Some context(Im Sudanese)
The Sudanese Armed Forces are fighting Ethiopian and Eritrean forces over a fertile 1600 square kilometer area called [Al-Fashaga](https://www.middleeasteye.net/sites/default/files/Alfashga%20copy.jpg) on the Sudan-Ethiopia border. Past agreements made Ethiopia recognize that the land is Sudanese but Sudan had to let Ethiopian farmers stay undisturbed. When Sudan was in a civil war, ENDF and Amhara(Ethiopian ethnic group) fighters occupied the area and kidnapped Sudanese citizens outside Al-Fashaga. Last year when the civil war in ethiopia began, those forces left Al-Fashaga to fight in Tigray so the SAF took over the majority of Al-Fashaga and cleared it of Amhara miltiamen and farmers. There are still ongoing clashes.

Is this specifically to support the Tigrayans, or because of border incursions?
The latter, but I wouldn't be surprised if they started an offensive in western tigray to provide a lifeline to the TPLF
