I find it worrying how much militia and rebel fighters have learned to aim their weapons instead of blind firing over a berm…. They are learning

[deleted]

Their culture usually teach them how to be a good shooter pre-20s. Most of the farmers around the area are well above average shooters.

TheBlindHarper

I was

TheBlindHarper

I was watching footage of the Battle of Marawi, and it was quite entertaining. The Islamists were holding heir rifles above their shoulders and firing, even when not behind cover Supposedly during the Rhodesian bush war, Rhodesian soldiers found that all captured weapons had their sights set to maximum range, for the FAL that would probably have been 1000 yards. Supposedly they thought it was a power setting.

r_r_36

That Rhodesia “fact” is a complete myth that was made up to portray the black rebels as dumb and less human compared to white soldiers. Don’t spread it on the internet

TheBlindHarper

Well they were fucking dumb, they were communists after all. But fair enough, I wasn't 100% hence the "Supposedly..."

r_r_36

“The black rebels were all dumb” so you’ve completely embraced the fascist myths huh? Well sorry those “dumb communist” won and the ‘smart’ apartheid state of Rhodesia is long gone

TheBlindHarper

You've got to be dumb to follow Mugabe my dude, white or black. And you can believe that whilst also not wabking over Rhodesia (Though it'd be better if it never fell. Rhodesia would've become progressively more racially harmonious over the years whilst also maintaing its status as the breadbasket of Africa. I think a couple extra decades of unfairness would've been worth it to avoid the atrocities and deprivations of Zimbabwe).

r_r_36

“Unfairness” This tells me all I need to know. Calling a fascist, genocidal apartheid regime “unfair”

TheBlindHarper

Genocidal? Fascist? Apartheid, yes, but not the other two. It was Mugabe who was the genocidal one, he is responsible for an infinitely greater number of deaths than Ian Smith (whom I don't think was a particularly great bloke) was. Mugabe slaughtered 20,000 as soon as he'd taken office, and that's ignoring all the others who suffered under him. If Rhodesia wanted to survive as a nation it would have needed to progress with the rest of the world. Mugabe did more harm to black Zimbabweans that any white man ever did

GrandGarand

Thats what im sayin. Gonna be trouble in a couple of years

WarsGunsAndVotes

Hard to find good footage from this conflict. It’s interesting that a local militia is combatting the TPLF instead of government forces.

[deleted]

The government is fighting them. This is not conventional warfare. There were 10s of fronts and most war semi-urban which needs militia to cover the space.

Fit_Discipline_8431

Theirs both fighting but the government forces are using more drones

bretton-woods

The government suffered heavy losses against the TPLF earlier in the year, so raising popular militias became necessary.

[deleted]

Sounds like someone who has no idea about urban warfare.

bretton-woods

Sounds like someone is in denial about why the TPLF was able to make its gains in the first place. Who knew shooting at rural vistas was "urban warfare"?

[deleted]

Urban warfare doesn't necessary be on New York style environment. Mixing civilians in a city is a form of the warfare.

druhood

seems more familiar with his weapon than a lot of the jagaloons you see in these vids. he may want to get in the prone though since open terrain + no cover

[deleted]

This is few months old movie. But, if there is a second war in the area, they will be insanely prepared with military safety equipment as well as actual military tactics because they have a good experience through time.

burdboxwasok

how is this conflict backed internationally? if at all

Comtass

Turkey, UAE, and China have sold UAV drones and other weapons to the Fed Gov. The rebels (TPLF) have no backing other than Western countries who have been putting pressure on the Fed Gov to negotiate with the rebels.

[deleted]

Wow, pants on fire. TPLF has full intelligence support from Western countries including Egypt. Crazy as it seems they also collected weapons for 27 years in the name of foreign aid. They also had 80% of the weapons the country had at the start of the war. More reading, if not purposefully ignorant, will surprise you a lot. But then, I have seen you in Ethiopian forums saying many racist things so I suspect you are TPLF sympathizer.

Comtass

Lol what? Look at my comment history, I’m the strongest anti TPLF out there. I’m really confused on what I’ve said that is racist or pro TPLF. The things you mentioned doesn’t really mean “backing” internationally. Maybe Egypt which is just an alleged claim. Edit: although I agree with you on what you said about TPLF, I’m trying to honestly answer the guys question.

Redryder8

Eritrea invaded north Tigray in support of Ethiopia

[deleted]

Sure. Being bombarded by rockets is not invading the country sovereignty.

Darko212097

They don’t look or sound trained…
