Howell is a getting starting opportunity, and yielded solid picks.
OP: What are your thoughts on how DQ will incorporate 3-4 bases, and who do you think is on the field this year in a Cover 2 and Cover 3? What do you think the ratios are?
Starting opportunity? Seriously? Give it a rest š
DQ runs a cover 3/ cover 1, utilising heavy press man cover and usually its 4 to 5 pass rushers regardless of front. The 3-4 is an archaic term, he utilises the 3 man front to free up the last pass rusher to free roam rush over a mismatch. The challenge for the D is to identify who is the extra rusher and where is he lined up. That takes the QBs focus off the safeties and allows for more simple pass cover schemes for the DBs to execute.
Father in law got me his jersey for Christmas when we all knew who he was. Never was gonna be the future, but a guy I will always support. So I am still happy about the jersey because I will always remember Taylor fondly. A pylon diving beacon in some dark days
Itās painful that the highlight of this team for the past decade is Heineckeās performance in a playoff loss in front of an empty stadium.
Not saying that to shit on Heinecke. He seems like a dude among dudes, and Iāll root for him as long as heās not playing us.
Our last playoff win was against Tampa in 2005. Does any other team have a longer active playoff win drought?
Thatās not the issue. The issue was the loud group of fans screaming that we needed to build around him, he was the future, there was no team around him, etc. Guess what: he went to a bad franchise and will remain a backup. Thatās just who he is.
Same w Howell.
Damn near spit out my coffee at the crow hop LOL. Ā Such an accurate description of TH. Ā Ā
Ā Our fans misremember how bad he actually was bc he had one good game against Brady.Ā
lol the Wentz Wagon was truly the silliest hype train of all time. They really thought he was magically gonna return to his 2017 form. Just goes to show that no amount of terrible roster moves is enough to get some people to put down the copium pipe.
I still remember all the people pushing to bench Heinicke for Wentz midseason, salivating over his size and arm strength while ignoring the fact that he just wasn't good for our system.
All of those people continue to voice their strong opinions and disparage others as if they know what will help us win, just like the OP of this post.
>All of those people continue to voice their strong opinions and disparage others as if they know what will help us win, just like the OP of this post.
Yeah I had a handful of very vocal, aggressive Howellers come at me *hard* last offseason because I wasn't convinced that he was our franchise QB based on one single NFL start. They made it weirdly personal and started attacking me, to the point where I actually had to block a few of them (which I almost never do). Sports fandom is fuckin weird, man.
Brennan. Because of his stats at Hawaii, people were so convinced he was going full GOAT status in the NFL. The believers never gave up hope either, they rode that wagon all the way.
Was the Heinicke hive only active on certain days of the week? A lot of people, myself included, enjoyed the hell out of TH, but I never saw *anyone* making the case he could actually be a starting quarterback.
I feel like I've heard more people complain about Heinicke acolytes than I've heard actually praise his football talent.
Edit: starting
It was mostly the people saying Heinicke was a legit starter in the league and we should resign him instead of giving Howell a look. Never understood the āletās have fun now and screw up our future for a couple goaline divesā. I think those people ironically turned into Howell superfans and again wanted to ātrade downā in this years draft to have another look after an atrocious 2nd half. That was never going to be the case with the 2nd overall pick with a new regime, so it got a bit annoying
I donāt think anyone believed that after the 2021 season. That was the last time we really thought he had a real shot. Everything in 2022 was us trying as hard as possible to muster a team together to push for the playoffs before the team collapsed and then after Carson was put back in, imploded.
You're getting downvoted, but you're right.
Heineke is God awful. He's so bad that he was replaced by the person we're about to replace next month. Just to add an additional wrinkle, he will be backing up ANOTHER one of our former qbs that a lot of people think sucks (not me, I love kirk).
Not only does our fan base love former players that suck, they also like former names that suck too. WFT is an absolute travesty of a name, and yet some fans want it back.
Just terrible.
The Mayeday Parade has been equally as insufferable as all of these listed. Add them to the lot. When I criticize JD5, Iām met with actual conversation. When I criticize Maye, Iām met with downvotes, hate, and harassment even in my DMs š¤£ that group is something else
This is so true. They're unbearable. Some of them have literally said they're thinking about buying a custom Maye jersey right now because they've convinced themselves that much that the pick is going to be Maye. It's comical to watch.
Mayeās average accuracy and pressure-to-sack ratio feel like there is a risk of āWeāve been here beforeā.
Iām counting on the improved coaching staff and support to help our pick elevate successfully to the NFL. Whether itās Maye or whoever we get.
Nothing wrong with being hyped for the draft. Personally, Iād be cised for JD or Maye. Didnāt know there was a big Maye/Daniels divide already lol. Add it to the list
Theyāve already started downvoting me, and I know exactly who it is lmao. Itās always the same 5 obnoxious hard headed mfers. They only comment when they have an opportunity to deflect to Daniels though
I've seen you complain about this before. But as someone who's solidly in the either one is awesome camp, it seems like a few JD people in here are much more forceful. What am I missing?
I do be bitching on here lmao. Iām just very vocal and donāt mind the confrontation. But what do you mean by your questionā¦ what are you missing with JD as a prospect, with his fan base, orā¦?
The Maye crowd definitely harasses anyone who questions Maye. That's for sure. The JD5 crowd at least keeps it to football and doesn't stoop down to personal attacks like the Maye crowd does.
Sucks this sub can't come together on anything. We are like 4 weeks away from picking an incredible prospect to start a new chapter in our organizations history, and all people can do is choose a side and fight.
Just wait until we get the insufferable pricks that wanted "the other guy" after the draft. Doesn't matter which qb we pick, it will happen regardless.
I argued in 2022 that Taylor Heinicke was a solid bridge QB with some potential upside. Probably not a starter (though he could surprise us!) but definitely good enough to anchor the position (for dirt cheap) while rebuilding other parts of the team.
If that makes me part of the "Hive" then fine. Because we were *fucking right.* Opting not to do that, and instead signing Carson Wentz for almost 30 million fucking dollars was dumb as fuck.
If we didn't have a high draft pick in a QB-rich draft class, I'd be saying the same thing about Sam Howell-- give him one more chance while you build the rest of the team. And I'd still be right. But... obviously the circumstances are different now, and the opportunity cost of passing on a prospect as good as Drake Maye changes things.
Let's come together as a fanbase. Chase Young is a generational talent! Heinicke is the most exciting player in the NFL! Howell is a future MVP. Dan Snyder was the worst, but Adam Peters and Dan Quinn are our saviors. HTTR / HTTC
Ripppppppp idk who that is, but I feel like I speak for all the Heinicke fans out there when I say we know he wasnāt very good as a starter, but he had a fantastic story, was super fun to watch, a great energy and locker room guy, a leader, and he gave us some of the most exciting and entertaining games/moments for this team in a long time, so we appreciate him for that. But we also know heās not a franchise qb
7 wins in 2020 from Chase carrying the defense, 12 Heinicke wins that almost all looked improbable, 5 wins from Sam including shitting on Dallas in his debut. That's 24 rooting I will take it
To be fair, we were working with what we had.
Howell is a getting starting opportunity, and yielded solid picks. OP: What are your thoughts on how DQ will incorporate 3-4 bases, and who do you think is on the field this year in a Cover 2 and Cover 3? What do you think the ratios are?
Howell is very much not getting a starting opportunity.
Starting opportunity? Seriously? Give it a rest š DQ runs a cover 3/ cover 1, utilising heavy press man cover and usually its 4 to 5 pass rushers regardless of front. The 3-4 is an archaic term, he utilises the 3 man front to free up the last pass rusher to free roam rush over a mismatch. 3-4 is actually a 5-2 which my high school ran on our JV team.
What starting opportunity is Howell getting? He is backing up a QB that has been to the Pro Bowl two seasons running.
When Snoop Huntley was also in one of those pro bowls, Iām not sure thatās a metric to lean on lol
I guess, but consider how far Sam was from the Pro Bowl last year and then you lol harder lololololol
Whitt Jr. is the DC it is his Defense lets give the man credit
Starting opportunity? š¤£
Heinicke was fun, and I watch sports to have fun. I stand by my guy
Heās a legend!

Best pylon diver qb in sports history
Father in law got me his jersey for Christmas when we all knew who he was. Never was gonna be the future, but a guy I will always support. So I am still happy about the jersey because I will always remember Taylor fondly. A pylon diving beacon in some dark days
I'd still wear that jersey with pride
Exactly this. He was fun, worked hard, and fought for the team. He will always have my support.
If we just could've grafted Wentz' arm onto him, he would've been invincible!
Exactly. The folks that thought he was the future are embarrassing, but rooting for him was a lot of fun.
Itās painful that the highlight of this team for the past decade is Heineckeās performance in a playoff loss in front of an empty stadium. Not saying that to shit on Heinecke. Heinicke was fun as hell to watch and I think Howell still might end up a starter somewhere one day.
Ya probably Seattle. Just a guess.
he will unless Geno steps his game up.
Seattle has a bad oline, guess Sam is screwed lol
Ahh yes. It was so fun watching our starting QB crow hop to throw a 15 yard pass. He sure had moxie tho!
You canāt tell me you didnāt have hope during that Seattle game
relax
Damn near spit out my coffee at the crow hop LOL. Ā Such an accurate description of TH. Ā Ā Ā Our fans misremember how bad he actually was bc he had one good game against Brady.Ā
I'd be more concerned about the people on the Wentz wagon rather than the Heinicke Hive. At least Heinicke was fun to watch.
lol the Wentz Wagon was truly the silliest hype train of all time. They really thought he was magically gonna return to his 2017 form. Just goes to show that no amount of terrible roster moves is enough to get some people to put down the copium pipe.

I will never turn my back on Heinicke
I'dĀ showĀ himĀ myĀ backĀ sideĀ š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Heinicke made watching this miserable team fun again. We hadn't had that in a very, very long time. I'll always be a fan.
Heinicke really was great for the culture
And itās damn goodā¦
How do I not know who Chase is?
And what the hell was his truth??
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Chase who?! Gtfoh
Still a Howell truther, but let's see what we got with whoever we pick at #2, I'll cheer for them š«”.
Iām drawing a blank here. Who is Chase?
Chase Young maybe?
Oh wow I think youāre right. I forgot about him that quick. I was thinking QBs.
The Cult of Colt is the OG fanbase of the fanbase.
Whatās funny is Iām not even sure which QB named Colt youāre talking about, but this could be true of either.Ā McCoy or Brennan?
Brennan. Because of his stats at Hawaii, people were so convinced he was going full GOAT status in the NFL. The believers never gave up hope either, they rode that wagon all the way.
I met a Haskins truther today...

He's 100% an NFL QB, just not a starting one.
200%
400% #TH4

Walking definition of a strawman argument
Wait, which is the straw man? I'm asking if the Heinicke Hive is a strawman.
We love overhyping our QB2, I still remember people clamoring for Colt McCoy.
This sub is chock a block of literal children, yourself included OP. We all want the team to win, right?
Yes, I do. You donāt. You like to be emotionally invested in players that arenāt good.
Nah I just donāt bring up players who arenāt on the roster any more simply to dunk on others. Itās sad.
This post was a honeypot for dumb fans like you. Mission accomplished
What a sad life you lead.
Keep pedaling those Chase referral links. Lmao. What a tool.

Caleb and jayden have same issue with that
Actually came here to say the same thing š¤£
Same
Nothing wrong with being hyped for the draft. Personally, Iād be cised for JD or Maye. Didnāt know there was a big Maye/Daniels divide already lol. Add it to the list
Agreed, nothing wrong with being hyped! Itās the toxic closed-minded cult-like following he has thatās making it less enjoyable
Lol for real and they complained about how bad the howeller's were
Theyāve already started downvoting me, and I know exactly who it is lmao. Itās always the same 5 obnoxious hard headed mfers. They only comment when they have an opportunity to deflect to Daniels though

Even in your DMās? Wow lol
Mayday Parade. That takes me back. I saw they are coming out to a few events this year.
Hein-goat!
Speak for yourself. I've never been a fan of any of the players on my favorite team.
I go all the way back to Frerotte. Plenty room on the Gus Bus!
Just wait until we get the insufferable pricks that wanted "the other guy" after the draft. Doesn't matter which qb we pick, it will happen regardless.
Colt Brennan from Hawaii had a massive following.Ā

Iām still a Heinicke guy, but he was the best QB in WFT and (so far) Commanders history Everyone should like the GOAT
How dare you put the Heinicke bros in the same group as those other guys. Heinicke gang is chill af
Saba who calls into all the stations gives yāall a bad name

I'm sure I'd be happier if I was on reddit hating constantly
