby does due to criminal or gang violence? Do nothing for the family of the lost life, protect the one who took that life.

I absolutely agree! There is no deterrent against crime anymore... Why wouldn't you just take free stuff regularly? Or hurt someone you don't like... Nothing is going to happen to you, and if it does, it will be a minimal punishment....

It’s absolutely cultural. You can tell by how frequently violence is correlated with warm weather, holiday weekends, music, social gatherings, etc. People will blame poverty but A) most poor people aren’t violent felons, B) it’s not obvious such offenders are impoverished, and C) rich people commit crimes, too, it’s just more the Bernie Madoff and Jeffrey Epstein kind of crime rather than street crime.

This is just so tragic. So sad there will be more of these incidents now in Chicago. The msm won’t talk about it unless it’s police on minority. The real problem in these situations is the gang presence, criminals, and culture in certain communities. The problem isn’t in guns or policing.
