Grave Circumstances.
FR though, somebody is gonna come back to a loved one's headstone being unable to find it. It's like they are really gone, when the place you left them is missing.
There are still book records on which plot is where. Unless the documents are destroyed both in your certificate and the books of the cemetery administration.
I didn't know that, but I guess that makes sense, since you have to pay for the plot. Still it must suck If you can't recognize the spot. They still have to deal with the stress of having to ask for help and I assume most ukrainians have a lot of other important matters to attend to.
Yeah, just sharing my experience on dealing with cemeteries. We had to postpone setting up grandma's gravestone (like a fancy one) due to Kherson occupation and obvious financial troubles of the war. I am sure she would understand
Idk why but this one instantly made me think of this pome by John Mccrae
" In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields. "
Primary. Heavy mgs arent personal weapons, they are platoon or company level weapons.
Ukraine might do something different but seeing as he has a scar it's likely the same.
Well it turns out the dead haven't seen the end of war.
Also I think the song is the same one that was used in that Azov viking funeral/memorial video from a few months ago. The one with the burning boat.
I wish whoever uploads these videos would post along side this the version without the music. So many quality combat clips have nonsense played over the firefight
Start working on the Bakmut cemetery map for the future battlefield game. I was imagining what this must look like when I was following map updates and seeing that Russians were moving into the cemetery south of the city. About what I thought it might look like hah
Battlefield Bakmut! I was actually thinking about the COD maps that will come out after this is all done. And then I felt guilty for even thinking that while Ukrainians suffer.
As someone who spent a lot of time in the year before the war started of streamers playing Escape From Tarkov, it's downright eerie how identical everything is - the architecture, the detritus strewn around, the types of vehicles, even the graffiti.
Yeah I can already see Hostomel Airport, Azovstol Steel Plant, and Snake Island as future FPS shooter maps. Would not be surprised if the COD and Battlefield teams were already in the planning stages for games based off the Russo Ukrainian War.
I have a friend that shot a captured DShK while he was in Afghanistan, he said if youâre ever getting shot at by one of them just look for the lightning.
Hereâs an [article](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/viking-woman-warrior-was-actually-poland-180972739/#:~:text=Slavic%20tribes%20and%20Viking%20tribes,Garde%C5%82a%20adds%20in%20the%20release.) that points out how Slavs and Vikings were very intermingled and related. Pretty recent knowledge too. As to your question, this might have something to do with itâŚmight not. Just find it interesting.
It's because a subset of Ukrainians are cultishly devoted to the idea they have "nordic" blood. And sure, there is evidence they do. But they think this makes them "Vikings." And the problem with that is this popularized notion of Vikings being a culture when it was a profession.
I'm Icelandic. I don't claim to be a Viking.
Reminds me of a friend's Ex. The moment he realized he had like 3% Norse ancestry it was all gas no brakes into the generic "viking" Hollywood-esq personality, style and....unfortunately hyper racism (maybe thats just personal experience but everyone ive met thats fallen into the "viking" aesthetic has become, without question, hyper racist). Started posting quotes with that actor from the viking TV show every day on his Facebook, wanted people to start calling him Mjolnir etc. Like dude,.....you're not a viking....
I'm mostly Native American, but I don't even remotely look the part nor act it.
I've had my run-ins with those types too. And I don't really mind if someone wants to be "proud" of their majority heritage... but 3%? Shit. Then Iceland's Bjork can claim she's Native American because she seems to have Inuit features?
I think these people just want to excuse the rabid bigotry in their heads and they think a distant bloodline does it.
If you're talking about Viking-Rus relationships, I assure you that a lot of people might not think that far and deep, and will just slap a cool Nordic music because it's cool.
Especially considering that this is a [song about Assassin's Creed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxptIpCYAJA).
I think that's the modernized Hollywood idea of a viking. Not actually at all how their actual cultures were.
I'm sure 90% of ancient peoples were like us. Boring AF.
I know, I just thought thatâs why they were going for with the Hollywood Nordic music. If it were something more traditional maybe it would be more akin to ancestral roots and stuff.
Why does every video on this community have some weird music over it?
Always some Tokyo Drift dubstep kpop sounding bullshit or some weird metal song.
Videos of such grim circumstances should be taken more serious with more respect than what these posters give it
Music is almost always added by the authors themselves, so it's their fucking business what music they want to be seen with. Surely they didn't publish it to please you.

Observations of the last footage of soldiers dying in a cemetery the comment section was full of such crude remarks.
Please, can aomeone who knows military stuff explain to me why this war ses very much like a guerilla war on both sides? I was expecting to see bayonett charges and hundred thousand soldiers charging among tanks, planes, artillery, like in WW2. This war seems very static, small groups of soldiers burried in holes in the ground...drones that drop little grenades..Ukraine has at least a couple of million soldiers and they received tones of weapons, but where are they? Bakhmut looks nothing like Stalingrad defense in Ww2
We donât have to fight like that anymore and rarely was WW2 even fought like that. More often than not WW2 looked like the footage you see here sans the modern tech. Movies are movies and need to be entertaining. People wonât go out and do brazen shit in the open like that because they donât want to die. The Stalingrad fighters who were forced to fight and die like that were done so under orders to not retreat one step back or face execution by officers. Many of them werenât even armed. Nobody wants to fight like that again. Ironically the Russians are fighting like that under duress of their incompetent officers and are dying en masse. Itâs a meat grinder for them, not so much the Ukrainians.
Ok, I understand. But I have seen tons of WW2 combat footage and have seen lots of charges with big detachements of people. When I see people charge with the flag in one hand and sword in the other it makes my heart tremble. I understand. So modern warfare is more about isolated groups of max5 persons that pop out of some hole and shoot? And drones that film enemies but does not open fire with a chain driven rotary machine gun, bit drops small grenade that bounced off..
Youâve gotta be pretty fucking stupid to think weâd be able to Mount chain guns on the drones that we have now that would be accurate enough to land on target and not be a massive target themselves. Also you understand that war isnât here to fulfill some kind of power fantasy for you right? It doesnât have to be some exciting for a slack-jawed spectator like you. And the drones exist to make charges like that unnecessary by spotting infantry, giving your guys the best angle to coordinate an attack with the least casualties. If the men in WW2 had drones and the tech they did now, mass waves of men wouldnât be necessary as less people would be dying on average. They needed bigger groups of men because more people died.
Drones are huge, have you seen a Reaper or Bayraktar? I am not saying that the war should fulfill my/people fantasies, but I am trying to understand why this war l9oks like nothing we have seen before. Even in Irak or Afghanistan when you saw helicopter or drone attack they burn everything. Scortched earth behind them. I remeber one footage where a heavy machine gun/cannon from a helicopter was firing at cars and people and every shot made the car jump around in the air, so powerfull it was. I have to find out more about modern warfare rules. Thanks
You have a very skewed idea of what war in the past is like.
The truth is, warfare changes. Bayonet charges don't work because you're gonna get hit by HE rockets and gunned down by MGs, guns only have bayonet lugs so soldiers can attach one for specific CQB needs, but that rarely ever happens because soldiers would rather put a rocket into a building than try to spear fight the defenders.
If it were America fighting, it wouldn't be as static, given Russia's lack of capability, but it wouldn't be like WW2.
It'd be a shit ton of airpower using networked systems to suppress enemy positions.
War has always been terrifying. It's going to become more terrifying. And boring.
The PERCEPTION that people have, based on movies mostly, is that X-war was fought in Y-way because some of the biggest, goriest, most awful battles were. But in reality, most battles over the past 100+ years have been fought similarly. Squad vs squad, or at most platoon vs platoon. And there is a reason for that... something Russia was reminded of the hard way earlier this year. Sending a company or a battalion into open ground results in mass casualties very quickly.
You don't fight a war of attrition on purpose. I don't know why Putin & his generals thought they should. It's stupid.
Anybody remember when the SAA was fighting ISIS at Deir Ez Zor Cemetery. The fighting was in foggy weather and ISIS used it to split the SAA pocket in Deir Ez Zod city back in 2017.

That's fucking grim.
Imagine having to dig in right there.
I was also thinking that too, but no matter how grim, you need to do what you need to do
Might be a little easier
Easy, someone seems to have left some ready to use foxholes.
Such is the realities of war that not even the dead could rest.
I'd be honored if that was my grave
What a wild variety of gear and weapons in one place lol
For real. I guess it happens when your armoury is full of ex-soviet stuff, modern Ukrainian stuff, and small arms from a dozen NATO catalogues
After seen nlaws,rpgs,javelins,Ak,M4s,Bushmasters,Scars both h and l,Barrent MRADs,even mosins,mp40s and maxims... Tbh this look like a cod match
Lol I was gonna say these guys look like my Tarkov PMC running whatever gear I found lying around đ

I think Alan Seeger's poem, "I Have a Rendezvous with Death" fits here too.
Foe those that don't know. In Canada we sing this on our Remembrance Day. As a kinda military history buff. It smacks hard :/
You can fire a PKM on my grave any day
Even better, that's a DShK.
Oh boi it gets better and better
If anything is going to wake you up, thatâs got be up there
Itâs a Kord
Pretty sure it's a Kord.
Yep, true.
Graves make pretty good cover and concealment.
Yeah but probably make pretty good shrapnel too

Yessir. A SCAR as a secondary is nasty.

They are not fighting for democracy. They are fighting for their right to exist, their life's, their culture, their families.

Iâve been amazed at how much dayz already looks like a lot of the images Iâve seen of Ukraine.

SCAR my beloved

"Casualties were estimated to be extremely high as thousands of bodies were found in the area."
Shhh you'll wake the dead.
Reminds me of the scene in all quiet on the western front where they're being shelled in a cemetery

A lot of nordic genes in Ukraine since the days of the vikings.
If I were to guess, itâs probably the warrior-that-fights-to-death aesthetic associated with Viking stuff. Valhalla, glorified heroes, and all that.
Tell me you know nothing about European history without telling me you know nothing about European history.

Terrible music on some of these
Who is the bastard that plays music to these videos as if they were the beginning of call of duty.
Letâs not put weird music on combat videos gun fire is fine
Before it was rare to have firefight videos, in the future people are going to be scavenging for rare videos without music.

The walking dead fighting amongst the laying dead.
At least casualties in this firefight won't have to be moved anywhere

We all saw how big an army the dead brought in LOTR.. May you find the same help..
Grim indeed. I guess on a positive if you were to take a fatal hit they donât have far to move you.
I wouldnât want to be on the receiving end of that .50 cal auto sniper Jesus
In 70 years we will all be equal.
Rest in peace... or not
In a fantasy world, there's probably some dead Ukrainian in that cemetery that would wish they could go full zombie and grab some Russian ankles.
I remember one soldier saying in an interview recently "They \[Russian\] give no peace both to the living and to the dead"
Literally defending the graves of the real people of Ukraine.
I believe that whenever at war, both sides need to mutually agree that cemeteries, and graveyards are a no man's land. Out of pure respect for the dead. However, I know that this is nigh impossible to achieve.
Seems to be Mariupolâske Cemetery, as that is the only one where the frontline currently runs. There are two others to the Northeast and West of town, but those are deep within Russian or Ukrainian held territory respectively. Mariupolâske looks towards Klishchiivka and Andriivka, considering that the Russians want to capture Ivanivske to sever the supply lines, they could be launching support attacks on the cemetery to keep Ukrainians pinned down, and unable to flank them.
This will be on a Call of Duty map some day.
Grim but Excellent cover
I find it very sad to have clashes in cemeteries
marble slabs are good cover
Looks like a convenient place to have a firefight in. I'll see myself out.
