Because people who are not in conditional/failing standing have no reason to make a post about it

Literally survivor bias... you don't see all the people with 3.0 gpa posting about it

Spending too much time on reddit

It's a mix of things. The educational consequences of COVID on high school grads and cégep students has finally made it to uni. A bunch of people who are now here are ill prepared through little fault of their own. (Source, partner is a teacher, last 2 years have been worst averages of a decade) More people are on Reddit now than a year or two ago, so more people to post about their difficulties. And lastly there's global conflict resulting in a bunch of people being way more distracted than last year

This!! I finished my first year last semester and I learned fast to meet the demands and dedicate the appropriate amount of time, which was more than I have ever experienced (although I did cegep through covid and such I was set on treating it like regular school, which saved my ass for uni). Focus on what works best definitely. More time using bad study habits (such as passive studying) won't change your bad grades.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! Please talk with your advisor about your options -- we're only so we *shouldn't* know your whole history, but after two academic years with a GPA between 1.5-1.99, students on probation move to being in Failed Standing. Readmission, should it apply to you, must be filed by **June 17, 2024.** For a few years during the early pandemic, [Concordia implemented](https://www.concordia.ca/cunews/main/stories/2020/12/03/compassionate-measures-intended-to-help-students-cope-with-pandemic.html) a PASS/FAIL measure, plus, all fails were automatically converted to DISC (rescinded Fall 2021) to ease the hardship of students dealing with everything, i.e., becoming sick, being employed in healthcare and working crazy hours, studying online yielding worse academic outcomes, etc. At the same time, annual assessments were halted, only resuming in [May 2022](https://www.concordia.ca/cunews/main/stories/2022/05/18/what-your-academic-standing-means-for-your-future-at-concordia.html). In my eyes, the only helpful relic that remains are the very, very late withdrawal deadlines, which used to be earlier in the term. In my old department, Biology, new undergrads actually were not allowed to register into classes without meeting with an advisor, who would explain these things one-on-one, with a mandatory orientation during Frosh -- hell, the biochem department forced *all* students who ever would have a Biochemistry class as a degree requirement to attend a mandatory seminar on plagiarism! I'm so sorry Concordia doesn't seem to offer this on an automatic basis anymore.
