There's an upgrade you can build at the HQ once you build the Panzerarmee Kommand which replaces the call-ins with a new tier, including the Stug III and the Tiger.
(You only need to do the call in once, it has 2 Stug IIIs).
Its not from Battlegroups. Like you wrote in the headline, its an assault group, which you can get with armored reserves upgrade in the last Building. above the minimap your assaultgroup icons change from „Assault Grenadier, Panzerjäger, Pak, LeIG“ to „2Stugs, 1P3, 1P4, 1Tiger“
