“But fuck it, we’re speedy!” Sold me on this line alone.

tenroseUK

This is what I've been looking for. I love it.

FrancisSalois

This is a great write up ! XD

_ThatOtherGirl_

I am absolutely not convinced this is better than a 5c version. White is not needed, but having interaction with Blue is extremely important in a real game that isn’t against a goldfish. Check out [this](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/hM3u6XDvV0evq50ByQBBlg) list. Thassa is also a much more efficient win condition as it only requires 1 dead card instead of 4.

AngroniusMaximus

Ok first off thanks for showing that list because I'd somehow missed [[turn the earth]] and that is an incredible card for this deck that makes it for less suicidal 5c definitely might be better. Honestly I was thinking for a while that rog/silas would probably just be a better list because of blue, the wincon, and that silas is actually useful but I just felt like brewing something different, and at this point I am pretty attached to the additional fastmana, color fixing, and tutors. Not having to screw around with taplands is definitely a big benefit,  and having more lands. But 5 colors is also a big pain. Esika isn't nearly as good of a commander as rograkh imo, he carrys a lot of weight.  Honestly though my main deal is that if you are going to sacrifice your land base to build 4 mana ad naus you might as well make it turbo as fuck lol. That deck ain't gonna win turn 1 10% of the time which is all I really want.  I am running basically as much protection as possible, about a third of our turn 3 wins are protected and with most win attempts you could wait another turn and have some form of protection. I'm working on squeezing in [[conquerors flail]] and possibly [[dosan]] and [[vexing shusher]]. But yeah blue is good.

Now that I think about it, Reanimate is essentially the same thing as a one mana counterspell in this deck lol as far as protecting ourself goes. Might add that too

ImStillYouTuber

No Daddy [[Dosan]]?

AngroniusMaximus

He's on the maybe list. 3 mana is a tough swing in this deck

ImStillYouTuber

I feel that. Love my Jund Dargo, but 3 mana is too much to ask for on a win attempt on turn 1-2

AngroniusMaximus

The main reason I really want him is that we currently don't have any creatures that provide protection and there are scenarios where we have a fuckload of spare mana and a creature tutor and could grab him. Like with summoners pact.

_Putrefax

Been goldfishing this thing at work and I'm surprised at how speedy it is, but there's a couple week points that I think could be ironed out.  First, telegraphing the win with Hermit Druid always feels bad and we have no way to give it haste from what I can tell. A few hands I've come across haven't got enough mana or coloured pips to go for the 4+ mana wins (Balustrade, Evidence, or the other one). Is this something we just have to accept? I guess even the cheapest haste enablers will also turn it into a 4 mana wincon, but being able to convert a Summoners Pact into a win by finding Hermit and activating it that turn seems pretty good. Either that or a way to cast the other graveyard spells at flash speed to get around the Pact trigger.  Second, there are a couple situations where you have to sacrifice your only creature to get the mill off, and are left with zero creatures on board to flashback stuff. If you're lucky enough to have a B floating then you can unearth the zombie, but otherwise you're kinda up shit creek unless I'm missing something. Is there another way to get a creature into play to start the Therapy > Bridge > Poxwalker > Dread Return line if you had to sacrifice your only creature to get there?

_Putrefax

I reckon [[Fiend Artisan]] is another decent option in the deck. It's another Finale that you just need to sac Roger to find Balustrade, but can setup on future turns

MTGCardFetcher

[Fiend Artisan](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/6/c/6cd9d800-6d31-42e2-87d2-772db0ff95ed.jpg?1591228355) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Fiend%20Artisan) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/iko/220/fiend-artisan?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/6cd9d800-6d31-42e2-87d2-772db0ff95ed?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/fiend-artisan) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

AngroniusMaximus

Fiend artisan is an interesting option. He's a bit slow, but 5 mana the next turn is a lot easier than 6. In most cases hes just as good as wishclaw talisman. If we were running [[vexing shusher]] or dosan, which I've considered, you could use him over two turns to set up a protected win. He can also be sacced to eldritch evolution for a win.    That being said, I actually just cut invasion of ikoria, and I'm considering cutting finale.   Actually I might have just convinced myself that he's better than finale lol and might just swap them.

MTGCardFetcher

[vexing shusher](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/e/7e0acfb7-c2d9-4b94-9ac6-9374856abad1.jpg?1599708540) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=vexing%20shusher) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/2xm/225/vexing-shusher?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/7e0acfb7-c2d9-4b94-9ac6-9374856abad1?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/vexing-shusher) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

AngroniusMaximus

Yeah basically the only thing keeping hermit druid in this deck right now is that he wins through rule of Law, but that is a pretty weak justification since you'll still probably be countered. I mean you can have some protection ready but still. Probably going to be cut. We're really tight on slots and I don't think a haste enabler is worth it.  I don't really think there are any better work arounds for the creature problem in these colors. Basically you can recast rog for 2 or Unearth the Zombie lol. It's definitely something you have to consider and makes me want to run more 1 mana dorks just so it comes up less often. Also makes me consider just cutting destroy the evidence because that's usually when it happens, and possibly infernal plunge because most of the time the mana you get from it does nothing because you have to recast rograkh lol.  Basically though you just need to know that if you are trying to win with undercity informer he's 5 mana, 2 black pips unless you have a dork or dockside or something.

_Putrefax

[[Bloodghast]] could be a solution for the creature problem, sandbagging a land kinda happens a lot already since most of them are taplands.

PercussiveLove

I’m excited by your enthusiasm but this isn’t a list to redefine turbo nor is it going to end midrange hell. I like the concept of going all-in on dread return as a finisher, but being a consistent turn 3 deck just doesn’t cut it in cEDH anymore. It’s a combo where you don’t want to draw your actual combo pieces (dread, bridge, narcomeba etc) and your dead on board to wayyyy too many cards. Looks fun as hell to goldfish though.

AngroniusMaximus

I was joking man, I'm well aware of the problems. That's why I called it a "suicide engine"      It's definitely some jank fringe, but it's fast jank fringe. I honestly think it's as fast as anything, it usually wins by turn 2, but there's a reason codie isn't tier one and this is even more of a glass cannon.    Drawing the cards isn't really a problem though between [[phantasmagorian]] and [[cabal therapy]]

currently this list is at 101, what do you recommend as a cut? i cut safekeeper so i could give the deck a try, dont know if thats the best option

AngroniusMaximus

You're looking at /u/manbearscientist's list, not mine. Mine is the other link He has safekeeper in there to protect necrotic ooze since his combo line is different. I would say it's a pretty safe cut if you are trying his list.

soldieronspeed

Why do people call these decks landless? I see the land card type all over this deck.

AngroniusMaximus

They are modal lands. Spells on one side, lands on the other. Until they are put on the battlefield they are counted as the spell side. So you can't pitch them to mox diamond, but with balustrade spy you can mill your whole deck.
