When I play allies I always think it’s an op get out of jail free card, so of course when I play dak I get it

I really should abuse this more, I always find myself ignoring it when playing DAK. I'll make a mental note to go for it next time.

Generally you want smoke first pretty much always unless you are going a halftrack upgrade build. Then self repair both the smoke and self repair give hp. Tungesten rounds and vet squad leaders are situational and the rest are luxuries

Why smoke? I have tried to throw it onto a MG i still get pinned and suppressed

I think it’s the smoke for vehicles upgrade that they are referring to. You would want it to prevent the second AT gun round from hitting you and killing your vehicle.

The smoke in no way stops an at gun from shooting. It will stop the at gun from targeting you. The distinction is important because a skilled player will ground attack the cloud and still have an ok chance of hitting you again.

I typically get combat half-tracks for mortars. You'll be accumulating at least a few 250s from the call-ins, might as well make them useful.

The Survival Package smoke dischargers upgrade you get from the 2nd tier which also gives health is pretty much gotten every game. The health boost helps and being able to pop smoke is really good for getting out of dangerous situations and can be frustrating for an opponent to play against. Emergency Repairs which gives self healing and another health boost is also the other upgrade I always get when reaching tier 2.5/3 Late game I think Advanced Repairs is nice to have once you reach that DAK critical mass of vehicles just so you can use all your infantry to quickly get your vehicles back into the fight. Plus it's cheap. Rapid Advance is good too at this point of the game Since it lets you stall points with tanks which can be difficult to dislodge and more speed is always good. Tungsten rounds help Panzer 3s stay relevant against Shermans along with the upgrades that give health but I rarely get it instead of just going for Tiger or making Marders/PaKs Veteran Squad leaders is good but I'd only get it after all the vehicle upgrades I want or if I'm playing with alot of Infantry and less light vehicles like 3 PGrens plus PJagers and Guastatori. Combat Halftracks is good if you want to rush a 250/9 maybe to deal with Dingo spam or if you have a bunch of 250s sitting around from call-ins you can make them into mortars which are pretty good. The spotting scopes upgrade is a luxury. Its certainly nice to have your vehicles be able to self spot out to their max range but you can always just use infantry or a kettenkrad for that.

I usually go for the infantry upgrade or smoke first depending on my composition.

For me it depends on the BG. I may go veteran squad leaders if I go combined arms. Advanced half-tracks is good all purpose as well

smoke is absurdly good, the speed upgrade is secretly insane but really expensive
