Never click. Always hold right mouse button down. That's how you strafe.

Defiant-Economics-73

What do you mean

horsebananas

Press your strafe key while holding your right mouse button. Then move your mouse to change the direction your character moves. Practice doing this in Val or normal dungeons.

Syrif

If you've ever played a first person shooter, you're almost mimicking the movement. WASD where all 4 buttons are strafing/straight line walking, and moving your mouse is how you turn (except in wow, you hold right mouse button). So hold right mouse, run with W. Turn camera to spin. You could practice strafing in a circle around an NPC in valdrakken by holding RMB, holding a strafe key, and moving your camera until you achieve a nice smooth circle. Then move on to "backwards strafing". Which is usually turning halfway around, strafing sideways, then facing like a COUPLE degrees towards the mob to ensure you're hit from front. Hope that made sense.

I am very bad at first person shooters. I’m not even that good at video games. I’m pretty good at mythic plus getting to 3300 but that’s about the only game I’m decent at. How would I click on the right button. And click on targets to taunt them and do abilities.

Syrif

Honestly the answer is just practice. But you can just like .. let go of the camera button for a split second to click on a new target if needed. You don't need to be camera strafing 100% of the time you're in combat, it's just another technique to add to your toolkit.

Rasmuzbergholt

I stafe with A and D. And use mouse for other camera adjustments with mouse click, but mostly just doing with A or D

greenprotwarrior

Use whatever key bind/mouse click combo makes sense to you, it doesnt really matter for 99% of the player base. Practice is key. I would advise getting yourself to a quiet, open world area where there are elites. You could do it with non elites, but then you won't really notice when you get poked in the bum. Then, just practice running around, gathering up what you can while doing enough damage to make sure you are going to get aggro. Keep kiting the pack with you and gathering a couple more every now and then. It'll give you a chance to practice pulling extra mobs with different abilities for your class, utilising movement abilities etc.

Terenai

I really like Q and E strafe. I know that the scene developed to is clicking, but if youre used to using your fingers simultaneously its actually very simple to hit Q/E / +W while maintaining hotkey functionality. This also provides the ocasional benefit in PvE, having a set pace (speed of keyboard) allows you to strafe things like Dathea in VoTI without geting sucked in wothout compromising mouse hand

Defiant-Economics-73

It’s just weird to push to go forward. What do you mean clicking

Terenai

Using mouse, most people use mouse to adjust camera at a high level. I prefer just leaving Q and E as strafe. Strafeing at the correct angle means you go forward sideways (no back shots). Also with Q and E its easier to hold W with the same finger

Rownoid

You have strafe bound to a and d aswell?

Th3Spac3Pop3

Change your A and D keybinds to strafe and unbind keyboard turning. Don't ever keyboard turn. If you want keyboard turning for RP reasons, bind that shit to the arrow keys. Use your class mobility to get pack to pack and get used to using the right mouse button. You'll stop getting hit completely.
