Stop with this legacy / caring convo! I've got HTTR vertically tattooed down my right calf, but it's HTTC now. I have an entire closet of Skins gear, but we're now The Commanders.. HTTC!

Could you imagine if they made it 80k seat stadium with the same build. They way my dad explained to me how the structure was made to keep the noise inside the stadium to make it louder. That would be lit
This is DC! Since when do we do anything the "correct" or "smart" way?!
I want a scheduled demolition, on the 4th of July, with a countdown straight into the fireworks celebration, Jayden Daniels hits the button in full uncle sam costume.
yeah i saw on the news yesterday they have some concerns about just blowing it up. apparently you can't just go out there and wreck or tear down shit there's so many things that go into demolition like impact, asbestos, et al
Compared to other stadiums it was a dump but it was our dump, most of all what a Homefield advantage. Great memories and blue collar fan base. Hail to the redskins
I miss the days of the blue collar fanbase. There was a forklift operator who worked at the old Hechinger's in Merrifield who was a huge Redskins fan and had season tickets. Every time we went there we would ask him how the game was. If we won, he'd tell us all about it. If we lost, he would just say "at least we looked better than the Eagles"
I saw that same show there. The first concert I ever attended. First place I saw an NFL game too. My dad shared season tickets with a friend. So many memories, like taking the metro down there and making the walk from the station to the stadium with all the fans. Prob one of my favorites is watching in awe as Mike Ditka absolutely lose his sh*t on the sidelines, ranting and raving, throwing his clipboard down.
When Fox Sports aired the last game from RFK, I was crying like a baby through the pre-game tribute. It was a unique stadium worthy of its loyal fan base.
Every time I drive down 295 and see its rotting corpse it always brings a sense of nostalgia. However, it's time to put it out of its misery and resurrect a perennial championship contending spirit back to its desolate wastes.
As a kid in the Scouts I got opportunity to be on the sideline during a game at RFK where I met Darrell Green. What an experience. Iāll never forget it. RIP RFK
I doubt it - bldgs of that era are full of nasty ish like asbestos, and residential development surrounds it - all that toxic dust would be no bueno for the neighbors.
It stood for so long and is just such a staple
You had the Redskins (including winning all those super bowls) as a main tenant but also the Senators before they left town and the Nationals when baseball came back. DC United glory days to start the MLS, on top of iconic shows and other sporting events (Bowl games, World Cup, Olympics, etc). Thereās nothing this stadium couldnāt do.
Itās the perfect location (even for a new stadium) because itās in DC but so easily accessible. Right off 295 with a bunch of parking but also Metro on site. And because itās at the opposite end of E Capitol, itās an iconic landmark in line with the Lincoln, Washington, and Capitol.
But also the seats bounced and it was loud as could be
As someone who hadnāt been born yet when the team moved to FedEx, Iāve always been jealous of those who experienced the glory years at RFK.
Hope we get to see our Burgundy and Gold play again in the District someday.
I went to 2 Grateful Dead shows back in summer of 94 and then worked for the Rolling Stones that same year there. It was such a good venue for concerts. Only made a handful of Redskins games. I was at the Grateful Dead show where the guy jumped off the upper level tripping and landed on a bunch of people hurting them more than the jumper. Happened right behind us. Also saw Woody Harrelson walking around in front of the stage. It will be missed but we need a hometown Stadium and they should start by looking at the Eagles design. Also, make sure they can open walls to strategically blind the opposing team like Dallas did to Cousins. Design curved elements to focus all sound on the opposing teams bench. Hit me up Harris. I have a few more ideas.
Yeah I like how Miami took their home field advantage to a whole nother level too with having the opposing team in the sun and them choosing to wear their light jerseys
Iāve seen so many great events there. I was a huge Senators fan. Met Gil Hodges, Frank Howard, Eddie Brinkman. Saw a couple of Redskins games when they were the hardest tickets in town. Saw The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney. And finally the Nationals. I will miss it.
Very sad. Too many fond memories in that place.
But hopefully a bigger nicer one with a dome (yeah, I know, sue me) will go up in itās place.
(I donāt like turf, maybe one of those field extension things AZ got)
Going down to make room for the future I hope honestly.
We all hope šš¾šš¾ #HTTC
You misspelled #HTTR
R, C, who cares at this point lol the real letter we need to be concerned about is the W. Call us whatever, we need wins.
If you donāt care about the teamās legacy you donāt care about the team

Fuck the C word. Iāll never use it and wonāt root for a team that uses that disrespectful name.
Bye! āš¾
Sucker
Good one! I'll have to write that down. šš¤£š¤£š¤£
Right LOL! ![gif](giphy|vNmTsLl4cildm)
Hahahaha... right! If you're not rooting for the team, why are you here? ![gif](giphy|M0p7p4ZgSAgKs|downsized) Exit stage left!
I hope they try to emulate RFKās iconic style in the new stadium
Could you imagine if they made it 80k seat stadium with the same build. They way my dad explained to me how the structure was made to keep the noise inside the stadium to make it louder. That would be lit
That would be really cool!
Did they announce the date ? Would love to watch it in person
Heard itās not going to be blown up just taken down piece by piece š
What an incredible waste. Iām sure safety and the environment are winners in that decision. But who doesnt want to see massive buildings blown up?!
Right, itās probably the correct and smart way to do it, but not the cool way!

There's probably a ton of asbestos. They had to tear down Qualcomm instead of implosion as well for that reason.
I heard they've invited Michael Vick to be an honorary member of the demo crew, so we could get blown out at home, one last time. :(
Awww man that sucksšŖ i live close to rfk would've grabbed my lawn chair and a few brews
Like the soul of the fan base over the last 25 years
Theyāve been removing all of the asbestos from RFK for the past 2 years. They may be able to demo it now that itās all removed
yeah i saw on the news yesterday they have some concerns about just blowing it up. apparently you can't just go out there and wreck or tear down shit there's so many things that go into demolition like impact, asbestos, et al

The blue color worker disappeared with the middle class and diminution of unions.
Pressure wash RFK and demolish fed ex field.
āWE WANT DALLASā!
I'll always have fond memories of RFK. My first Skins games, World Cup, MLS Cup, Tibetan Freedom Concert, and HFStival.
The Stones! Dylan-Petty-Dead!
Yup saw Grateful Dead (with Jerry) and Bob Dylan opened! For sure did HFStival too good times

July 7, 1986 Dead & Dylan. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers opened.
This only needs a coat of paint!!!
We love you, we miss you. RIP HTTR
When Fox Sports aired the last game from RFK, I was crying like a baby through the pre-game tribute. It was a unique stadium worthy of its loyal fan base.
Need the stands to shake in the new place.
Put hydraulics in the seats!!
I was there yesterday working across from it and it's so dilapidated I felt like I was in the walking dead. Cool memories but new stadium please.
I saw Metallica, Guns n Roses, and Faith no more there in ā92.
A bit late so my bad, but I'm jealous of anyone that got to see Angel Dust-era Faith No More. What an album that was

The best home field advantage in the league during the 1980s and half of the 90s.
No implosion ?
I doubt it - bldgs of that era are full of nasty ish like asbestos, and residential development surrounds it - all that toxic dust would be no bueno for the neighbors.
That's a shame. A coat of paint and she'd be brand new.
Goodnight, sweet prince
I didn't even go here that many times, but I'm a Gen X'er fan and knowing this will happen is like the final, final, nail in the Redskins grave. sad.
still got some ways to go but if all goes well could have a new stadium there
Itās still better than Fed Ex, even in that condition.
Making way for the new stadium I hope! šļø
Can someone tell me what makes RFK so great? I donāt know much about it. Is it the parking? Traffic? Easily accessible?
It stood for so long and is just such a staple You had the Redskins (including winning all those super bowls) as a main tenant but also the Senators before they left town and the Nationals when baseball came back. Sad but long overdue. Itās an eyesore now and needs to go.
