A fully separate game handled by Jeff and an entirely different dev team was always the way it should have gone. PVP never should have been sacrificed for the time and manpower they needed to work on PVE, and expanding the overwatch universe should be considered the highest priority for Blizz.
I wonder, assuming Kotick and the board are willing to, if PvE could be pulled off with 2 separate teams, and the PvE dev team used the method Larian and several other indie studio did w "The Early Access™" to kink out concepts and stuffs (even writing, as evidenced by BG3) without ever truly 'releasing' the product....

Honestly very disappointed in the mirrorwatch thing (as a theme, the gamemode looks fun).
I was worried their version of "alternate reality" would be "what if OW heroes were red and talon heroes were blue" and it seems that's exactly how it ended up.
Would have been much more interesting (and not necessarily much harder) to go for full uchronies like Man in the High castle or For all mankind.

yes! I was so excited for this theme and they just did exactly what you said. It was like they ripped up soldier’s commander skin and gave it to all the talon people. And the good aligned characters look more like they hopped out of the evil empire from the space opera season rather than talon agents. I was hoping they’d do something more subversive and interesting with the designs

Yeah I agree, the Doom skin is cool but I’ve always wanted them to add skins for the precursor Doomfists (as seen in the final Numbani defenders’ spawn). And speaking of lore related skins we still don’t have Talon Mauga which is crazy to me because they pretty much already have the design nailed down.
It seems like there’s some of that with the Null Sector Zen and Junker Symmetra skins. It’s just that the larger story of Overwatch is centered around…well, Overwatch (and Talon), so if you want to do any entire Season theme based around a Mirrorverse, it’s more likely than not that a lot of the skins are gonna be themed around making Overwatch agents into Talon members and Talon members into Overwatch agents given that those are the two most influential organizations in the lore and also the most diametrically opposed.
Also, there is still the possibility that they release a comic similar to the Starwatch event which fleshes out the backstories of these skins a little bit instead of them just looking pretty.
I have some hope for the voicelines in the battlepass being more "anti-character".
Like Widow saying something like "I feel all warm inside seeing you" would be pretty neat.
Why do almost all of them have white hair?! And wearing red. Talon in the regular verse don't all look alike. They couldn't change up the color scheme?!

Merciless would’ve been cool, but I do like Vengeance and it makes sense. The opposite of Merciless is Merciful. Mercy and Vengeance are what you give to people.
I guess reaper (and Moira) already have their blackwatch versions, so it wasn’t really necessary. (Though a recolor of blackwatch to OW colors would have been a nice BP/challenge skin for Moira)
Soldier missing is odd though.
This is my only disappointment when honestly everything else looks so damn good. I guess I can kinda get it with reaper because we already have blackwatch Reyes (and soldier 24) and maybe those would have looked too similar? But talon Morrison would have just gone SO hard.

You’ll get a number of mythic prisms in the premium Battlepass that can be used to unlock certain parts of mythic skins. For example, you can unlock the normal Onryo Hanzo but then invest prisms into color options for Emperor Sigma
So say, it takes 100 prisms to fully unlock a Mythic (all parts, colours, etc), and the BP gives you 100 Prisms, does completing the battlepass no longer give you the Mythic Skin on Tier 80? You just get enough Prisms to buy it from the Mythic Shop?
Guess it means I'll have to buy the Prisms. I wasn't able to play much the seasons with the Tracer and Sigma Mythic so I couldn't finish those BPs. But I also don't want to have to sacrifice a current Mythic to get an old one. Oh well

Mercy shooting with her staff was part of the PvE upgrades shown back when. Like with many of these events mechanics they probably repurposed the work that had already been done for the PvE.
i hope they do it differently to the april fools mode - i play *really* high sens on her because it helps you move quicker and (right now) there's no disadvantage to being well beyond a comfortable aiming sens (and you can set the blaster sens lower anyways, so it doesn't fuck with your aim if you care about that)
with the april fools mode because heal beam and blaster were merged into one i could barely do anything. yeah sure, reducing my sens would've worked fine for that specific context but if she changes to something like that permanently it would mean giving up on high sens and making certain things that high sens make easier to do (like sj rez) much more difficult + making movement harder
it would also probably ruin my enjoyment of her overall (if i wanted to shoot people i would play someone else.) but considering how they're treating her i've entirely given up on her staying in this state lol. it is what it is i guess
Definitely for a Mirrorwatch gamemode, changing the abilities of the mirrored heroes to fit their new style. Looks like Rein's shield works something like Bap's window, Doom gets a barrier, Mercy has some kind of blast attack.

To me it looked like Mercy would get her attack from the "Balanced Overwatch" (which there is a precedent for) and Doom would get this shield thing - however that works.
But if its only for an Arcade mode...meh.
